Just returned from a week at the Hotel Gran Tenerife. What a find! From the welcoming staff on reception to the cleaners in our room they all portrayed an ethos of welcoming guests. Every member of staff greeted you when they passed you, looked very smart in their uniform and their collective training of putting the customer first made you feel a valued guest. The cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding throughout, the high standard of service mirrored the efficient way the hotel was run and the thoughtful way it had been designed. I travelled with my mum and I must single out Abdon one of the Maitre D's in the buffet restaurant who always greeted us with such care, attention and respectfulness. He is a credit to your hotel and made us feel very special, ensuring we always had our favoured window seat at every mealtime. In addition Marina the entertainment manager and Mia did a fantastic job and were also so friendly and carried out their roles conscientiously and so friendly. In spite of working long hours they always had a smile on their faces and were willing to stop for a chat. I have stayed at many four star hotels in various countries and this is up there with the best for food quality, room comfort, cleanliness, beautifully presented outside spaces and mostly the collective team spirit and happiness of all the staff where nothing was too much trouble. The location is perfect with access onto the beach sraight onto the promenade with easy access to seafront walks in either direction. We enjoyed the Sangria at Monica's just to the right as you face the sea with welcoming staff and the toasted sandwiches and view at Mania's to the left was the best. We are already planning our next visit to this hotel. It was the only hotel I have visited where I couldn't think of anything worth noting that I wasn't happy with! Well done everyone for all your hard work making our stay with you so enjoyable! Collectively you were all amazing.
Nice hotel centrally located on the sea front. The staff were very attentive, especially in the restaurant areas and at reception. We had booked a superior room with balcony and sea view. The view from the balcony was superb (8thFloor), unfortunately it was stretching it a bit to say it was "superior". The dressing table chair could not be used as the gap between the bed side and the back of the chair was only about 10 inches, just enough room to squeeze past sideways. Locally there were many shops, bars etc. At the front of the hotel the area was fairly level but the the rear and along the beach there were many steps and some fairly steep slopes. (My wife had a foot problem and had to use a crutch which proved particularly difficult.)
30 years ago I vowed never to return to Tenerife, in particular the Playa Las Americas area, due to the cleanliness (cockroaches) and timeshare hawkers around at the time. Happy to say after a visit to northern Tenerife last year, and having spent our last day in Playa de las americas finding it to be vastly improved, we booked to return this year. Although we were told that in heavy rain you will see the return of the cockroaches!! Flights with Easyjet were good, no issues and transfer time via taxi from airport to hotel was around 25-30 minutes at a cost of approx. 25 euro. each way. On arrival (noon) our room wasn't ready (expected as advertised as 3.00pm check in) but we were asked to relax and enjoy a complimentary glass of cava in the foyer bar. Once our room was ready we checked in and were pleasently surprised to be given a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite. The room was large with modern decor and furnishings although perhaps could do with some T.L.C. in terms of decoration, but overall very clean. We had opted for "privelege" which gives better rooms, upgraded amenities pool towels, toiletries and exclusive hotel areas and benefits throuout the hotel. Having also joined the H10 club prior to booking we also received an introductory discount on the booking and a gift of chocolates and a free cocktail each, so well worth doing. The privelege status includes an air conditioned lounge area leading to an exclusive terrace (surrounded by the general hotel pool areas) with cabanas and soft cushioned loungers etc. plus a jacussi separate to the rest of the hotel. A free newspaper each day and chocolates / turn down service in the evenings. The lounge area has plenty of seating and 2 large screen t.v's with english and other national programs. the main feature of the privelege bar is the constant availability of branded spirits, local beers, fizzy drinks (coke fanta) jusices tea and coffee all complimentary and self service from 9 am til 9 pm. Also included with privelege is breakfast in either the buffet or a la carte restaurant, and a choice of lunch or dinner (must be pre booked) again in either the buffet or a la carte restaurant. Opinions are a bit divided on which is best but we preferred the a la carte restaurant for evening meal and breakfast as food quality was better and waiter service. We found the buffet slightly dissapointing in terms of choice and somtimes temperature of the food not hot enough. Only downside to the a la carte i would say is that the menu does not change and can get a bit repetative although they do offer daily specials and a barbque on a Wednesday night with a local singer who is ok. Weate