The Royal Hotel on Huaning St. (華寧街）is located close to many transport options, chief among these being Taibei Main Train Station (regular & bullet train), Taibei MRT Station, Taoyuan MRT Station, and Taibei Bus Station. The building is well-kept, although it is showing some age. Nevertheless, the management keeps it neat and clean, and the knick-knacks in the lobby are charming and quaint, somewhat similar to one's memories of a favorite maiden aunt. The facilities are sufficient for travelers who need a hotel for one, two, or more nights. It is near the numerous underground "malls" that surround the stations on all sides, and that extend out-of-sight up and down major roads. The clerks in the mall stores are unfailingly polite, and ever so eager to relieve the customer of any extra cash yearning to be free. Dining options range from really good Taiwan street food to noodle/dumpling fast food storefronts to sit down restaurants and, not far away, more expensive joints that take themselves quite seriously, but do provide good food. The hotel attracts a range of guests; a large proportion are middle-aged women traveling with friends or daughters, or so it seemed. This is a good sign, because it is an index of perceived safety and comfort. It's a good lodging for the area and the price. Certainly the least appealing aspect is that interior rooms are windowless, which imposes a certain kind of unease for a guest not accustomed to this. However, anyone who knows hotels in Taipei knows that this is no uncommon "feature", and that it is a direct imposition of construction practices, not of preference.
City Inn 1 is always my no. 1 choice in all my past years stay in Taipei! Not able to get a room, decided to try out Royal Hotel which is next to City Inn 1. Room size is manageable and equipped with safe deposit room, small wardrobe, bar fridge.Free laundry service with no detergent provided and there is free water cooler/coffee machine located on the 2nd floor. From the Taipei Main station and if you have heavy luggage, suggest you should take exit M5 with escalator and at traffic junction across the ShinKo shopping mall. Turn around towards Huaining Street.
Royal hotel is located opposite the bus station. We got the family room which was good for 4 people. There was kettle insude which was nice if you want to make cofee. Nice think about the hotel was that there is a cofee machine at the lobby where one can drink for free. The breakfast was simple but i guess that is how the taiwanese usually have their breakfast. I suggest you to have breakfast around 7 am as there is not enough seats. The staff can speak a bit of English. Good thing that Meindy or Mindy one of the partners was extra nice , she spoke English very well, she walked us to the places near our hotel where we should eat, things we should try near the area like the delicious beef noodle soup in the alley. She also helped us to buy medicines for my mom.. i suggest everybody to try the hot and creamy Japanese cake which was sold in the street near the pharmacy for only 13 NTD, it tastes exactly like the ones sold in Japan.
Rooms and clean but could be improved further. I stayed 3 nights in 3 different rooms. 1st night is room for 3 in Rm302. Nice and clean. 2nd nite move to room for 2 as my son went back to his appt. Stay in rm 610 and was shock to see its run down, towels were not so clean. Rooms was not properly clean. We complain to front desk the next morning and was put in rm602 and was relieve its better Breakfast area is small, food is limited but good enough for me as long as there is bread and coffee
Comparing what you pay to what you get , It is the best place ever . Even I stay without window room , no problem , clean hotel , good size room , coffee machine and water , washer and dryer each floor . Reasonable breakfast , location is very good , next to Taipei main station , and main airport bus station . Above all this , very nice staff , all of them are very friendly and helpful.
The best point about this hotel was the location. It took just 3-5mins away from one of the exit of access way reach the Taipei station. And even when it was rainy, there were the arcade with the building around. We didn't have to worry about to get wet. Taipei was extremely hot outside and my 65yo father got dizzy from this boiling heated temperature. But hotel's location made our stay better since he didn't have any energy to walk around. This hotel was not really big and luxury But more casual and friendly. They were enough clean and I don't complain for anything. A girl at the counter helped us to make restaurant reservation with Chinese language was very nice. Morning buffet was Chinese style buffet. We are from Japan and we are familiar to rice culture so we have nothing problem. But if you prefer continental meal like toasts, cereal and waffles, they don't have those. One thing I cared about was that the bathroom was so close to one of the beds and the door of the bathroom was lucent. No one want to pee or pxx while someone is sitting against you outside that door... Literally, I recommend this hotel to people want to stay cheaper and convenient.
After a bad experience at another hotel nearby, we made sure to request to view the room before checking in, which the staff gladly allowed us. We stayed in room 208 for 8 nights. There was a laundry room with one top load washing machine and a dryer beside our room. The hotel restricted the use of the laundry room from10am till 9pm which only guests staying in the rooms next to it would appreciate. The soap powder came in small ziplock bags which could be requested from the counter staff. At level 2, there was a computer, drinking water machine and a coffee making machine. The hotel issued breakfast vouchers every morning for dinning at their small restaurant with quite few seats. The food variety was limited and was the same throughout our stay. Besides, the food ran out before breakfast time was over on most mornings. Royal hotel is well located very near exit Z6 of taipei underground mall, railway station and bus station. Extremely convenient for those taking bus to or from taoyuan airport.
Pros: 1. The hotel was conveniently located at Z6 of the underground metro mall. It was directly opposite the bus station for taking a bus to Taoyuan Airport. There was also a FamilyMart convenience store less than a minute's walk away. 2. Our room 208 (1 queen-size bed) was clean and well-maintained. 3. Other facilities next to our room on level 2 included a coffee making machine, computer, washing machine and dryer. 4. The staff we met were friendly and helpful. Cons: 1. There were few power outlets for charging devices in our room. 2. Breakfast variety was slightly limited and ran out early. Tips: 1. Go for breakfast before 9am to avoid having little food and drinks left. 2. Some reviewers have complained about a beeping sound occurring for about half a minute when closing the room door. However, all you have to do is give an extra push or pull to close the door more tightly, and the beeping will not occur. 3. There is a card which you can leave on your bed if you do not require the linen to be changed during room service, because the hotel advocates environmental protection by reducing the number of washes. Take note that if you leave the card on the bed, the staff will not touch your bed altogether, i.e. not make your bed as well. Other aspects of room service like emptying the dustbins and replacing used towels will still be done.
Stayed for two nights, room was clean, bed comfortable, bathroom also nice, and staff were nice. Location is great; close to taipei main MRT station and walkable distance to Ximending. Breakfast could be improved but overall not complaining about my stay.
This hotel is located near Taipei Main Station and bus station and MRT. You can take the bus from Tao Yaun airport directly to Taipei Main Station and walk for 10 minutes. It easy to go anywhere in Taipei. The room is very clean but it small. The staffs are friendly, nice welcoming. I ate breakfast at hotel; toast and jam, porridge, sandwiches, chinese style boiled rice, cereal and milk, orange juice, but you must eat in a small room, just a few tables.
