We did not start off well at the St Petersbourg Hotel. Reception staff were very welcoming and allowed us access to our room before the appointed check in time. As soon as we opened the door to room 107 which is on the ground floor right next to the guest toilets we noticed a very unpleasant smell, we immediately asked if we could change room and were told there were none available in the same category. We were told the room would be serviced again and would be smelling much better by the time we returned. After many hours we returned and if anything the room smelt even worse. The receptionist assured us they had tried flushing all the plumbing through in the bathroom and thought the situation had been resolved. I asked to speak to a Duty Manager as felt this was totally unacceptable. Eventually after sitting in the room for a while we were offered a room on the floor above which we were informed was a suite and therefore an upgrade. I could see little or no difference in the room amenities apart from being a corner room which gave us more windows. However, we were very happy to be out of room 107 so took the room immediately. We found the rooms very hot and could not operate the AC without reception overriding the controls downstairs. Even with the AC on and room thermostat down to 16c we still found it too warm. Asked for lighter bedding next day which was duly supplied, still too hot so we opened the windows again which was very noisy from the street below. All in all despite the comfortable beds we did not sleep very well for our 4 night stay. Breakfast was quite chaotic, each morning we were asked as soon as we sat down if we wanted anything cooked. Which usually arrived after a long wait or not at all. When we asked one day where the cooked items were we were told we had missed the deadline for ordering, clearly the order had been forgotten. Some days there were no plates so they had to be sent for from the kitchen. On the last day the toaster mysteriously disappeared. When I asked for it the staff seemed genuinely put out so it had to be found, then the extension lead had to be found. By the time this all arrived I had lost the desire for the toast. Despite all of this I still liked the hotel, in particular the position right in the heart of the Old Town with many excellent restaurants close by. Only downside of the location was the noise, the hotel must be aware of this shortcoming as they provide earplugs in the bathroom. My preference I chose not to use them as don't like to block out any senses in a strange environment. (comes from a bad experience when someone broke into my hotel room in another country)
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ambiance of the hotel was great, a combination of classic and edgy modern style. Soundproofing wasn't very good, and there was noise from both the hallway and street.
Great service. Been many Hotels in Tallinn, but this was best experience.Good location and many great restaurants nearby. Liked a lot this kind of small boutique hotels. Breakfast was ok. Highly recomment also as family stay
We stayed at this hotel 5 years ago and this year we decided to do the same. We have not regretted, and now not only me and my wife, but our children also love this hotel. The hotel has become even more beautiful, more convenient, with a wonderful restaurant and a unique location
We had stayed at this lovely hotel before. Last time everything was perfect. Now the room was hot and we had to wait a quarter to get coffee for breakfast. The location is amazing and we like the interior of the rooms. The service was friendly but somehow a bit slow and exaggerated.
This hotel should be 5 star hotel but there is a huge gap between this and a real 5 star hotel. Lack of management skills and training are the obvious reasons that the stay was not comfortable. Also the room was not comfortable. Warm water would be nice while showering etc...
The hotel is in perfect location, the room (we had gotten an upgrade) was spotless and beautiful. The only challenge was that it was on the ground level, and close to the kitchen, so the smell would get into the bathroom. Other than that, the room was a delight, the reception team was super polite and very helpful with tips. Breakfast was very good too, but coffee was a little cold even though it was freshly made for us every time. Seriously, not a big issue and it was more than compensated by the outstanding reception team. Would highly recommend, and would stay again there in a heartbeat!
service and location are beyond expectation in the heart of the center/// close to everything //we enjoyed the executive treatment as much as the facilities in the room. and we surely will be there again
Everything about our stay was excellent. The staff were very good and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautiful. The location is perfect. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Had a fantastic stay at the St Petersbourg as our base for our Tallinn visit. Perfect base ideally placed. Great welcome and service from start to finish. The staff and amenities cannot be faulted. [Don't miss a trip to the Seaplane Harbour]
