Quality Inn Wickenburg2.5 out of 5.0

Staff friendly. WIFI worked and bed comfortable. About a mile from main street, stores, restaurants. No AC in lobby, breakfast or computer areas. Doors open but exceptionally warm temperatures outdoors in triple digits. AC in room a bit better. Breakfast /computer area large and food good. Room had sliding doors with individual patio but area not clean. Over flowing ashtray from prior guest(s). Drapes oversized for sliding door so did not hang properly, looked sloppy. Window casing around slider cracked, peeling. In need of maintenance. Shower head weak, carpet worn. Some mold around tub grout. Tub stopper out. Not the worst we've encountered but probably would pass on this facility next time.
From the outside this hotel doesn't look like much but inside it's neat. The desk clerk was very helpful, especially as we did not have a reservation. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and the shower was nice. Breakfast was more than adequate.
The Quality Inn at Wickenburg was just what we needed. Just heading home after 2 months of touring Europe, we made the push to get out of Phoenix. On the southern edge of Wickenburg, the hotel is set on the main road, but against the hillside. We enjoyed the Wild West desert feel. As usual, the people that run things make the biggest impression. Penney welcomed us in at the front desk and was so accommodating when we needed extra attention. In the morning we met Rusty the maintenance man at the breakfast room and Manny, the owner in the lobby. Everyone is so friendly, but not overly so, just like it's normal to be a pleasant person.
The shower water temperature fluctuated enough that it was noticeable. There was no coffee at breakfast. There is no elevator so if you are handicapped be sure to reserve a first floor room. I had requested a first floor room but did not get one. The swimming pool is about 150 feet away from the hotel. Highway noise was a concern, but the traffic dropped off after dark so it was tolerable. Staff was pleasant and offered to carry the luggage upstairs.
I do not like to complain about anyone's business practices, but to me our room lacked the routine maintenance required for a satisfactory guest experience. There appeared to be mildew or mold in the shower tile. The shower needed new caulking. The shower faucet was difficult to turn on or off; it would only sporadically engage and appeared to be past its useful lifetime. The sink was cracked. Repairs that had been made were not done well. I would think a routine maintenance program would remedy these shortcomings so that customers would not experience the feeling that I had--- I paid too much for a shoddy room. I am attaching photos to show what I experienced. I did bring these matters to the manager's attention and he offered a 15% reduction in my bill, which I declined. He said he would address the issues, and I hope he does so that others will not experience the disappointment I did at this hotel.
Inn staff very accommodating (except for the day the housekeeper left our room totally undone, no clean towels or beds changed/straightened - later was resolved with concierge staff). Too few outlets for charging electronics and most outlets too loose to hold charger plug. Bathtub non stick mat was torn and coming loose from tub. Drain did not drain and by the end of a quick shower, tub water was 3" deep. The room was clean, breakfast was terrific and the staff friendly and helpful.
Nice, clean room. Quiet even though it's on a busy highway. Staff was friendly. Pool and spa looked inviting but neither was heated. They are away from the main building and we thought it would be especially nice on a clear evening. Maybe on a summer visit. The included breakfast was hot and ample.
Very nice suite room with king bed, sofa, 2 overstuffed chairs, desk, large flat screen, mini fridge and micro. Spacious bath. Decor and furniture in great shape. Only downside this can be adjoining rooms. I hate that, you can always hear your neighbor through the ‘adjoining’ doors. No insulation there! Direct TV, which EVERY hotel should have. About a mile from the Historic areas. Slow wifi. Even for hotels. Too bad, ruins an otherwise great room! Also wonder why Micro is placed on bottom shelf of chest, gotta lay on the floor to work it!
Keep it clean minded folks as this is a family friendly website! Spent two separate nights here during a round trip up to Northern Nevada. The stays were normal with nothing out of the ordinary thankfully. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, and great hot water/pressure. The exhaust fans in both of the rooms did need to be cleaned & serviced as they made quite the racket when turned on. Breakfast was a good meal of eggs, bacon, toast etc. before hitting the road early in the morning. Definitely recommend staying here to either explore the town or if you need to stop and rest for night if passing through. *Reminder: you'll have to pay extra for a room on the 1st floor if you you don't want to climb the stairs in the lobby.
I love the Choice Hotel chain because the beds are wonderful. However, this Quality Inn was very disappointing. The room was dirty, was not vacuumed the day we arrived. Curtains torn and hanging. Toilet rocked and clanged when you sat on it. Toe nail clippings on the floor around the desk and bed. I thought they would vacuum the next day, but no! Bed light didn't work. Alarm clock broken and went off at 3am. Turned on the A/C that evening and it blew out a horrible burning stench. Had to open the window for hours to clear out the smell which was noxious. Next day went to the pool/jacuzzi and enjoyed the spa until I almost stepped on a piece of broken glass. I picked up half a dozen pieces off the pool deck and put them in the trash bin. I overlook small issues, but this was so bad I requested a discount for our stay. The desk clerk said she would issue a credit on my card. It never posted.
