I had a wonderful stay at this lovely and charming Ryokan. They had very nice artwork and decor throughout the Ryokan, everything was very clean and it's in a great location, walkable to all the sites and the train station. The staff was so kind and helpful! I loved this Ryokan and Takayama so much that I give it my highest recommendation to anyone visiting Takayama. Thank you for an amazing stay! I hope to be able to return one day soon!

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They were happy to make restaurant reservations for you. He traditional Japanese meal was very nice and they catered for my dislike of pork and beef. The onsen was lovely and the room was beautiful. If I was returning to Takayama, I would stay again without hesitation.

What an amazing place this is!! Everyone was telling me that I needed to stay in a Ryokan while I was in Japan and the Asunaro was the PERFECT place to experience a traditional Japanese inn. Right from when we arrived at the hotel, the staff were welcoming and could not do enough to make our stay fabulous. The room itself was spacious and immaculately clean and it had every amenity you needed. The breakfast experience was above and beyond with incredible food choices and service. The entire experience at this inn felt authentic and amazing and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

The Ryokan was only short walk fron train and bus station and also walked to all attractions. The breakfast were excellent. Their kimonos were so comfortable. We loved the authentic Japanese dinner, which was the highlight of our Takayama trip. The room was so spacious and clean. We also liked the onsen.
