Stayed here last weekend for 1 night. Its a really lovely hotel just behind the Tower Hotel on the river. We had a very spacious room overlooking the river. The room was spotless bed very comfortable as were the pillows. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast buffet style and complimentary newspaper. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again the next time I'm in Waterford. Thank you!
I was disappointed with the rooms at this hotel. They were not very clean and surrounded by junky apartments. The rooms were big but very hot. The windows barely opened. We asked for fans but they never brought them up. It was walking distance to the Waterford Crystal factory.
We didn't stay in the hotel as we only popped in for bar food at 2pm. We had the fish chips and peas. It was a large portion but the batter in the fish was hard and tasteless. The staff were very friendly so we didn't complain but the choice of food on the menu could really be improved seeing also that the hotel itself is in a beautiful location.
Had a lovely view of the river from a nice room. Easy walk into Waterford and a very pleasant town it is. We chose to dine in the restuarant but wish we hadn't, the atmosphere in the bar with the same food choice wad much better. I liked this hotel and suggest if going to Waterford use it. The Crystal factory is a walk away.
The hotel's location is excellent, with views of the river and within five minutes walk of the town centre. Secure parking on site. Sadly the sound proofing in the rooms is poor and you feel very much a part of the conversations in the rooms next door or in the corridor. While this may be interesting occasionally it is intrusive and annoying in the early hours of the morning. Service in the bar area for food is not the quickest, but this may be due to a lack of staff at times.
Stopped at the Waterford Marina Hotel on the first night of my trip to Ireland. Staff very pleasant. Rooms clean and presentable. Free wifi. Secure parking. Can't fault the hotel. I didn't have breakfast there, so unable to comment on the food.
We were so pleased with this hotel over the New Year that I did not hesitate to give it 5 stars. Our experience on the last night this time showed a totally different attitude by the staff. As it was our last night we were joined in the bar by two of my wife's sisters, her brother and our niece. The Ladies toilet was shut all evening so they all had to use the one disabled toilet. That in itself was not too much of a problem. At about 20 minutes to 11 the barman (Michael) came over and announced that all non residents had to leave by 11. At 10 minutes to my brother-in-law and his daughter went to use the loos only to find that they were all shut. I gave him my room key so that they could use the toliet in there. The next thing I knew was the barman came over and thrust my card at me saying the non residents were not allowed up stairs, quoting that old favourite of jobsworths everywhere, Health and Safety. I went out to find my relatives only to discover they were gone. Along with another very rude member of staff they had been told to use the loos in the bar across the road. On their return, despite mentioning that their phones and belongings were still in the bar, they were refused entry. My sister-in laws left and I spoke to the barman who was adamant that he was right. I spoke to the manager (also a Michael) who once again quoted Health and Safety and said that work needed to be done overnight. It was a case of: "Sorry but that is the way it is." First of all we had been there for 4 days so there is no earthly reason I could not have accompanied my relatives to our room. Secondly anyone showing any consideration at all would not have closed the toilets until after 11.00 as many people use the facilities before leaving. At the very least they could have warned us beforehand. Thirdly, to quote the self same regulations, how can you serve alcohol without providing said facilities? This incident put a dampener on our whole evening. I would also mention that our room was very hot although the daily termerature was around 18 degrees. I hate to think what it would be like in a heatwave.
We stayed here for one night whilst touring Ireland. Check in was smooth and the hotel provided secure parking. Our room was really nice with a large comfortable bed, spacious seating area and modern walk in shower room. We also had great views of the River Suir. The free wifi was very good with excellent speed. We didn't eat in the restaurant at night but had breakfast there which was very good.
The Marina Hotel is situated on the banks of Suir river, tucked away in a neat corner of the city. It is unassuming from the outside but the opposite on the inside. The lobby is small and modest. The staff greet you with a wide smile no matter what time of day or night. The rooms were very comfortable with a double bed and small table and chair. The view of the river was appealing. The WC was a little dilapidated but functional. One downside is that the wifi is slightly slow. Overall the room was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was nice. Staff seated you fast and brought coffee and tea. Only criticism was that there should be separate utensils for meat and non meat options and also could do with separating them entirely so that they are not near each other. Sometimes the same utensil was used which was off putting for one of our friends who was vegetarian. In conclusion we really enjoyed the stay here. Its location is central, rooms comfortable and most importantly, the staff made us feel welcome.
