My husband and I spent a lovely weekend in Manly at The Sebel. Why would you travel to the Gold Coast for the weekend from Newcastle when such a great spot is on your doorstep. The Sebel is very well appointed and the staff are very nice and welcoming. There is the Manly Wine Bar underneath the hotel which has a great buzzing atmosphere and serves great food and drinks Take a walk around the headland to Fairy Bower and enjoy coffee or food at the Boathouse. Swim in the surf, the Fairy Bower pool or the little cove near the Boathouse restaurant. The walk is easy and pretty flat. Good for those of us that don't exercise a lot. You could even use it if you were in a wheelchair. The Manly Ferry gives you the best harbour cruise you could ask for. There are many very good restaurants along the esplanade. Overall I would rate Manly and The Sebel as a 10/10. I just love it!!! This is a place I would return to at the drop of a hat. 😃😃😃
Stayed a week in the best location in Manly. Balcony overlooking the beach, Fabulous. The staff we absolutely the best. From the first day being helped by Madeline started our trip of so well. Every morning Madeline would greet you with a smile and a good morning. Always helpful and so polite. In fact every member of staff made us feel so welcome. We had the best week and look forward to returning. The walks around the restaurants and cafes were great. The staff at Sebel gave great advice on where to dine. Thank you all for a memorable week, highly recommended. Be back soon.
We booked two rooms for our family of 8, upon arrival we were shunted out to the south tower via a driveway and abandoned lot to the “cheap” rooms which have no beach views from level 2 and are not on South Steyne. At $800 for the two rooms for one night needless to say I was quietly seething inside. The rooms are adequate although I thought it bizarre the bathroom door has no lock so we had to improvise and use the privacy please sign on that door. Bed was comfortable but as we were on the 2nd floor the room was noisy as we were on the street. There was no sign saying the two small bottles of water were complimentary either. Pool in south tower was freezing as it’s not heated. Our refrigerator was also unplugged so we had to go to coles and buy ice for which there were no ice buckets. I saw a few families go into the pool area and then return to their rooms as they couldn’t be bothered going to the heated pool in the main tower.
Fabulous Hotel looking over Manly beach, we were given a front balcony room upgrade on the second floor with separate lounge and kitchen area, all very well equipped and well decorated, reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great location with shops, restaurants and transport close at hand. Our room in the South Tower had a partial sea view and had recently undergone a soft refurbishment. It looked fresh and clean. Bedding was extra comfy and the amenities were luxurious. I seriously would have liked to have taken the shower home and it was fabulous!!! Would recommend this as a great getaway that offers as little or as much as you'd like to do. After a very busy day we decided to order room service. With the Sebel not having their own restaurant, it meant our room service was from a nearby restaurant. Sadly it let us down for value and quality. We received a plate full of fries and two small oily pieces of fish. :( Left most of it uneaten.
The hotel is a short walk from Manly Wharf and right next to Manly beach. I stayed at a family room on the 4th floor of the South Tower. There was a king bed and a separate room with two single beds. The room was clean and good size for young family. Extremely convenient to go to the beach and enjoy a quick swim anytime. The staff were nice and helpful. The restaurant was very busy in the morning with many patrons for breakfast and coffee during my stay. I had to wait a bit to be served. There was no table number and the waitresses seemed to have difficulties to serve orders to the right tables.
Ocean front rooms are lovely. They have a balcony for fresh air and to see what is happening on the Corso. Rooms are tired and need an upgrade, however they were big and comfortable for our 4 night stay. Reception staff pleasant and helpful (not that we asked for much help). The nightclub is loud, so ask for rooms away from that end of the hotel. Loads of restaurant and cafe options, or just sit on the Corso with an ice cream and watch the world go by. No wonder tourists and locals love it.
Seemingly ideally located on Manly Beach, the Sebel is housed in an old very tired building. Having said that the interior of the hotel is well maintained and the rooms were well appointed and comfortable and the staff were very good. There are no facilities, no lounge room or bar and no restaurant. The car park is a nightmare to enter and exit and the hotel overcrowded. the limited space by allowing double parking, so there is no surety that you will be able to leave at a time of your choosing. The Wi Fi is free but I was unable to connect at any time during my stay despite being on the second floor. The location does not make up for the lack of facilities and as such it represents really poor value for money, it is the worst of the Accor Group that I have ever stayed in and will not return.
Room was compact for three (two adults, one child) but for two would have been very good. Four people (fully utilizing the couch as a double) would have been a big stretch - wouldn't recommend it unless you were very familiar with your cohabitants! There weren't the extra towels or pillows for the thrid person when we checked in, but when we prompted, not only were they rushed up in our absence but they were the most exotic folding I've seen - the towel and face flannel made an elephant! Our boy was rapt! A very nice touch. It's only a moments walk to the beach and restaurants. Parking is tight so the extra charge for in-building parking is worth it, and still cheap by capital city standards, let alone Sydney. Would stay again; good value and great location in a hotel which was clearly being renovated so will only get better.
Really enjoyed our two day stay. Great upgrade to an apartment with huge balconies with lovely beach views. First class service. Lovely location and our rooms was an Accor Vacation Club room so probably better than average. Only downside was no bath, very patchy wifi and no restaurant or bar owner by Hotel nor affiliated with Accor, so no welcome drinks or discounted meals. Otherwise would be a strong 5star.
