Hotel Mercure Venezia Marghera

4.0 out of 5.0

This hotel is located in Marghera, not far from Venice. Good location, good infra-structure and good service. It is easy to take a 20 minutes bus to Venice. The bus leaves each 20 minutes. It is easy to find the hotel by car.

had some problems getting here from the airport, as the taxi ranks were highly disorganised (felt a bit like in vietnam where clearly everyone was going to overcharge you except here they can legally make you pay 55 euros for a 15 mins drive so the taxi drivers were busy smoking and not working). anyway, once you get here, things get better. well, maybe. arrogant and annoying reception staff. at check in, we were couple of hours early so he asked us to wait (fair enough). but he then asked us for our accors club card to verify the number on the booking, then he said but since this was booked via expedia, no points will be earned. well, then why did you ask for the accors card??? we naturally avoided this guy for the next 3 days. however, on the last day when we checked out, we had already booked a taxi with the local taxi company to go to the cruise terminal. the staff at the reception asked us about it, so we told him we are waiting for the taxi company so no need to worry. guess what, taxi came, we boarded. at the cruise terminal, the driver said he wasn't from any taxi company and didnt run on meter (we didn't check!!) so wanted to charge a ridiculous amount. clearly, hotel staff works hand-in-hand with taxi mafia. we still feel bad about the taxi driver (the one we booked for) who would have showed up later at the hotel only to find us missing. very dishonest practice here. as you can see, our impression of venice is decaying by the day. actually, by day 3 we had enjoyed touring venice, sightseeing and all. so apart from the incidents above, things were fine. there is a bus, as other reviewers said, to take you into venice which is quite regular and cheap. just make sure you take down the correct bus numbers and don't board the wrong ones. i can't think of anything outstandingly pleasant. the room was just average (clean though) and hotel lobby was comfy. for these i give two stars to this hotel. its just a shame that the staff really sucked and especially dishonest. if not for having to board the cruise, i would have reported the incident to the authorities. sure, venice is extremely touristy and it is perhaps not unusual to expect poor behaviour just to make a few extra bucks. but mercure being a brand of global standing should not condone such behaviour from its staff.

We booked five nights at the hotel believing we were only minutes from Venice city. Unfortunately we were 25 minutes by crowded bus each time we went into Venice, but the service was regular. The hotel is modern, the room was spacious and had everything we needed including a stylish bathroom and tea and coffee making. However when we arrived we were given a room on the western side and freeway side of the hotel and the temperature inside the room was 26 degrees. I tried to operate the air-conditioning to no avail and when contacting reception was told the aircon was not operational for the rest of the winter and that we would need to leave the window open. Needless to say we had a sleepless night and the next morning I requested a room change to the other side of the hotel. This was effected without fuss and we enjoyed our room for the other four nights of our stay. The breakfast was extensive each morning and the restaurant was convenient at night as there weren't any trattorias within walking distance of the hotel. All the staff were friendly and efficient. All in all the hotel is a great place to stay, but we would think twice about staying there again and commuting to Venice each day.

I liked this hotel a lot, great room with very good interiors and all facilities of top class. Enjoyed my brief stay a lot and was totally satisfied. Breakfast has many options to had too. Certainly would by my choice on my next travels.

stayed here with group of 37 pax...good clean rooms...dinner at hotel wasnt good...breakfast was also not so good.they give time limit for breakfast. if you want sunny side up eggs, need to pay additional service wasnt really good.the only great thing about the hotel was the 2 receptionist, nicole and alice...they were so helpful even helping the group w luggages and increasing the coolness of the aircon.october the hotel shuts down the airconditioning.we were lucky nicole and alice opened our air conditioning. the other people in the hotel were not as helpful esp those at breakfast nothing much to go to around hotel.just the convenience store accross the hotel inside the gas station if you are just looking for a place to sleep at night, this is hotel is ok

Hotel is newly built quite close to Venice Mestre area, in Marghera. They have big parking outdoors and indoors (paying 10EUR).. Rooms are nicely decorated and kettle tea coffee available. Beds werent as comfortable as expected, they are using some lower quality mattresses...Breakfast is good choice for 4* hotel. Friendly staff!!!

I was there last year. Too late to review but the service of the team and the taste of the food was great!!! Though near to the highway, the surroundings were good and the atmosphere was awesome!! Kudos to the management! !

Rooms are comfortable & wifi is good. Location is near freeway yet it’s surrounding are pleasant & close to petrol station where you are able to buy from the minimart. Close to airport. If you drive the nearest foodies about 2km away. Breakfast is appetising with a reasonable range for a complete good meal.

I had a good first impression here. Spacious lobby area and friendly staff. Hotel room is spacious too, good maintenance and very good amenities. Vary menu for breakfast and I got what I like most. Just 1 point needed to be excellent is lift facility that too slow. But, overall, it's worth it!

If your there for the first time it’s intimidating and not easy to find at all it is off the beaten path. But it’s clean I wouldn’t want to stay there again but the bus trip was nice back and forth but after several days things went a bit smoother. If I ever go back to Venice I will stay on the island vs commuting