out on a couple of occasions just to sample something different at the Tepanyaki in Adeje marina and at the Hard rock Cafe, plus a tapas one afternoon at the castle tapas nearby. Drinks in either restaurant are chargeable. Jiorgio and his team at the a la carte deserve a special mention for their friendliness and attention. Indeed all the staff we encountered were very friendly from desk staff to cleaners. The hotel has its own casino which you are free to join at no cost. Location of the hotel is quite good but a good 15 to 20 minute walk to CC Veronicas and Tramps should you want to visit the livelier side of town. We took a cab to The Hard Rock Cafe on the Golden mile and walked back via all the nighspots to the hotel at a leisurely pace, and on another walk out the other way as far as and slightly beyond the Marina at Costa Adeje. The coastal path between the hotel and the Marina is very pleasant, There are many Tapas restaurants nearby all offering 6 dishes for 20 euro, enough for 2 sharing and beer prices around and about start at around 1.50 euro. Siam park and Siam Mall are both within a 10-15 minute walkalthough more strenuous as uphill from the hotel. Only other comment to make which is down to fellow guests is the reservation of loungers on the privelege terrace. I find it really annoying when you find towels left on loungers only to watch them hardly occupied all day. The hotel says it will remove towels etc. from unused loungers but we did not see this happen once during our stay with some loungers reserved and not used albeit for maybe an hour!
Our first time to Tenerife although we have been many times to the other Islands. We were on our usual springtime week in the sun and thought to try Tenerife for a change from Gran Canaria our regular trip. The hotel is high rise on the Seafront overlooking a dark sandy beach which gets quite busy.We asked for a low room as we don't get on too well with heights and were given a bungalow type room near the pool which was fine. However you do lose out on the view and the balcony isn't as nice. The food was excellent with good choices and good fish with really good baked bread and pastries.Service was very efficient and friendly in the dining room but was a bit slow in the bar and Theatre and some bar staff were a bit offhand. The pools were quiet and relaxed(being Couples only) with the only heated pool being shady in the morning. The only downside was there was no waiter service poolside so you had to carry drinks etc. yourself. The hotel being on the front had a walkway on the edge of the sea which was lovely and took you one way to Playa Des Americas which was a bit "Kiss me Quick" but fine in the day with shops on the way and the other way to Porto Colom which had a Marina and quite nice bars and shops. The hotel ticked a large number of boxes and was well positioned for quiet walks and shopping or nightlife if you wanted it . Altogether a good holiday experience.
Excellent location very clean everywhere. The privilege package is excellent & well worth the extra money. I'm a coeliac and need gluten free food the 1st thing your asked at checking is if you have allergies they give you a card that states what allergies you have & when ever your at the restaurant you place this on your table the service was excellent and the staff & chefs could not do enough for you excellent idea.
This time we came with other members of the Family. Many thanks to Mariska ( the red haired lady) who really looked after us at check in to ensure we had the sea view rooms on the same floor. As always the hotel both inside and out is kept lovely and clean. The staff are so hard working but will always offer up a smile.I for one stay on a sunbed To reserve it so it's nice to see that towels are removed from sun beds if nobody is on them before 10am You are told of this so be warned. The sea view rooms face west so you get the lovely sunset from your balcony but before that happens the sun is very very hot and you might have to take refuge behind the curtains to shield you from the sun. Buffet breakfast is a good selection and the evening meal is also buffet. We saw one day a man at the evening meal go round and check the temps of the food. I afraid this is why I cannot give the hotel 5 stars as the food can be a little Luke warm at times.I never had hot soup all the time as was there, if I was severed that in a restaurant it would have gone back. The evening meal dishes really run out quite fast due to the sheer volume of guests getting their meals so you end up waiting for replenishment of food or choosing another dish Overall these are small points but could be tackled perhaps in a different way . Lovely walks either side from the rear of the hotel with plenty of bars and cafes selling beer at 1 euro a pint can't be bad
We had a superior sea view room on the 8th floor which had terrific sea and coastal views both sides. We sat and took in these views from the balcony most evenings which was very relaxing. The hotel could not be faulted in its cleanliness, friendliness of staff and general helpfulness. The entertainment that we saw was very good. There was a wide choice of relaxation areas at the hotel especially the decking area over the beach. We certainly would return to this hotel asap. There are plenty of places to have a quiet drink and a walk along sea front in both directions.
