Our stay here was pleasant; the strengths of the hotel is it's location - less than a 5 minute walk to the Freedom Square where many trips depart from/the free walking tour (this was excellent) begins. The hotel was also very reasonably priced (we did book far in advance). It was quite well furnished, and the staff were amenable. The breakfast was a bit limited and low in quality, and as other reviews have mentioned, the lack of air con meant that the room was quite hot and stuffy, even though Tallinn itself wasn't that warm whilst we were visiting.
This hotel is in a great location. Decor is a little dated and the rooms do not have air con, however the staff provided us with a mobile air con unit when we requested one, we slept well and the rooms were clean and that's what counts. I would recommend the hotel as its only 5 mins from the old town, so very easy to walk to local sights, bars and restaurants.
I had a really nice stay here. The hotel is so convenient for the Old Town. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The building oozes character and is very old, especially in the cellar where the restaurant is. I ate in the restaurant every night that it was open and the food was amazing and the portions were enormous.
Hotel based in a very good location, close to all the main attractions. Hotel very clean, room was very quiet at night which was nice, comfy bed. The breakfast selection was a bit on a smaller scale but all good and tasty. Would recommend
Great location across the street from old town, quiet and room comfortable. I gave only 3 stars because I had a very early flight and had to be up at 5:15 am, so asked for a wake up call. I set my own alarms for 5:00 and 5:05 and got up, good thing because the wake up call never came. Otherwise service was fine. Also they required a 3 day cancellation notice, and I ended up in hospital unexpectedly in Parnu the afternoon I was to check in, so with a 4pm cancellation I would have saved $103. Also only stairs up from sidewalk to lobby. Breakfast was ok. Tallinn itself is ok, nothing special: clean, small, moderate service. Did the free walking tour with Helen, which was excellent.
Stayed here for two nights, and the only thing I didn't like was the lack of air conditioning. My room was a little warm, but at least the window opened fully to allow the room to cool down. However facing the roadside, I had to close the window overnight to keep the exterior noise out. My room was clean, comfortable and I slept reasonably well. The onsite Bavarian restaurant was very good too. Good friendly service from all the staff, and a good central location added to the experience. I'd stay here again.
Booked hotel as was told how good variety of breakfasts and nice rooms. The rooms and the building cannot be faulted and in the room they even explain the history surrounding the hotel name. But breakfast was a disaster and only 1 person had something to eat in our group and only on 1 day - the food was limited, once gone it was gone and when you ask the staff if they had any more looked at you as they did not understand you. The croissants were small in size as well and items like scrambled egg was placed next to the runny porridge that looked more like pigs food. Also had problem with our safe, that we were told on a Monday would be fixed as had no batteries and it was still not done when checking out on Friday. Staff told about all but had little interest. All other times staff at reception were friendly. Bottle water in room for sell at 2 euros 60 but can get in sub way kiosk for 110 - 180 euros.depending on brand you want.
Hotel is well located, just outside the old town border. Around 5-10 minutes walk to Old Town Centre. The room was also ok, big enough. Breakfast was average. We chose this hotel because of location, price and free parking and made the reservation in June. Unfortunately they had changed the policy early June and parking was not free anymore - but we didn't have that information. I wonder why they couldn't give the parking free, because it is just some money and in my opinion we were not guilty. We arrived a bit tired and hungry but because of the "parking case" we decided to have a dinner some other place.
Back again, same nice rooms, good service and helpfull staff. breakfast wide, but now coffee machine changed ! the old one was better and offered a selection of coffees, now only standard filter coffee available. Restaurant Kelder Bayer very convinient and good food and also nice selections of beers. Tidy rooms without ac but ok. free parking a clear positive thing.location very good. so, it was nice to be back in StBarbara :-)
Can't find anything that would make me rate less than excellent. The staff there were very friendly and helpfull, Rooms were very clean and spacious, Safe gated parking right under the hotel, Location is right across the street from the old town, good high-speed wifi internet in my room. it's not a modern style hotel if that is what you are looking for but definitely an excellent hotel with its own stye. During my stay, everything was just perfect.
