This house was a magical place for my wife and me to stay while we visited our daughter at Cal Poly Humboldt. The ocean view and nightly sunsets were just amazing. The home itself was clean, cozy, and perfect for two people. (When the weather is nice, the deck nearly doubles the property's space.) We didn't have to communicate with the property managers while we were there, but check-in and check-out were a breeze. Two slightly nit-picky suggestions to make future stays even better: a) There were no food storage options for leftover food. We ended up having to buy our own Tupperware. b) The windows were really dirty when we arrived. Normally, I don't notice such things, but when the ocean view is obscured, you notice. If I were renting this place, keeping those windows spotless would be a priority.

Wow, amazing! This was the cleanest, best stocked rental house we have ever stayed. Minus one thing, there were a few ants in the bathroom, which was a bit of a drawback, but traps were laid out so obviously it’s a problem they are aware of. We loved it and were actually excited to come back to the house after a day out and about. The view was stunning and we got some gorgeous views of the waves, the trees, and the rain. The heating was very effective and the house was super comfortable. It’s very close to the town of Trinidad and many beautiful hikes in the area. We would love to come back in the summer and stay again.

Loved this place. Had everything we needed. Very comfortable furniture. The view is incredible. Hard to beat the 5 min walk to the beach. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very well laid out and furnishings are just right. Easy walk to the beach. Amazingly peaceful and quiet even though it isn’t that far off of 101.We enjoyed the location for access south to Arcata and Eureka, and. North to Trinidad and Redwood National Park. Highly recommend this property and we would stay again!

We stayed 3 nights at this quaint and well appointed mid-century home. The home has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Located above Moonstone Beach with great views from the balconies, it is an easy drive to many parks, beaches and towns including Trinidad, McKinleyville, Arcata and Eureka (a bit farther away).

Perfect spot for exploring Redwood NP

We wanted something with an ocean view close to Redwood National Park and this spot was perfect. We spent a lot of time on the deck listening to the waves and relaxing after a day of exploring!

The property was clean. The kitchen was well equipped. The house is very, very old and needs to be updated : the house smelled damp, which is understandable, considering it has not been updated in 30 years or so, and the newer windows and doors available would reduce that significantly. It definitely feels like walking into a time capsule. Getting to the place at night is a bit tough, because the GPS picks up the house right below it on the hill, and since the street name signs are difficult to read at night it adds to the adventure I guess. The fire place had a sign saying: Do not use. The bedroom heater had a sign : out of order. The bathroom had one of those fancy toilets with the built in bidet, but the remote control that runs it was not available. The shower sliding doors came off their track every time the door was used. The fan in the bathroom was just noise, no air movement at all. There was no hot tub, even though the contract had a huge section dedicated to tub risk and care, so that was disappointing, but my mistake for not paying attention to fine print (tub, if available).

Almost Perfect

The Wife and I did not bring any Dogs along, so this review is from the perspective of a couple escaping to the Coast for a weekend. Closest town is Trinidad, a quaint little seaside village with an overpriced grocery store, Gas station, and two overpriced restaurants; Seafood, burgers, or Pizza. South 10 miles on the 101 has many better options. Enough about that. Check in was easy, I unlocked the key box, and pulled on the ripped screen door. It opened at the top, but bottom was stuck. Once inside, we were greeted by a lovely little kitchen loaded with an oven, microwave, big sink, and cupboards that wouldnt open. The views from the living room and Balcony were Gorgeous though. The living room has a big tv, a desk, games, couches, and a fireplace you cant use. The bathroom has a lovely Bidet that was unplugged and missing the remote. We had a nice weekend, got to see the Redwoods and the Ocean, and had a comfy bed to sleep in. I'm happy. Would I stay here again? Nope. Dear Owner: Deferred maintenance is a bummer. Spend a little money and make everything work as it should. This place has great potential.

Amazing views! Clean, comfortable, well-equipped!

This house has just beautiful ocean views, and lots of sparkling windows so you can enjoy the view all the time! The reservation, check-in and stay were all very easy. The house is decorated in a sort of vintage style, we really enjoyed it. It’s a short walk to the beach and the Moonstone Cafe, which was very good. The kitchen is well-stocked and equipped and we ate in the second night. I stayed here with my sister while she visited for two nights, it was so nice! We sat on the upper deck and had coffee in the mornings, and also in the afternoon and evening. We didn’t really use the lower deck, although it is available for use. I would love to go back and stay longer. When we just talked about her visit last night with others, this stay was the first thing we both brought up, how great this house and view are! Highly recommend staying here, it’s location, comfort and view are excellent!

we enjoyed the rental...very comfortable and the 2 level decks with views were wonderful...same can be said for the views from the living room, bedroom and dining nook! Fabulous! The bathroom is very small, but doable. We would like to mention the directions to the home...we could not find a street name posted, and after going down 2 wrong streets, tried the one that appeared to be a private driveway...the one other thing we noticed was that although the listing included 2 parking spaces, there was only one as the other was taken by a covered vehicle (long term?). We would not hesitate to return!

This home exceeded all my expectations. It was well furnished, comfortable, and the location was incredible. We could hear and see the ocean from the back deck and it was a two minute walk to the dog friendly beach, moonstone beach. The property owners even left a notebook filled with cool places to see and visit on our trip.

We had a wonderful stay at the Sandpiper. The views are spectacular, the house was clean and comfortable and relaxing. We were able to have our small dog with us and it was very convenient and easy for us to manage her there.
