Very nice accommodation, street noise during the night though.

Very happy with condition of the room and location was perfect for our needs.

Staff were nice. The room itself was lovely and (most importantly) clean. The bed was comfortable and the toiletries were nice. It didn't take long, however, to realize that one can hear every single sound coming from the hallway (and in some instances, from other rooms). I'm not sure if it was because the door wasn't quite aligned in its frame (leaving an obvious gap at the top) or if the walls are mad of cardboard but I had to have white noise playing from my phone to try to drown out the talking from the neighbors and the squeal of children several rooms down. In the morning I was awakened by housekeeping staff talking, sniffling (sounded like it was right outside my door), and shaking plastic bags in the hallway. My friends were staying down the hall and the noise was just as bad in their room. If the sound wasn't such an issue I would recommend this place.

The shower scorched me Then went cold, then scorched me again.

Location was good for walking to Stanley park but required a bus trip for most everything else. The city buses were very easy to use and inexpensive. We bought day passes at the convenience store down the street as recommended by the hotel staff. The bus stop was right outside the hotel. Couldn't have been easier. Our rooms were on the street side and as expected a little noisy. The window unit ac did drown put some of it. The restaurant downstairs was great. Friendly staff, good deals on drinks and good food. Great breakfast also but not included.

Desk staff was really informed and gave great recommendations

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel, knowing the rate was a lot lower than other properties in Vancouver. Desk staff were very welcoming and helpful and friendly. It's an older hotel, showing its age in the hallways and the tiny bathroom that was typical of simple places in the 60's and 70's. I found that the bed gave me a backache, but my husband and daughter had no problems. In the evening, this is a vibrant, happening area, and it is a great setting for walks on the beach, the sunset, and lots of simple, ethnic restaurants and good pubs. Good value!

We did not know what to expect but we will return. Had a great time a reasonable price. Nice people and clean.

This Best Western in close to English Bay AND Stanley Park, walking distance to both. It's also in a very nice residential part of town and right on the bus line to the closest subway station (1 mile away). You don't need to rent a car if you stay here, unless you want to drive to North Vancouver, Whistler, and other locations outside of downtown. There are numerous restaurants within 2 blocks, from casual to smart casual. Although this Best Western does not provide the usual continental breakfast at this location, you will not miss it. Try out the nearby restaurants, so many to choose from, even a 24-hour Tim Horton's is right across the street. We liked the $10 BW reward provided per day if you did NOT require your room cleaning -- to be applied at the restaurant/bar in the same building!

It was such a good experience staying at Best Western Plus Sands Hotel. The location was great, and the staff was really nice. My husband and I definitely love it!

This is a nice location near the Stanley park and beach. You just walk about 2-3 mins that you would find a lot of restaurants at next street. Also, the room is very clear and quiet.

The hotel was clean, friendly and had a great location. The Hotel Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only minor issues were that the small A/C unit was way to loud to use at night and there was no Ventilation in the bathroom. The maintenance staff could use some instruction on upkeep and repairs. But all these are easily overlooked.

Was a quick stay. Room was comfortable. Nice bar in the hotel. No negative experience but nothing to differentiate either! Location would probably bring me back, it's very near Stanley Park and lots of nice bars and restaurants.

A very respectable, clean hotel in an unbeatable location. Staff are friendly. 2 excellent restaurants/lounges on site. The best value in town.

This hotel allows you to park when you arrive and walk to shopping, dining, and stanley Park. The parking slots are small even for compact vehicles (and you pay for parking). Window mounted air conditioners were were noisy. The rooms were very clean and the staff was friendly. I would stay here again just for the location alone.

This hotel is located in an excellent location. It is near the beach, near Stanley Park and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Everything you need is close by. It is much better walking in this area than trying to drive, and with so much located around the hotel it is really easy to find anything you would like. The restaurant attached to the hotel was good. Employees were friendly, the room was comfortable and the bathroom was nicely updated. Extremely comfortable bed and plenty of space in the room to relax. We would stay here again if we came to the downtown area of Vancouver.

was in Vancouver for the BMO race ,so was a good place to hang out

For the most part, the hotel was good, just dated somewhat. The room was a little noisy as a bus stop was immediately outside my window on the first floor and I could easily hear the TV and voices in the next room.. The girl at checkout was less than friendly, and would not give me a late checkout at 2:00. I had a conference at another hotel beginning at 5;00 pm and could not register until then.

The best thing about this hotel is the location - right across the street from Stanley Park and a short walk from lots of West End restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable (although fairly cramped, with two queen beds). The restaurant served mediocre food at higher than average prices. But the biggest down-side was the noisy neighbors. The rooms are not sound-proof at all and there were people yelling in the hallways in the middle of the night during both nights of our stay.
