Beautiful hotel located directly on the beach and located in the middle of all the Tulum action. Restaurant has good food. Rally nice place to relax and unwind =]

By far the one best destination hotels I’ve been to. The staff was absolutely amazing! The facility splendid. I travel a lot & don’t normally write reviews but they deserve it!

Location was good. But is hard to sleep in a room where bed sheets are moist, towels never dry and there is no a/c to control room temperature and humidity. An ecofriendly hotel can have a/c. Too expensive for a room without a/c.

The property is still building and remodeling They put us in the room that is unfinished They chase you with restaurant bill Everything about the property is not satisfactory Beach was ok

On the beach, really cute rustic rooms with a complementary breakfast. Great location.

Pros: The staff was very nice. Front desk, to maintenance, to bartenders were friendly and helpful. Drinks and food at the hotel bar were great. Beautiful beach location. The room is aesthetically cute. Cons: We were prepared for using only the fan for cooling the room which was manageable during the day if you take a few cold showers. The problem is night time. There were no screens on the windows to our rooms so the place was flocked with mosquitos. The mosquito net provided was almost too small for the bed (not the kind that drapes over. You'll be struggling to close it from the inside) and even when fully surrounding the bed had holes in it. The worst part was that the net is so fine that no air lets into the bed so the fan was useless. Sleeping under the mosquito net without being able to feel the fan was impossibly hot and stuffy and it was only May. We had many sleepless nights. Room service leaves water for you since you can't drink the tap water, but after the first night the bottles they gave us were those little mini ones. Expect to buy a big jug for your room and be aware there is no fridge. There was a scented plug in in the bathroom area (which is open to your room) but ours was empty and the bathroom constantly smelled very strongly of sewer. The bathroom trash was also not empty upon our arrival to the hotel. CRITTERS! In our four day stay, we encountered two rats, a cockroach, and again, we are literally covered in mosquito bites. I'm talking 30+ each.

Location is great. Restaurant is the perfect setting to have breakfast overlooking the sea. Rooms were clean, and nice once you get used to the "rustic" feel. Lovely to hear the ocean from your bed and feels like you're in the jungle from the door. Rooms could use a full length mirror and another table/chair - as nowhere to put bags onto other than the floor and hard to read on the hanging beds! Our door handle also was hanging off - perhaps from a previous guest pulling it too hard, or from a break-in. Pool is more for show than to swim. Staff are lovely and attentive, not all speak good English (our check in late at night didn't so we had no information about towels, breakfast etc). Great place to stay once you settle into beach life!

We arrived late on Saturday, about 8 pm. At about 10 pm there was a rave started in the bar below the restaurant. They played a deep beat techno music until 8 am that reverberated in our room. The next day we asked if the music/party was a every night thing and received no definite answer. The next night they played music in the restaurant until 10. That was fine, but we never got an answer about the rave until tuesday when we said we were going to check out until someone confirmed there would be no rave music. The owner finally said there would be no more music. But Friday night the music came back and lasted all night. We checked out the next day. It is a lovely, primitive hotel that is perfect for Tulum, but all night thumping music is not part of the Tulum vibe. If he had just said there would be music again on the weekend we would have checked out before the weekend and this would not be an issue. but the owner lied to us and that is unacceptable. We would like a refund of three 3 days, the two nights we couldn't sleep all night and the last night of our reservation where we checked out early before checkout time.

Beautiful hotel with a laid back bohemian vibe, good music, friendly staff who speak little if any English. I'd say this hotel is best for people with at least SOME Spanish skills. I love it there but be advised that if you are wanting a place that has air conditioning, or where the staff speaks English, or if you get upset when food and drinks take a long time, this wouldn't be a good place for you.

This is my second time staying at Zulum this year. My fiance and I love it and almost don't know where to start. We wanted to eat and drink all meals at the restaurant/lounge on the beach. It's so incredibly relaxing and comfortable. You wont find anything better. If you're looking for a super plush experience, this may not be it however if you're looking for a beautiful soulful experience this is your place. The food is top notch. Made from scratch and absolutely delicious. As are the cocktails. The hotel staff is attentive. The rooms are a big quirky but very comfortable. I suggest booking a room on the 2nd floor for a mix of comfort and nice views. Sancho the donkey lives at the hotel and roams around. He adds a lot of charm and is veery friendly.
