A central location with car parking and a brilliant staff-great food and lovely rooms-Great bargains to be had and always ask at reception for up to date info-you will find them most helpful.Anything we asked was looked after-We would have no problem recommending this fab location.
Stayed 2 nights midweek (Wed & Thur) & given room on 2nd floor with lovely view of River. Other reviewers have mentioned noise at night time & paper thin walls, I am a light sleeper & we didnt experience any noise in corridor or from next door rooms...maybe at weekends corridors are noisy. Nice barfood on 1st night & we were looked after by very nice Duty Manager Michael Mc Corry who was very friendly & nice. On Thursday morning we met Michael again & he asked what were we thinking of doing for the day & proceeded to get us copies of local maps information etc & was again very helpful. Jacinta on Reception was our 1st point of contact on arrival & also happened to be on duty when we checked out on Friday & she is an asset to the Hotel.... as very professional, warm & friendly & had dealt with her on the phone when booking & was the same. Enjoyed our stay & will be back.
11:30 pm Brandon House Wexford failed to call me back as promised to book an available room. Then all rooms booked. Beaufort B & B was too tired to get up. In fairness to Waterford Marina the night porter was excellent. On top of a very late check in, he also did 2 room service runs inc iron n ironing board etc, thats customer service!
Hotel is located near everything. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. Restaurant overlooks water and is lovely for breakfast. Rooms clean but not contemporary. Furnishings somewhat old. Basics are available.
Went down with my partner and we went for food and drink. My burger was so full of grease I spent all night and next day vomiting. Drinks cost a lot more than expected too. Beds were not comfortable.. I'd rather pay a bit extra for good food and a decent drink
The marina has a great location & also a secure carpark which is a nice bonus. Our room was clean & comfortable with all the usual amenities. Staff are very friendly & happy to help. Breakfast was lovely & had a very good selection of choices.only 2 problems were: house level on the Saturday night was unbelievable. There was a band playing in the bar & our room was nearly vibrating with the noise, thank god were both heavy enough sleepers. Also, I would advise anyone not to get an evening meal included in their booking cost. Menu was boring and unappetizing & food was not great. We spoke to another guest and he said the menu had been the same as the night before as both he & wife had evening meal included in their booking. There are so many nice places to eat in Waterford, don't waste your time eating garlic soup lol :)
I stayed on a Friday night, and the walls are paper thin, so poor sleep quality. When a drunkard came back from a night out, I could literally smell the alcohol from my room, and when he yawned It sounded like he was in my room and I woke up alarmed. Not a feeling of privacy or security and a genuinely frightening experience. When I moved room the concierge was unapologetic and I didn't get back to sleep. On the way through the "non smoking" corridor there was a smell of cigarette smoke. I would not recommend this hotel. For the price, I could have got a better deal on the other side of Waterford center. Thumbs down. Utterly disappointed and stressed out by this experience. The Manager the next morning was blaze when listening to my complaint, and was a bit sexist TBH. sixty five quid, down the drain.
This was a tough one to decide the rating and I am basing off the 3 star rating and the cost per night. It is an adequate 3 star hotel, clean and in good order and I slept well. I sat in the bar and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, there was a band playing and I also had a great pint of hop 13. Breakfast had good variety and what I had was ok. The only major negative as said by others is the corridor noise. This isn't just an architectural issue for the hotel, the guests staying need to be more considerate as well, just because you are awake does not mean everyone else is as well. If the hotel had an overhaul with all newly furnished rooms and aimed at 4 star and €100/night + it has an outstanding footprint. Get the right deal and go ahead and stay at the marina as it is in a good location.
Arrived sunday afternoon were greeted by a lovely receptionist. Checked in snd put bags in the room. Room comfy and clean. Went for a walk and came back cold. Went into the bar and ordered coffee and food. Ecxellent food and service. The two staff were so nice -helpful & friendly. Food great value and right size portions. Keep up the good work.
The Hotel has secure parking, and only 75M from the Hotel door, Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was small, and dated, with a very small double bed, lot of noise from the room above when they walked around, and also from the TV in the room next door. We ate in the restaurant, and it was not to bad, except they could have had more staff on, had to wait, but we were not in a hurry, so not a problem. Breakfast, was a laid out concept of hot food under hot lamps, and served by a staff member. the sausages, white and black pudding had all been cooked in the deep fat fryer, not how we like it. they were cereals and fruit and yoghurt. The location of the Hotel was good, and easy to find, and 1 night was all we stayed. It was the breakfast that let it down.
