Great location away from hustle and bustle. Room very dark and tired at back of hotel (16) was bitten first night then found mozzie thingy in drawer to plug in. NO instructions about anything in room...we could not even get air con to work INSTRUCTIONS are needed. Wasted SO much water trying to get hot water from shower or basin??!! However, room very clean and towels changed daily even though not necessary! Great choice for breakfast, but space tight in breakfast room. Lots of stairs but not a problem as we knew that before arrival. Would have recommended until last day, when we were told we could leave luggage during day as we had late flights. However, when we got back to collect and leave for airport was calmly told by manager that there were NO toilet facilities.FULL STOP. This is a problem in Venice when Public WC's are very few and far between and cost 1.5 Euros...we then paid 9 Euros for a pot of boiling water and two tea bags at cafe next door just so we could use loo!!!! No public loo's nearby. Staff and Manager very nice and helpful (until then...such a shame!)

Hotel Scandinavia is located on a wonderful church square within short walking distance of St. Marks, Rialto bridge and all the main shopping streets. The hotel is basic but clean and the rooms are shall we say on the compact side, It is however very reasonable and the reception staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Doesn't have a bar but does have a vending machine selling drinks including beer and prosecco !! Several bars and restaurants surround the hotel and a convenience store (Co Op shop) selling all the essentials and reasonably priced beers and wines is less than 5 minutes walk. A little tricky to find so my top tip is to learn the route from a recognisable land mark like St. Marks. Be prepared to get lost a lot in Venice but for your own peace of mind try to get lost during daytime hours. A little stressful wandering identical looking lanes in the middle of the night with a little too much vino on board. Google street maps in a Godsend so ensure your phone provider gives you a good data allowance and your holiday will be a lot easier . Reasonably good breakfast buffet served from 7 to 10 and seats and tables outside where you can sit and enjoy Italian street life. Front facing rooms have good views but the aforementioned vendors start early and will wake you. Also adjoining cafes have seating on the square and in fine weather people will be enjoying themselves into the early hours. Chances are you'll be one of them so no real need to worry !! Hotel accommodation is over 4 floors and there is no lift although one is being installed and mat be ready for 2018

The hotel is very clean and the rooms are quaint. the bonus was having a fridge in the room to cool drinks etc. The breakfast quality was great with a varied choice. There is no roof terrace but they do have seats and tables in front of the hotel where you are able to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine watching the world go by in Santa Maria Formosa Square. The staff are very friendly. The only downside is that there is no lift.

Booked this hotel 6 months in advance of trip as offered best value family room in central venice. We arrived via water taxi from airport with just a short walk to hotel. We were greeted very warmly by receptionist who was extremely helpful helping us to room and general advice on venice. Room quite small but ok for 1 night. Breakfast buffet style but very good and set us up for the day.

friendly staff wonderful old building with great charm. location is faultless, you can walk to all the major sites with ease. room and bed very comfortable, breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Many restaurants and bars a short walk away. Water taxi stop is a short walk away for those concerned about luggage.

Walking distance from Rialto bridge. This is a quaint hotel in a fantastic location. Room furnishings are a bit heavy and dated and room was small. Beware it has no lift but if your are fit and able then I highly recommend. We were on 4 th floor, hotel has lots of corridors but once you get used to it no issues. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

We stayed in Rome, Florence, and Venice. This was by far our favorite hotel on our trip. Located next to every tour we had. Right next to the boat taxi for the airport. The breakfast had the best pastries and it was included with stay. We will come back here again.

Stayed here for several nights. The location is excellent, staff was amazing and the breakfast was delicious. Biggest complaint was there was no elevator, but we managed. Stefano was a huge help to us during our stay.

An overnight stay for my family of four in this quaint hotel. It was easy to find and was in a pretty square. The hotel was clean and tidy with welcoming and helpful staff. The room we had was on second floor (No lift) and was big enough for the family. The bathroom was large and very clean. Breakfast was continental and served in a small room. Overall this was a perfect stop for one night. Photo taken from bedroom window.

Hotel Scandinavia has a terrific location. It's very central, just a short walk to both the Rialto and San Marco. The staff was very friendly, the room was small but clean and the buffet breakfast was very complete. Just beware that there is no elevator, but the staff is very helpful with carrying bags up the stairs.
