Unfortunately this experience was not o good one... the room is not even close to what is show on the website.... we had a view over a 4 mts square “yard” full of old stuff, the blankets on the beds were 20 years old, if I wanted to see the day light I had to go outside of the hotel. The bathroom was absolutely awesome, breakfast like a 2 stars hotel. They don’t deserve the money they ask. Sorry
We arrived as a couple for a carnival in Venice in 2018. The location of the hotel was excellent close to the city center and all the attractions. We enjoyed from the staff very well at the reception:EILIANA,ANDRIEA & STEFANO.Breakfast was also good and we enjoyed. Also the cleanliness level was high and pleasant in the hotel. Of course we recommend to all our friends about this hotel
This hotel was fantastic. We stayed for 3 nights inc breakfast which wasn't bad. The service was wonderful and super friendly. They really helped us with directions on arrival and gave useful tips. Short 5-10 min walk from San Marco Square and enough distance to avoid congestion. Some lovely restaurants nearby too. If coming here via airport, get a water taxi - expensive but straight to the square and you pushing a suitcase through narrow lanes.
Although this hotel is decidedly dated, it is in a great location to enjoy all Venice has to offer. We could easily walk to any location on our side of the Grand Canal and easily reach either a bridge or a vaporetto stop to get to other areas. The square is very quaint and the church is lovely. Venice is such a unique city and the hotel added to my enjoyment.
We started our honeymoon from Venice and the starting point was Scandinavia. Our flight was delayed due to weather and we came in late at about 9pm in the night. The reception guy was very warm and welcoming and since he had no bellboys he himself came upto the room to help our luggage. The staff was in general very welcoming, warm and friendly. They showed us the directions around and even breakfast was good. One let down was the room size. We felt that the room size was really small and we had 2 big bags and hence no moving space was left. Apart from the room size everything else was ok. From a location point of view, it was about 10 mins walk from st. Marks square where you get all tourist attraction and public transport services. Over all I'd rate it 3/5 Hope it helps.
We had a room on the fourth floor....no lift at the moment but installing one that will be ready soon! Great breakfast, lots of pastries and donuts. Great coffee and friendly staff. Room was pleasant, great shower. Easy to get to from the airport. Blue water bus line to Osperdalé and a 10 minutes walk from there. Will return
To finish our trip we decided to go to Venice, and we decided to stay at Hotel Scandinavia. The hotel staff was amazing, principally Stefano he was so friendly and helpful, I also would like to say thank you to a gentleman that was working there on the day we left, he managed to save us the hassle of going to a different airport and that just shows how much attention they pay to their guests. If I decide to go to Venice one day again I will definitely stay at Hotel Scandinavia.
We stayed here for a week in November 2017 and really enjoyed it. The Campo Santa Maria Formosa location is perfect; it is about 5 minutes away from both San Marco and Rialto but doesn't feel touristy, and local restaurants and cafes don't reflect inflated tourist prices. Lots of conveniences are nearby: grocery store, gelato place, snack bar, etc. The building itself is very old, which I found quaint. Rooms are a tad tiny, but hey, its Venice, and par for the course! Bathrooms look like they have been renovated recently, and are surprisingly big. An elevator is in the process of being installed, but we managed to hump ourselves up 3 flights of stairs a couple of times a day with no fuss. If you are the sort of person that enjoys unique, funky hotels with a lot of character, you will really like this place. The desk staff is a highlight. Very friendly and outgoing, with good recommendations for good, cheap eats. I really appreciated how attentive and nice they were to our 8-year daughter. They really seemed to get a kick out of talking to her and asking questions about the day's activities.
My partner and I stayed for a couple of nights in the Scandinavia hotel. We were greeted by Elena on our arrival, she was brilliant and could speak my native language perfectly (French) or my partner's (English). All staff was very friendly. The breakfast was excellent. We had a lovely room with an amazing view on the plaza. The hotel is in walking distance to everything you might need (shops, restaurant, waterbus etc). Top star hotel, highly recommended!
The room was extremely small. With very thin walls. Could hear the rooms all around us. You could also hear all the people walking back from bars passing under your windows even with them closed. The bathroom was clean but again very small. No place to set your toiletries. We found the girl who checked us in was very nice and helpful with restaurants in the area and how to get to land marks. We had to get the water taxi to the airport early in the morning and she was helpful in explaining how to do that and what time we should go. We were on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The bed was comfortable and the room worked for what we needed.
