Just stayed 1night. Fast checking in. Free under shade parking. Outside hotel, convenient store and around hotel was all the restaurants, cafe & bars. 5mins walk to Victoria bridge. Beautiful scenery Room a bit old but clean & comfy. Bathroom amenities provided. Only down side is shower curtain bit short, water splashes n wet the floor. Coffee/tea provided. Good internet connection. Overall was good for us.

Fabulous hotel in great location. Super comfortable beds in a spacious room. Bathroom was a bit dated but it didn't spoil the stay. Huge choice of restaurants and pubs just outside the door. Easy free parking onsite. Would highly recommend. Excellent value fo money.

Conveniently located at Townsville's popular dining strip. Free parking is available at the rear of hotel. However, hotel is dated and requires a facelift, particularly the bathroom. Suitable for a short weekend trip.

Stayed at this hotel for a up and down trip to Townsville. Great little hotel along Palmer St. The rooms have been updated but not the bathrooms. Rooms are of good size with the standard amenities. Front office hotel staff was very welcoming. Still stay again.

Lovely room with a nice view over Townsville. The most comfortable big king bed. Bathroom with big tub to relax in. Lounge area with TV. The Rise breakfast had a great selection of foods to choose from.

We stayed here on New Year's Eve as friends were also staying at the same hotel. On entering the hotel the small reception areas become crowded with three couples waiting to check in. The pros - The bed was very comfortable and the room was a good size. It is in a good location for out purposes. The buffet breakfast was good. The cons - It seems that the hotel has had limited upkeep since being built and is in dire need of renovation and upkeep. The elevator was dark and dingy. The hallway leading to our room looks as though a home handyman has patched and painted the walls. The carpet had a dark stain which looked as though someone had vomited! The bathroom was terrible! It is worn out. It looks as though the tiles have been coated white at some stage on this is peeling off. There were some broken tiles that looked hazardous in the shower. The acrylic on the basin had worn off in places. What would have once been shiny chrome taps are now just a dull metallic grey. The usual amenities found in most hotels were lacking such as shower cap and little milks. Also he airconditioner dripped onto the carpet. As a Rydges member I was not offered a complimentry drink - probably because the bar had closed over the New Year period. I would not recommend anyone to stay in this property and would think that many of the backpacker would be superior!

It was our first time in Townsville, we traveled from Melbourne.i would not recommend this hotel , we stayed for 7 nights there. When we went down for breakfast for the past 3 they don't have any eggs, sausage , bacon , the staffs don't fill anything when running out. I wouldn't waste my money to pay for breakfast there. The only time we had nice breakfast when the chef sherelle was working, she will look after the customers. Until the 4th day of our stay our room wasn't made and cleaned. upon few requests the room was still not made, we had to call reception to get toilet papers. I used my debit card at check out and I was charged a credit card fees. Staff wouldn't refund fees charged on my debit card. Never again I will stay at this hotel. The only staffs i would thank are shrelle, Sarah and Danielle.

My partner and I opted to stay at Rydges, Townsville over the New Year's Eve weekend. On the booking website it was only a few dollars less than the nearby Oaks and we chose it due to a better internet deal. We love to watch Netflix to wind down at night. The internet was amazing. Great speed and we weren't disappointed with that. The bed was incredibly cushy and comfy with clean sheets albeit a couple of drop stains which we speculated could've been either wine or blood. However upon entry to the hotel, we noticed that it seemed like it hadn't been renovated since the '90s. The elevator was old and dirty, and there appeared to be poor security with no cameras in the lift or on the floor on which we stayed. The back door entrance was propped open with no swipe card access in the elevator, allowing anyone from the public to enter the hotel floors. The carpets of the room were dusty with crumbs and the room was also poorly renovated. There was a beautifully stocked minibar however there were no complementary "tiny milks" for my coffee provided, and we had to ask for toilet paper from reception as we weren't provided any extra rolls when our rooms were serviced during our 3 night stay. There was water dripping from the air-conditioner vents causing damp carpet underneath it. And the bathroom... Paint was peeling off the walls, there was mold on the ceiling and in the corners, and there was a shower curtain which I wasn't sure was clean and it barely kept shower water from splattering all over the bathroom. I haven't been in a shower with a curtain since the early '90s at least. There was poor ventilation in the bathroom, causing it to steam up even if the water was slightly hot. While the internet and bed were redeeming factors for our stay there, we won't be staying in this hotel again unless some major renovations are done. For a Rydges hotel, I felt like the 3 star rural motels I've stayed in have provided cleaner and more luxurious rooms than this place.

Thank goodness we are only passing through and staying one night. Carpets are filthy throughout the room and all hallways, shower is cracked, drawer will nuts etc in had dead cockroaches in it and stank. I've only been in the room for an hour and felt compelled to join Tripadvisor just so I could write this. The website for this hotel says "sophistication" there is nothing sophisticated about this place, it is just lucky the beds are relatively clean or I would have walked out and demanded my money back. I took photos but phone is not working 😡

We stayed in a two bedroom self contained unit accommodation that is across the road from the Rydges hotel itself. Should you want to access Rydges you need to walk and access the secure gate. We also didn’t find other convenience stores around and drove into town. The unit has its own parking spot and secure entrance. There is a elevator to the upstairs apartments. Inside the unit each room has its own air conditioning and fan. The beds were comfortable and it was a quite spot. The decor of the unit itself is bland and drab. We noticed the walls appeared dirty, repairs had not been painted over or finished and there was slight damage to basins and tiles. The balcony is a good size, as is the unit overall and was a nice spot to retreat to. The master bedroom also had a spa bath and shower combination.
