I took a cheeky night break away from Helsinki while there for a week on business. I zipped over on the ferry and got to experience some traditional Estonian hospitality. This building is amazing. It does an excellent job of marrying the medieval with the new. The shower was honestly the best I have had in Europe, ever, great water pressure and nice and warm. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the Wifi was quick which helped for a late night conference call. I added on the breakfast and so glad I did. There’s a convenience store just metres away but I had a much better breakfast at the hotel. It was a buffet so I could pick and choose what I wanted, and what I wanted was that amazing rye bread and fresh Estonian butter. If you want history, service, amenities, delicious food, and a very affordable price, Hotell CRU is your place.

This boutique hotel is centrally located in the Old Town of Tallinn, walking distance to all of the main sights as well as public transport connections. The single room was small but very good value and had everything needed for a short stay - the included buffet breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice available. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Tallinn.

This is written from a UK perspective We visited this hotel for my wife’s 50th birthday as she wanted to visit Tallinn old town - this hotel is perfectly positioned for that it is in a pedestrian area (taxis can only get within 150m) and great to visit and walk round the old town - it is also 5 mins walk from the sightseeing buses well worth it to get round the entire city !! The hotel is an old building - it was hot when we stayed and no air con we had one of the two suites there (rm 16) it was excellent spacious clean and v comfy beds - the hotel has excellent WiFi too - the food in. The hotel is traditional Estonian and is competitive with the plethora of competition in the old town the staff are excellent and helpful - we would definitely use again and are looking to come back for the Xmas markets and use the hotel again definitely recommended

Quirky old hotel in the Old Town. The location is excellent for wandering the narrow cobbled streets; it is a short walk to the taxi rank as well as the very beautiful flower market. I had a small room which was adequately furnished and over the alley where the restaurant has outdoor tables and chairs. In typical European fashion, this is open until late but never did I find the noise overwhelming. On the contrary, it was really just a pleasant hum in the background, nobody was shouting or drunk. The breakfast is superb – I highly recommend the homemade black bread with large helpings of butter ! Not only was there a Continental selection of cold meats, fish and cheeses, but also a hot table with eggs and sausages. Another table was groaning with muffins and fresh fruit and even a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket alongside. I found the staff extremely helpful and friendly and I cannot thank them enough for the help they gave finding me a doctor when I was ill as well as delivering trays of hot tea and biscuits to my room at no charge.

Booked a suite for a weekend with my girlfriend. It wasn't expensive but not cheap either. The hotel building is lovely and rooms are unique and personal. Suite was nice as well. I've booked two nights. In the first evening however the problems started. The hotel is located right in the heart of old town and on the mainstreet. I wasn't worried about the location because on the hotel's website it says "there are no noisy bars or taverns in the near vicinity of the hotel that could bother our visitors." Well that wasn't true. There was loud bass and yelling coming from the street all night. I called the reception in the first evening but they said there's nothing they can do (it was past 23). Next morning I asked if I could check out one night early and get the money back for second night because it was impossible to sleep. The hotel staff was really unhelpful, didn't offer any refund and never even apologized! I could understand little noise, because it summer, but at the same time suites are supposed to be the best rooms in any hotel. In the end we ended up checking out one night early, because we were on holiday and there's no point in hotel you cannot sleep in. Hotel staff never said they're sorry, but in the end everything went well and we ended up getting a really nice room at Swissotel which cost less than the original room at Cru Hotel. Overall Cru Hotel left a really bad taste in my mouth, worst hotel expience in Tallinn (or wherever I have ever stayed).

Location is in the centre. The hotel is in the mediaval building and then was refurbished. So the space is of the epoque, low ceiling, narrow corrifors, the entrance has rather steep stairs. Our room was ok for a short stay though I would recommend to the owner to fix the Internet connection. I can put up with the TV not working with broken rubbish bin with very shabby pillows but the Poor Internet connection in the room was really disapponting. In the room there was rather big WC but no place to put the toiletries, no glasses for toothbrush, no footpad for the shower, it is slipperly when wather splashes. And there were no any sockets to charge the mobiles or other gadgets. The breakfast is very good. The recieption staff was very friendly and caring, e.g, we came by car and where late, the reception usually works till 00:30, anyway they waited for us till 1:30. The real gem of this hotel is their restaurant. It has the exquisite cuisine, the chefs are great!

When I think of my stay at Cru Hotel the first thing I remember is the breakfast. They bake their own Estonian bread that I loved. There is a lot of variety of baked goods, bread, cheese and cereal etc. The coffee is tasty too. It is located in old town, very central so the building is an old one and I believe they united/combined two or more buildings. There is lots of different levels throughout the hotel, steps etc. They covered some parts of the stone walls with concrete or (something similar). There is only one disadvantage of this place and it is that they do not have elevator. However I would stay here again and reccommend it.

This is a small boutique style hotel that on balance was very good. The room was very good as was the bathroom, huge in fact. Breakfast at first sight didn't look like there was much choice, but that was deceptive since there was everything one could want. The breakfast room was in the restaurant area and was very nice. The hotel's location is where the hotel really scores being literally minutes from the main town square and with shops in the immediate vicinity.

We always choose small quirky hotels in good location as opposed to clinical chain hotels. The location was excellent. First impressions were good, however this one sadly didn’t live up to our expectations. Our room was tiny which in itself we wouldn’t have minded but it had no character and the furnishings were very basic and bland, thin not well hung curtains, one unappealing picture on the wall and basic furniture - so much more could be done to make it appealing so that customers wouldn’t mind the size! There was a smell of drains in corridor most days but reckon that’s just part of being an old building. One day our room wasn’t made up and the lady arrived about 4.30 when we had come back to rest before evening. The breakfast was good, particularly enjoyed the bread and it was only place on our trip that had decaf coffee. Most of the staff were very friendly, particularly those who did our check in and check out.

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Nice suite with lots of charm. If you´re tired of soulless hotels, then this Is the place to stay in Tallinn. We where greeted at the front door by the manager made us feel truly welcome, and for the duration of our stay the staff could not have been more helpful. The hotel also has a really nice restaurant with a great breakfast. Perfect location for a stay in the old town.
