Location east of town near convention center and several restaurants, friendly service staff and welcoming reception. Renovated Holiday inn express, indoor pool and exercise facility. Located on top floor away from elevator as requested on Premier Priority Club Member status.
The last review was low a couple years ago but this time it was much better. The water pressure on the 4th floor (417) could have been better but marginally adequate. The water temp was very good, though. The hotel appeared clean with comfortable beds and good lighting. The internet ant TV were very good, too. The breakfast area was clean with tasty selections. The staff was very polite, professional and greeted me when ever I appeared. I will be back.
One night here, we arrived in town only to find rooms were hard to come by. There were a couple family reunions and a convention in town. Found a room here. I called ahead to reserve and was told they do accept AAA discounts. Check in was hectic and the clerk was being micro managed by her co worker. We were given cards for a custom made to order breakfast in the morning. Room was clean and spacious, comfortable beds and pillows. Went down for our custom breakfast in the morning and as we sat down we were informed they were too busy to honor the "custom" breakfast that was included in the price of the room. That was a little disappointing, but nothing to complain about. When we checked out, I asked again about the AAA member discount and was told again they would not honor AAA. I then informed her their restaurant had also cancelled the custom breakfast. She called the manager over and he discounted the room, so I have to say they will try to correct any wrongs. All in all, I would stay here again, I think we just hit them on a bad weekend.
This hotel is listing as a Non-Smoking hotel when it is not! We arrived around 10 pm after hrs of traveling and had already made our reservations online. The front desk assistant was very pleasant but once getting to our room, it smelled very musty and smokey. I called down to front desk thinking they had put us in the wrong room because I was expecting a Non-smoking room. I was told that all rms used to be smoking rms but until they could renovate, they just couldn't get the smell out of the carpets. We're not a smokers so it really bothers me that our trip has just begun and all our belongings will probably smell of a stench of stale cigarette smoke. Very disappointed. Also we are on the 3rd floor and it is very late (11:45 pm) and we keep hearing banging in the hallways and upstairs.
I am a platinum elite IHG member and expect to be treated as such. First off, the hotel is extremely difficult to find. Directional signage is non existent. When I called the hotel for directions, the person on the phone laughed...thought it was funny that I couldn't find the property. I always request my 500 welcome points. After nearly a month and three requests, I finally had to call IHG to get my points. The people at the hotel couldn't have cared less. If I am ever in this area again, I will choose other IHG properties. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. Texarkana East should be avoided.
Passing through with my family we stayed one night. The lady at the desk was very friendly and kind. The hotel was clean, and the room was comfortable. It is a great location off the interstate with lots of food options around.
One of the nicest HI Express we have stayed in. On check in the friendly front desk staff gave us all the pertinent information, hours for breakfast etc. Also informed us they were serving complimentary hot food for the next one hour. Having been on the road for the last 8 hrs. that sounded good to us, but did not expect a meal or anything. Wrong! They were serving Salisbury steaks, corn, and macaroni/cheese. Plus a large table of desserts including cookies and cakes. Also a tub of complimentary soft drinks. Only dig here was the sweet tea. kind of yucky. Breakfast the next day was very good also. Our room was HUGE, with two queen beds with plenty of room left over. Beds and bedding were top notch for a great nights sleep.. Almost sorry could only spend one night!
Not wanting to drive 5 hours straight by myself, I stopped here for one night. Had planned to go out to a movie, but the room was so comfortable that I stayed in. Didn't know that there would be a small fridge and a micro. Bed was comfy and the room was quiet (except for early morning talkers in the halls) and cool. Breakfast the next morning had a few Paleo options as well as the usual grain-based offerings. Staff was pleasant and helpful. There was a self-serve laundry room down the hall. This HIExpress is located in an area with about 5 other hotels, including a Hampton Inn, BW, and a Holiday Inn. In the summer, there's a water park down the street. Although it's 8 years old, it seems newer. I didn't experience the problems others did, and was very satisfied.
I booked a two bed queen suite using the IHG app. We checked in and went to the room. Upon opening the door, we saw that the room was already occupied by other guests. This was a bit frustrating as I have a broken leg and my wife was stuck carrying all of our luggage. We went to the front desk where the girl working told me FIVE times that it was MY FAULT for booking a room that was already taken. Wow. Just Wow. I stated that I did NOT choose a specific room number when booking, just the room type. She said AGAIN that it was my fault for booking an already occupied room. The room she gave us was a less expensive room and the bathroom was not clean. We did not get any money back for the lower quality room even though it was asked for. My advice: Stay elsewhere
We stayed here because we were just traveling through on our way home from vacation. It was clean & had free breakfast with some healthy options. It is not a new hotel but was fine for a good nights' rest. There aren't any restaurants within walking distance.
