Stayed two nights in Munich with business meetings at the Campeon. Hotel is 15 minutes away bei foot, nice walk in the park. Facilities are new and clean, staff was very nice.
Very spacious room and well equipted. TV remote control needed batteries. Would not rate this a 4 star because of lighting poor in all rooms. Seems energy conservation rates higher than customer satisfaction. Staff was very efficient.
We thought the pictures and price of this hotel were great, so decided to book a weekend in the Munich area. First, the rooms are not as attractive as they look in the pictures. While large and with separate bedroom, ours had a very cold feel, nothing like similar style hotels such as Residence Inn or Hyatt House in the US. Walls were all white and bare, which made it feel very sterile and not homey. The furniture was cold and creaky. There was no tv in the bedroom, and the one that was available was very old. Carpet was not as clean as we're used to. Don't be fooled, this internet does not have "free internet" as advertised. It is free for 30 MINUTES ONLY and ONLY IN THE LOBBY. There is no free signal in your room. Walls are very thin. Location is pretty far from Munich. There is a train station nearby, although we did not use the train to get to Munich, so I can not comment on the trip into the city. I can say that the area around the hotel is certainly not "exciting". There are not many restaurants or shops nearby. It is mainly a residential area with a grocery store and drug store in proximity. The breakfast buffet is amazingly overpriced at 17 Euros per person. Overall, do not be fooled - this is NOT a four-star hotel. I would put it more into the two-star category, MAYBE three if you give a lot of weight to the large room size. If you want to stay on the cheaper side (or perhaps with kids) and don't mind a longer trip into the city, you may not mind this place. If you are expecting typical 4-star accodations, service, and amenities, then you will be disappointed.
The rooms here were extremely large for European hotel rooms. It was close to a bus stop as well, though it was a bit difficult to find and the hotel staff didnt do a great job directing us to it. breakfast was great though. only problem for most people will be getting to the location. if you have a car and a GPS, however, it is very easy. they have their own parking garage as well which was nice.
Hotel is located within 5 min walk from Sbahn train wih shops, restaurants and grocery close by. My room had a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker which allowed a light breakfast. Room was comfortable, quiet and spacious by European standards. Wireless internet was free in lobby for 30 minutes only. After that you pay dearly; 11€ for 1 day slow service and 18€ for 1 day normal service. Wireless access is critical to business travelers so this hotel becomes 20% expensive for business travelers. Nice hotel, but it would great if wireless were not so expensive.
This was the last place my friend and I stayed on our 10 trip. The other places were hostels and were more fun. There was only one guy (not sure his name) who helped us out tremendously with details on getting places, etc. The hotel was far from the airport - 45-60 minutes and required us to take a taxi and the train to get there. However, all you had to do was walk to the S-Bahn and hop on that for about 20 minutes to get to Central Train Station and shopping. The front desk kept giving us free 15 minute vouchers to use the internet but the free internet was extremely slow. You could pay around 5 euros to get fast internet for an hour or around 12 euros to get fast internet for 24 hours. Not bad place but not sure I'd stay there again. The breakfast was 17 euros and the only main dish was eggs, sausage, and bacon. For 17 euros we expected pancakes/french toast/waffles, or omelettes, hash browns, etc.
