Dorsoduro is a great location near the Accademia. The area is pretty and far enough away from the madness, yet close enough to walk if you love roaming through the streets in a foreign country. This was our second visit to the HAD. Many things have been mentioned in other reviews, but I just want to say that the photos of the rooms don't really do them justice. In the pix, to me, they looked overdone and potentially dusty, but in person, the rooms are beautifully thoughtful, immaculately clean and totally comfortable. There is a bench by the closet, lots of hangers and light. The bedroom has a day bed and a desk. The bathroom is large and ours had a small terrace and the water pressure is good. And the flocked wall paper is a perfect invitation to historic Venice. The staff at the hotel is rather kind and very attentive. Coffee in your room? Yes. Help finding a lost piece of luggage? Absolutely. Reliable water taxi to the airport? Arrived early! Drinks from the adorable lobby bar carried to the back yard? Why not! This is a gem of a hotel!

We stayed here for our anniversary. Upon arrival we had a bottle of champagne waiting for us. We were in the Apartment style complex and had direct access to a wonderful courtyard. This hotel is in the best area! It is about 18 minutes walking to the city center, but all honesty- you will only want to visit it in the evening because it can be sooo busy! So this hotel is perfect to walk to the tourist areas and then be close to the quite streets where you can get lost in. The room was very spacious and extremely clean. We loved this hotel and it was definitely the best hotel to end the trip!! Close to the boat taxis too!

This is one of the best hotels that I stayed in, I came there with my family and they gave us a 2 rooms with view to the Canal, It's 20 meters from the main Canal which means close to everything yet quiet , The breakfast was the best that I had on my trip to north Italy, it's rich and full of options , A small peace of haven , Looking forward to come back to this great hotel.

This little hotel is just far enough away from the crowds to be quiet and charming. LOVE the location. It is on a canal but nowhere near the tourists. So calm and quite. Highly recommend it. But like all hotels here, it is small. Staff is great. The place has a café/bar. Everybody speaks English.

Comfortable well-appointed hotel just off The Grand Canal close to the Academia and the Academia Bridge in a residential neighborhood. Our room had an excellent view (requested) from a small balcony looking towards the Grand Canal. It was quiet and pleasant. The bathroom was so tiny it barely held one persons let alone two. There was a step up so keep this in mind if you have mobility problems. The breakfast, included in the room rate, was generous and the buffet display held all you could want from the traditional continental European items of cold sliced meats and cheeses to boiled eggs, fruits, rolls and a variety of traditional local Italian bakery specialities. The coffee was good and the service was rushed on two mornings when the hotel was full. Access to vaperettos on The Grand Canal can be challenging, entailing crossing several bridges. Water taxis can dock in front of the hotel and a gondolier has a station at the closest bridge if you’re interested in a gondola ride.

My daughter and son-in-law stayed in Hotel American Dinesen last year and recommended it to us. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It's on a pretty street and canal close to the Accademia Bridge, which is a great location, and view. The room and bathroom were beautifully appointed, and very clean. We had a junior suite with a small balcony. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was included and very good food. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it highly.

Stayed here for five nights with extended family (grand-parents, in-laws, kids). We had all stayed in this hotel before, but many years ago. It was still great. Perfect location, extremely friendly and accomodating. Great breakfast which is not always a given in Italy. Highly recommended.

We were two adults and two teenagers and booked the junior suite (the one not with the canal view). The room had two separate areas with a king bed in one and two twin beds in the other. I think the area with the two twin beds is really a sitting area that converts to a second bedroom. Breakfast is terrific and Marco the Manager was very helpful both before and during our trip. We took a private water taxi from the aiport for Euro 110 and a private water taxi to the train station when we left for Euro 70 - expensive but totally worth it. There was one bathroom. It's a little small for 4 people but its sufficient. Here is why I think the hotel is a great choice. The crowds in Venice can be suffocating, especially near St. Mark's Sq and the surrounding areas. It's sort of like Times Square in NYC when it's crowded but with no space. If you want to be among that, then don't stay here. But, this hotel is located near the Accademia Bridge, Accademia Galleria, Peggy Guggenheim museum and lots of bars and reasonably priced restaurants. Staying here is like having the best of both worlds - 15 minutes walk to St. Mark's and the Doge's Palace but you come back to a quiet, clean, residential neighborhood with lots of students and some tourists who don't want to be with the crowds. The vaporetto stop is a 5 minute walk as well in case you don't want to walk too much. I highly recommend staying in Dorsoduro (unless you always want to be with the crowds) and I would stay here again. Plus, if you need space for 3-4 people, the hotel works without having to get two separate rooms.

With it's only jetty for arrivals, this local gem sits just off the beaten path, allowing for peaceful solitude and respite from the throbbing crowds when it all gets too much, but is perfectly located between Ponte D'Accademia and Punta Della Dogana when you want to get stuck in. Impeccable service, great staff, neat and tidy rooms in a gaudy but glorious over the top Venetian style. Only room for improvement might be their breakfast coffee - otherwise this is my true go to whenever visiting Venice

My teenage daughter and I stayed at Hotel American Dinesen and enjoyed the hotel and location. Very close to the central part of Venice yet just out of the way. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend.
