The two night stay was amazing. The tower room was very spacious. We took advantage of South Coast's amenities. Their restaurant and tasting room is five star with excellent staff service! The pool was relaxing as we chatted with other guests. Very pleasant. A suggestion, install a handrail or steps near the indoor jacuzzi. It was bit precarious getting in and out after a few glasses of wine. 😁 Speaking of wine, when booking outside of South Coast's website, the guest does not receive a free bottle of wine, which was a disappointment since this was my newlywed weekend and wanted to enjoy a glass with my wife.

The location is great, close to Old Town Temecula and in the heart of the wine valley. I am in the hotel business - appreciated the staff - very friendly and attentive. The hotel itself, however, is very dated and needs a refresh badly (and while a nit, the showerhead placement is the oddest I've ever seen and does not work very well). Fitness center was very nice. Finally, F&B program is lacking - only one restaurant/bar and hideously overpriced.

Issues with the restaurant— we were a party of 10 and service was slow, one of our party didn’t get his meal until the rest of us were finished (his meal was comped; it was an error by the cook), 3 complaints about too much salt in salads and a salmon dish; the waiter took way too much time getting our orders tallied for payment. Overall judgment: none of us would go back to the restaurant.

Overall a very nice getaway, but some parts of the villas are a little dated. We booked a space with two queen beds as there were three of us staying in the room, however most items are set up for two people only (number of glasses for wine, two mugs, two chairs for the dining table inside and out). There was also nowhere to really hang towels except for one hook on the back of the bathroom door. we had wet bathing suits, pool towels, hand towels and regular body towels that could never quite dry because of that. Also we were getting ready for a wedding and could have used some other mirrors in the room, one of the outlets in the bathroom was not working and we were trying to squeeze into a tighter space with curling irons and blowdryers to make it work. If there was an extra mirror in the common space it might make things a little easier. We ended up requesting more blankets because there were only think sheets and a thin blanket on the beds. Not sure if that’s typical but wanted to mention. We really enjoyed the pool, but the hot tub seemed a little green, though I heard it got a little better after a couple of days. The staff was extremely accommodating though, going above and beyond with amazing attitudes and general helpfulness. The restaurant onsite was also wonderful, but very overpriced. The service at the restaurant was excellent though.

Trouble checking in - Front desk said room rate we paid did not agree with the room type reserved. After we waited for over a half hour, they upgraded the room type and gave us a bottle of wine. Room was clean when we checked in, but we never received housekeeping service during the 3 days we were there. Desk waived the resort fee as a result. Their inefficiency cost them revenue. And we would rather have had the experience we expected than the credits received.

A far cry from when we last stayed here, years ago, yes. Times change, yes but this was an extreme disappointment. No blankets for the rom. They were being washed. Menu at restaurant was lacking n options.
