The hotel was nice enough and clean. No air conditioning, which the American feels is a necessity. We were unimpressed with the service throughout the hotel. However, our food in the restaurant was great.
Went for breakfast, food was fine but staff training was among the worst I have ever seen. I had a plate whipped from under me when I had barely finished and my friend had her plate whipped while she had her food still mid way to her mouth. It's not like they were mad busy and waiting on tables the restaurant was less than half full. Very bad for lads You need to sort this out!
I am part of a Gate 1 Tour touring Ireland and up to now, the hotels have been good to great. That ended today at Dooley's in Waterford. The Hotel is dated, many rooms require stairs up or down even after the small elevator so if you have bad knees, definitely a struggle. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was dry, over cooked and tasteless. After taking a walk, I retired to the room. I opened the window to find that we are over bar patrons. The room is hot, no air conditioning. I asked about a fan and they said that it would require a deposit. Like I am going to steal a fan! The bad was loud and even with the windows closed I could hear every word and song. I called down and they said "They understood but there was nothing they could do. But the band will only play until around 11:30 so by midnight, it should be cleared out". I am not a happy camper and gave Ben impressed with the hotels booked by Gate 1 but I am not pleased with this one.
Hotel was nice my room clean and the staff was friendly and efficient. I had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, which was a buffet with many items to choose from. No complaints or issues definitely would stay again.
Stayed at this hotel 26 /28 may for a family reunion my mum is in a wheelchair so we had a disabled room and a family room the rooms are very spacious and clean beds so comfortable everything about this hotel is great staff could not do enough only one tiny niggle waiting to be seated at breakfast takes a while ,food great service great will definitely come back to this little gem in Waterford city,
Great location centrally placed Very friendly, courteous and helpful staff Restaurant services were great Good array of food choices and was well done both for breakfast and dinner Rooms were modernized, clean
I was on a coach trip and we stayed here for one night. Rooms are basic and very clean, has everything you need. The food was very good with a selection of food on offer. It is lovely if you have a front room that looks out over the water
We just really liked this hotel. The staff was so nice and helpful, which can't be easy with a tour group. The desk staff and restaurant staff were all wonderful. The room was cozy and clean. You can tell they have done some upgrades in the bathroom. I love the older hotels where they work on keeping the ambiance. Our room was the first one coming from the elevator, but it wasn't a noise issue. There was more noise outside then inside.
This is a good hotel - I'm not sure if it's a 3 star or 4 star but the facilities are good. The room that we got, room 84, had a good view of the main road and the river. If you close the windows, the room is reasonably quiet and the bed, good and comfortable. The food served in their restaurant is exceptional. If u could, I would like to convey our compliments to the Chef and the management. What else do you want after a days travel.
We stayed for a night, very comfortable clean room, friendly staff. Hotel is a little dated but it ticked all the boxes for our needs. Location was ideal with bus station, town centre all in short walking distance.
