Checked room first we were tired and didn't notice stained carpet, dust on everything, dirty bathroom sink, hair in corner of bathtub-shower until next morning. A guest in a room next to us tripped on a loose tile on the steps and fell. He was not injured but could have easily been. Complaints to front desk were ignored and we paid $226.99 for ONE NIGHT! Our stay was memorial day weekend. We thought there might be a credit done by management, just got statement there wasn't.
This is not a modern, shiny plastic place. It is Old School charm and comfort. ·Friendly and welcoming staff, and more than ample, easy parking. The bed was great. More TV channels than I could handle. And the location is walking distance from Taos Plaza, great restaurants, and shopping (if you do that). Being on the north end of town, it is somewhat saved from the mass of tourist traffic in the summer. The rooms was huge, with a separate bath/dressing area entirely. The New Mexican decor adds charm. This is not your thin-walled, tiny new, plastic motel. This is Old School comfort. For a night I was back in the 60's! Only glitch is I wish the shower head had delivered more water pressure. Also, would have been nice to have breakfast on site as well. Otherwise I liked everything about it.
The enjoyment started with a motorcycle ride through the Taos Canyon...wow the Rio Grande was moving. There were several photo opportunities to take advantage of. The Taos Diner 2 was great and highly recommended by the very friendly front desk at restored Kachina Lodge. Met the new owner who was super excited to talk about the restorations and upgrades. I am looking forward to returning and staying there ag as in the rates were fair and rooms comfortable.
I am sharing a recent experience on a trip to Taos New Mexico. I booked a room for two days at The Kachina Lodge. What a wonderful comfortable stay in a nostalgic hotel. Kachina Lodge emminated days gone by of great hospitality and friendliness. The Rio Grande Gorge was a sight to behold ! The bighorn sheep were magnificent animals to observe. The dining at Micheal's as recommened (with bakery) was simply delicious. The real chocolate factory in the historic plaza is amazing. You will enjoy all of the art throughout the whole area.
We loved our stay at The Kachina Lodge. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. Our hostess, Cheryl, told us how the lodge had recently been purchased by new owners and please excuse any disorder during renovations. They are in the process of restoring the property to its former magnificence. Our room was very comfortable and well setup. One must is a stop at the coffee shop. Our fantastic waitress Zoe, was very attentive and served us a fantastic meal. When we head back to Taos, we will stay at The Kachina Lodge again.
The southwestern charm of the superbly located Kachina Lodge de Taos is being buffed up to perfection by new (January 2019) owners Mrs. and Mr. Pinder Gill and their incredible team. Located about 0.5 miles from the historic Taos Plaza and at the gateway to the Taos Pueblo, Taos Ski Valley Road (Route 150), Northern New Mexico's Wild Rivers Recreation area and the D.H. Lawrence Ranch, we totally enjoyed our quiet, one night stay in non-smoking Room 124 with a King bed, microwave, bar fridge, wi-fi and new tv. Recently renovated, this spacious room had parking right in front (as most of the 120 rooms do), There are still some kinks, but the freshly painted room, new bed and bedding and spacious sink and separate shower / commode areas helped with our enjoyment of the property. The rates are reasonable for such a prime location in Taos, and I'd challenge you to find another property with this kind of value proposition. And it's only going to get better as the refurbishments continue (and only refurbished rooms are being used!). We've already recommended this property to several friends, and look forward to another stay once the pool opens up! Taos is really happy to have such a passionate hotel operator and team improving this landmark, iconic property!
This hotel is the WORST! Don’t be fooled by the exterior or the refurbished lobby the rooms are terrible! Stained and patched carpet- stained and dirty walls- bathroom/tub corrosion and completely WRONG was a dirty bedspread !! This place is just a joke...oh and the internet doesn’t work! The price in Trip Advisor wasn’t honored and the man was not real friendly! Go anywhere but here
The reason we booked this particular hotel was that it had a few good reviews and offered a 50% off coupon for breakfast and had a restaurant. Neither of these were true, even though the signs outside the property advertised a restaurant and a lounge. The front desk person said they hadn’t had a lounge in years. The restaurant was working on opening. We had paid in advance so decided to stay anyway. The room was large, but the carpeting was old, worn and appeared to be very dirty. The bathroom was in severe need of an update also. The lobby was very nice and the whole facility has interesting architecture. The rooms are large, so if an update was done and they actually provided what they advertise, this might be a great place to stay.
Not a place to stay, beds were infested with bed bugs. and stale smelling rooms. Had to move to another hotel. Staff was friendly. Definitely, ancient, needs to be upgraded, updated and renovated for improvement.
I had a pleasant, easy check in, but I had a couple questions. Where's the Ice machine? And they gave me the wrong PW to login to internet. The gal that was working the evening shift on March 25, didn't get her name, was super rude. I asked where the ice machine was. She told me and I thanked her. She said nothing. Thanked her again when I left. Nothing again. Had to call because they gave me the wrong password for internet access. She gave it to me and just hung up on me. I find this very rude. I'm in customer service and would never treat anyone like that. Is it so hard hard to say YOU'RE WELCOME? Not sure if they have breakfast or any other amenities as they as doing a lot of remodeling. Okay, my bad for not asking, but nobody offered to tell me anything, except where my room was. And I had to ask for that. Very impersonal. My first impression was BLAH.
