Lagle, Deniss & other staff made us feel especially welcome at Cru. Lagle rushed to get our rooms ready, explained the sites in the Old Town and added her perspective on the Estonian culture. Deniss (I may be misspelling his name) was kind enough to spend a bunch of time with us at dinner even though it was busy, to discuss the Russian and Estonian culture and give us his perspective on the country. He was very sweet! I will miss their hospitality! The hotel is a 15th century gem in the heart of Old Town with a delicious breakfast (best smoked herring with lemon that I have ever had as well as champagne), a welcome drink of champagne at dinner, and an ancient style of concrete and furniture decor that makes one feel as if he/she has been transported to another time and land. Additionally, there are only 15 rooms which makes you feel extra special.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room had a lot of character and felt very comfortable. The restaurant has some of the best food we found along our trip. Hands down: the brown bread was the best we found anywhere. The crunchy exterior protected nuts and dried fruit distributed throughout the bread that tasted somewhere between sourdough and pumpernickel; fantastic. If the bread was that amazing, just imagine how great the rest of the food was! Location of the hotel is conveniently located near the Raekoja Plats and greatly positioned for exploring the entire old city area. Overall, a fantastic hotel and restaurant that I wouldn't think twice about returning to if I were in the city again.
Charming small hotel in 15th century merchant's home. Splendid staff. Excellent restaurant. Good location in old town. Lively neighborhood. Street activity well past midnight, but very agreeable. If noise bothers you, get an interior room. We thought the singing and dancing on the street was great fun.
One of the best hotel experiences! Staff extra nice and helpful and all hotel facilities are more than you need to feel relaxed after a long day of walking in Old town. Mattress is made for a perfect night sleep, heated bathroom floor for a chilly morning and authentic interior that takes you back to the 13th century. Best value for money!
This small hotel offers a hideaway in a perfect spot in the "Old Town". The restaurant distinguish itself from the touristic places you'll find closer to the main square with it's prize winning chef and cuisine menu for the same amount. Furthermore, the breakfast offers sparkling wine and coffee of your choice. What a nice place to spend a long weekend! The hotel don't have a lobby area and this is the only drawback and is reflected in my rating.
We had the most amazing time at the Cru Hotel. The room was cozy and a huge plus was the big bath tub in the room. The hotel breakfast was by far the best we've ever had. And the restaurant was amazing too, had a beautiful 3-course-dinner there. If you decide to eat there (which you should😉), you must try the goose portion. Next time in Tallinn we'll definitely stay here again :)
Really beautiful and nice hotel. We had room from the street side, but noise wasn't too bad for us. And, if you want hotel from the main street you have to understand there will be noise. Dinner package was excellent. Building is old, so you cant get all modern things like elevator and power outles next to the bed, but what's important, nice (and romatic) clean hotel with helpful staff. Special thanks for the lady in reception, she really faced every customer as an individual person.
We love this small hotel and stayed there for the 5th. time. Everything is fantastic and romatic about this hotel. All the rooms are different . Our room was big with a very confortable bed and old furniture. Breakfast was very good with cold and warn dishes and also with sparkling wine. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. Everything was perfect (as always).
I would give the hotel 3,5 stars. It's not completely average but it could be better with some small details. Just like everyone else has said it's all about the LOCATION. Perfect in every way other than the sleep aspect. We had a suite which was on the prom's side - you can forget sleeping deeply as there is for example a karaoke bar near the hotel. We could easily hear the karaoke host's speeches and all the singers like we would have been inside the bar. It was a Friday-Saturday night and all but still. That's really why they lose one complete star. The half comes from the follwing things: 1. When we arrived at the hotel and buzzed the summer, got no answer in fairly long time. We were lucky that other guests came and knew that you could get in from restaurant's side. So, that's a tip for all of you too! If no one answers the door, there's a gateway on the left. Go in and find a door on the right side. 2. The breakfast was good, yet it took a long time to get things refilled. There weren't many guests but everyone was waiting on the same foods making them end almost immediately. 3. There are no night lamps next to the bed, so you need to shut the ceiling lamp near the door. 4. There are no plugs next to the bed either. All in all, pretty good and you will get champagne at breakfast but on next visit I'll try another hotel.
CRU hotel is quite a unique place. Its located in the centre of Old Town in Tallinn. Hotel is not very big, giving the staff enough time to make every visitor feel special(believe me, they do make you feel special) It has an amazing restaurant downstairs, with one of the best chefs in Estonia running the show. So if you are looking for good night sleep, brilliant food experience, nice wine selection and why not even make some new friends, that are worth keeping, CRU is the place to stay. Thank you Anneli and all the Cru personnel, you truly made our stay memorable! Well done!
