Original Sokos Hotel Viru4.0 out of 5.0

For a relatively expensive hotel, I was surprised to find no soap, lotion, etc. in the room. And no bath tub. Also, getting the registration straight was a problem, with people behind the desk not too friendly about getting it right. Crowded sauna with five people in a tiny room...Those are the complaints. What was good: comfortable rooms, great location near to Old Town.
we stay at this hotel in center of Tallinn, Estonia one day and night. we had room in 21 floor, old town, sea and harbor view. It was super!!! room nr 2107 after short day in Viru shoping center we spent moody evening with friends at show dinner in restaurant Merineitsi. Program was super. Dinner was too- very good. only thing, what wasnt too good as we expected....bed in hotel room. the bed was too soft, that when one moved even a little bit- then your partner was like in waves.... and the breakfest....for this level hotel - it was not to good. coffee- was bad no fish dishes.....and so.
We travelled to Tallin for a Rosen Method world congress and we were pleasantly surprised with both the location and services offered at the hotel. We upgraded to a room on the 22nd floor and fell in love with the city and see view. Breakfasts were good and we also had good meals provided as part of the conference. There are also two beauty/ salons independent of the hotel (but in the hotel). We loved the friendliness of the staff but was a little disappointed with the hotel’s own street level mexican/mixed restaurant - that area could be made much nicer and include healthier options on the menu.
Very comfortable for my two-day stay in Tallin for my business trip. I felt very well in my comfortable room on the 18th floor with the opportunity to watch the scenic view of Tallin in the snow (even though it was the end of October)...And good food, skillful staff, well equiped room with facilities - nothing more nothing less.
Rooms are OK but - in upgraded room - I had a bath of the cheapest material which was a bit strange compared with the other fine interior. Excellent restaurants and breakfast. Very helpful staff. KGB museum at the top floor is very interesting!
I have stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and I enjoyed it very much. The weather was really poor so I spent more time in the room and hotel than initially planned. I have not regreted my choice at all. Breakfast is reach and varied.
The main advantage of this hotel is that located next to historical center of Tallinn. There is also a Mall beside it.All the other facilities are very poor for a four star hotel. Especially the bathroom need totally renovation. The rooms are small, there was no space to leave suitcases and there was not wardrobe. At the breakfast there were too many people and it was difficult to find available table. As conclusion this hotel is like a three star.
I was visiting for a conference. The standard room was incredibly basic. Not even a drawer where to put my shirts, which had to stay in the luggage. And no place for the luggage which had to stay on the floor. If you consider this in a very small room, I barely had space to reach the bed without jumping over the suitcase. The bathroom is also a bit old and basic. On the good side, the view from my room on the 20th floor was stunning. I could see the entire old town and the harbour. The staff is nice and the breakfast really good.
The location of this property is perfect with both the Old Town and ferry terminal in close proximity. The hotel is attached to a modern and convenient shopping mall that has a wide range of products and services. I am always impressed when property managers take the time to respond to reviews, and it appears that they are truly interested in improving the customer experience. However some changes are in order. There is a little too much attitude at check-in desk which was rather cold and unfriendly. The room décor is tired and worn with cheap furniture such as end tables and toilet seats. The bathroom has a step-down to a slippery wooden floor and the shower seems to splash water everywhere - I took quite a tumble stepping from the bathroom onto the parquet floors. That same change in level will cause problems for people with mobility issues. The small rooms have little storage or counter/desk space in the rooms, and they seem to be quite noisy - hallway traffic is boisterous and while not the hotel's fault, it still can prevent a proper rest. It looks like there are two hotels sharing the lobby which caused confusion at breakfast and check-in.
We had a superior room with a kettle, fresh bottles of water each day and lovely window seats with a great view over Tallinn. The beds were very comfortable and there was no noise at all from next door or above. We had a lovely time.