we had the prestige package which in other hotels is known as club package or royal level. we had a personal check in then were showed round the hotel then got into our room around 2pm. 9th floor with an amazing sea view and surrounding area. I think having a high floor to escape any music coming from nearby bars doesn't really matter with a sea view you can still here it but the music finishes up around midnight anyway. the prestige lounge and sunbathing area is one of the best I've come across ( Barcelo Castilio royal level Fuerteventura this is what your level should be like ) your room key gains you access to a lounge where leather sofas await next to fridges that stock cava all wines , beer , soft drinks and on a separate shelf you have vodka gin whisky etc. The outside area has sunbeds some with cushions , 4 poster beds and chairs with shades if required. As part of the presige package we used the a la carte restaurant for breakfast and dinner at no extra cost you just pay for your drinks as we were on a half board basis , just had to try the smoked salmon and caviar for my breakfast while looking out over the ocean. Lots of reviews have mentioned Jorge but i'm going for young Manuel what a character he loves Real Madrid so i mentioned Barcelona to him and he yapped on like a budgie i couldn't stop laughing he really is a great guy. Didn't see entertainment in the hotel not for me the local bars have a lot of music acts . Time share touts are still about near Veronicas strip just a FIRM no thankyou gets rid of them and lookie lookie guys are always a good laugh. 100% recommend this hotel and have done to everyone i know. We will be back here later this year and in years to come . Great job everyone at h10 Gran Tinerfe
Great holiday in the Gran Tinerfe Tenerife the staff are amazing and friendly, been hear so many times and this is the first time we have had an issue with our room N20 not situatied within the main hotel and getting tired, but we still had a fantastic holiday
Ups...We had a superior room on 8th floor which had fantastic views of the sea. All areas of the hotel were very clean. The staff in general are very helpful, especially in the restaurant. At breakfast they will bring pots of coffee and hot milk to your table, not tea. They give glasses of Cava to drink which was a bit early in the day for me but lots of guests did have it. There's plenty of fresh food to chose from every day. In the evening they have a section where food is cooked in front of you plus each day different foods are available. The fish was especially fantastic. Pool areas are well maintained with a parasol for each pair of sunbeds. Additional padded sunbeds with pillows are around each pool too. Towels can be exchanged at the Spa reception, best to do this in the morning. Do not leave towels on beds before 10am as they will be removed. There is a privilege area option (34 euro PP per day) Downs...Room was a bit worn looking in places & large lamp broken but not enough to complain about. Tea & coffee wasn't topped up in our room. After asking maid, referred to reception. This happened on 3 separate days having to ask. The receptionist then said the hotel charges 3 euro a day & it's clearly shown in charges but added they should be replaced daily. When I asked to see charges in print, she couldn't find it. I said I wanted to complain about the charge and she came back saying we wouldn't be charged. I've never stayed in a hotel that charged this and it left me feeling they were sneaky. Please check your itemised room bill in case you are charged. Can be pricey as small Cava bottle in room is 11 euro, in the supermarket next door, it's 7.90 euro for a large bottle. There's a notice saying they may remove items from the fridge if you put things in. Evening entertainment seems geared up for 70/80 plus age group. We went out as there is plenty to do in the resort. Breakfast gets hectic from 8.45am. Staff can't cope with the volume of guests at the busiest times, so often there's no tea pots, milk pots or hot water. English breakfast items aren't the greatest (except eggs freshly fried) but beans are always luke warm. Overall this was a great holiday though and I would stay again.
