Rydges Wellington

4.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

We only stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, but the room was good sized and had a nice little kitchenette area. It was also right in the heart of downtown, close to the beehive and within walking distance of a lot of things.

Fantastic ! This hotel provides high level of hospitality... Check in and check out based on confidence are smooth and efficient. Due to personal reason, I don't want to provide my credit card at check in, they ask me for NZD50 cash only when other places ask for NZD800 for the same time period... At check out, they ask me about mini bar's consumption and noticed what I said without any verification trusting you when others send someone in your room to check if you're lying or not... At check in, I received a complimentary upgrade for a room with balcony and a complimentary drink for 2 that can be used separately during my stay at my best convenient time. The bed is amazing comfortable with different choice of pillows... The mini bar provide big choices of local products... The buffet breakfast is generous and tasty when others provide the minimum, adding extras for eggs and even for bread and butter !!! The staff was attentive and very professional to offer you the best assistance during your stay... And maybe the most important, the Rydges Wellington provides good vibes and casual atmosphere that make you feel comfortable, same at home... Near train station and center, I definitively will recommend the Rydges Wellington to my friends and for all travelers visiting Wellington... You will love it...

It was a very nice hotel. It was new and stylish.

I travel very frequently and hotel amenities are crucial for running smoothly. The Rydges doesn't have a business center. I had to print a 100 page document by having to email it to staff, then bug them to find my email and print it. Very inconvenient, not to mention the lack of ability to print highly confidential documents. Also, their gym consists of one treadmill and one bicycle in a closet size space. Service is OK. In-room snacks don't have healthy choices, everything is high sugar or junk food.

Comfy beds and friendly staff. Great Breakfast Buffett. Rooms are of reasonable size although the AC does not reach one half of the room. Double rooms do not have a bathtub. Room service happens quite late (around 4pm at times).

Excellent hotel in all ways. Good room helpful staff

Call ahead for a room with a view of the harbor. Floor to ceiling windows give a spectacular view. My Wife gave it the five stars!

rydges wellington is a very modern hotel in an excellent location for access to ferries, downtown, parliament buildings and city gardens. Room was well appointed and very spacious and comfortable. hotel breakfast was one of best we've h ad at a major hotel internet extra charge was irritant

Staff moved us to a harbor view room at our request. Easy walk to the museum and lots of places to eat. Great Idea to stay here on your last day on North Island before boarding a plane or ferry.

We arrived in the hotel at 10pm after a very long journey, meaning we are all exhausted, not to mention we have a 15month old, my grand son with us.The receptionist checked us in, for 2 rooms, which i reserve a few weeks ago before our arrival. He gave us rooms with different floors, I kindly asked if he can give us a rooms adjacent to each other, without checking on his computer in front of him of the possible availability, he immediately turned us down, that there's no room and I should have made a request during booking, and told me the rooms that was booked has 2 different names, i asked him anyway if he could at least check it first in the computer for room availability, instead he asked his manager to handle the situation. The manager, his name is Billie, was nice enough to check the computer and sure enough there were 2 rooms that are adjacent to each other. Please give Billie a thumbs up for his kindness and hospitality to your guests. This act of kindness is really makes a big difference, and surely recommend your hotel to others if everyone is like Billie.

Fun and good family hotel. Amenities were great and awesome!

Enjoyed a nearly week long stay in at the hotel for business. Conveniently located between the central business district and the railway station, hotel has nicely (modern) decorated and furnished rooms. Staff in the hotel were friendly and responsive. Breakfast buffet offers healthy and tasty options. Only negatives for me is the high cost of WiFi internet in the rooms and too soft (for my taste) mattresses. Would definitely stay again next time business brings me to Wellington

Asked where to park the car , they tell me pay for valet parking $30 PER NIGHT or park on the street (but you will have to move every 2hrs ) or go find a public carpark .

reat hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Great room. perfect location. Close to everything. An easy walk almost everywhere.

There is good reason the Rydges Hotel in Wellington has won hospitality award year after year. It is the best Hotel stay in Wellington I have experience.

For a $400/nt hotel I was surprised at the very small room, no turndown service, only instant coffee in the room, and a very old tube TV.

would expect bigger room and a view for the price.

This is an extraordinary Holiday Inn. We were first pleased by the location as it is just one block from the train station where the ferry shuttle drops off. It is also very convenient to Wellington's terrific wharf area for eating and enjoying the waterfront as well as the cable car, botanic garden, shopping, and museums. Our room had a view of the harbor with a very comfortable bed, handy kitchen area, and luxury bathroom.

From the time we steeped into the Hotel the staff at reception were very polite and helpful.

This is a good standard Holiday Inn close to the Wellington Harbour front. We were travelling by train down from Auckland and this hotel is only short walk from the station and the shuttle to the ferry across to South Island. There are plenty of restaurants and shops close to the hotel. The hotel is modern, clean and very conveniently located. The only slight annoyance is that that this hotel is like most hotels in New Zealand that are still in the age of charging for internet access.
