a wonderful, cozy, clean, mysterious hotel in an old mansion in the heart of the Old Town. Delicious hearty breakfasts and caring staff. hree minutes to the Town Hall Square, old streets, shops and restaurants
A good location and friendly staff. An interesting building with many stairs and hallways, however, the worst possible choice for elderly people and families with babies. Breakfast was ok and the rooms were tidy enough. The hotel didn't have the kind of historical atmosphere we expected. The building was fasciniting but the decoration was just tasteless. Wouldn't book again, mainly because we didn't find rooms and furnishing nice enough.
I loved our stay, at this quirky 14th century hotel. Had a room (or rooms, as there was a separate living area, with sofa, chair, coffee table and desk/table) on the first floor, which overlooked the street and bars and shops opposite. Yes, some of the furniture is old and worn, but it lends to the charm of the place. The bed linen and towels were spotlessly clean and we received a warm welcome from the young girl on the desk when we arrived. There was a mini bar in the room, with beers, soft drinks and a long alcoholic grapefruit drink - but I did miss a kettle to make a cup of tea or coffee, that would have been a nice addition. Breakfast was plentiful, if the same each day (we were there for 3 nights) but we were happy with it, and it filled us up for the morning's explorations of this delightful city. Pleased to see a hairdryer in the bathroom, as I'd forgotten to pack mine. Also pleased to see free internet access - public pc in the reception free of charge, and wi fi in all areas. I would certainly stay here again, really loved the charm of the place.
Visited for 1 night. Room was big, but very cold and not cozy. Furniture was placed like this, that there was hard to walk in to the room(couch and armchair blocking the way) . Curtains were dirty, spider webs falling from the cealing, tv was very old and with very bad quiality/picture, bathroom was very small, receptionist didnt speak estonian (we were locals) and lighting was poor. From the good side: location, wifi, big room (bedroom and living room separately).
Staid here overnight with three children in August 2017. The receptionist did not concider worthwile greeting the visitors to begin with, and when inquired about the availability of aircondiotioning, at the temperature of +°27, the answer was that there is airconditioning in the family rooms. Well, the truth was quite not what we expected for a hotel room of 150€/night. No, there was no airconditioning, actually, there was absolutely no ventilation non what so ever, apart from the first floor room's windows (washed last time around the year 2000, apparently), which gave to the fairly busy and noisy streeet, and to an eye-level restaurant terrace 10 meters away. The chairs and couch were torn and broken, the couch opened to an "bed" was so bad, that it would not go even for a lousy joke. If one moved while on this "bed", the rest of the room woke up because of the noice the thing made. Water was dripping from the cealing, the same where there were spider webs on. Hence the smell of mold was evident. There was, honestly, centimeters thick layer of dust under the main bed. Did not dare to look under the sheets, but other rewiews tell the tale. The handle of the door of the room fell off while closing the door, and even as mentioned to the receptionist about it, nothing was done about it, at least not during our stay. None of the drawers had any handles, all were ripped away. The breakfast was worst ever, concentrate juice, weak coffee, one type of ham for either of the two types of bread, cheese ran out halfway through the breakfast etc. This is a genuine example of how to cheat visitors by an faulty image of services and quality. The hotel was booked in a bit of a haste, and it was a lesson learned to read the reviews before booking. This time the result was a total disappointment and 150€ for something hardly worth 30€. The only postive thing was the location, which is pretty much the trap of this place.
Only 112 steps to our room that was described by reception as one of their best. Thank you then for that allocation. Four nights and no change of bed linen. Floor cleaning in the bathroom must be optional. Pillows for the bed score record for thinness. Breakfast is uninspiring and crowded space. Difficult to face for four days. Staff must be trained to avoid any social interaction or even eye contact. The hotel is very well situated on the positive side.
I visit here 2 weeks ago and the reception was not taking notes on any of my complains. But when i complimented the breakfast they were happy and wanted the all staff to hear.... The hotel is a dangerous harazard for fires you will be trapped and no emergency exits.. Our bathroom floow was broken and all water could get in to the intiriour . I dont even want to complain more about the hotel than this... Shamefull
Room clean and spacious, nice bathroom.Mini bar in room though no tea and coffee making facilities. Bed very comfy good nights sleep the first two nights, third night teenagers on a school trip in the room nextdoor very badly behaved(no they were not English)banging and crashing and shouting no one seemed to be supervising them. Breakfast ok .
This has some real old town charm - it's a real warren of a building down a sidestreet just five minutes from the main square. There's no lift and a lot of steps if you have a lot of luggage. The room was large, airy, plenty of storage space, good WiFi and a huge bathroom. Fridge/minibar. Loads of TV channels. Breakfast was OK, but nothing special. Value was excellent for central Tallinn and the location great for the rail station and ferry port. Gladly stay there again.
Quaint quirky hotel in the heart of the old town just minutes away from bars & restaurants. My original room was on the seventh floor but after asking politely I was able to change that to a lower floor on the following day. The main hotel has five large rooms for families. The other rooms are in a separate building behind the hotel. This is accessed by descending a spiral staircase then walking through the restaurant then along a dark covered passage with random steps before finally reaching the stairwell. All this carrying your suitcases! This hotel is only suitable for younger able bodied people. The breakfast room is small so you may have to queue at busy times. The usual 'continental' food although no toaster! There is a toilet whose door opens directly into the breakfast room which would not be permitted under the UK building regulations. There is no sign of a rear fire exit so it would be difficult to escape in the event of a emergency. The only way out is back the way you came and up the spiral staircase to reception. A clean and tidy hotel in a perfect spot but must be considered as a 'budget' choice. Helpful staff who will print out your boarding pass for the return flight. There is a restaurant but we did not try it out as we wanted to explore the town. The rooms are very quiet (the walls are three foot thick) but you may hear the staff chatting whilst having a cigarette in the courtyard.
