The Sebel Sydney Manly Beach4.5 out of 5.0

I visited the Sebel from Singapore in March to attend a friends wedding and found the property to be distinctly average. The location is without doubt impressive - right on the beach with beautiful views of the Ocean, but the quality of the accommodation was disappointing considering the high nightly room rate. I felt like we paid a 4-5 star price and got 3 star accommodation. The room looked tired, a little shabby and when I called reception for help to steam a dress for the wedding no one was able to help or even locate a steamer. I guess the biggest annoyance here was that no one seemed interested in helping me find a solution. In the interest of providing a balanced review, the staff in the restaurant were all lovely and the breakfasts were excellent quality ( would recommend the poached eggs and avocado which I believe is pretty 'staple' Australian breakfast fare ) In a nutshell, if you're ok paying a top rate and want a great location this hotel would be a good fit.
Stayed for 2 nights with family in the south tower. Very nice stay. Nice view of the ocean from the veranda though it is not facing the ocean completely. The sound of the wave is really refreshing. Kids enjoyed the walk up to the Shelly beach. The best of the hotel it's just that the beach.
The Sebel Manly Beach is located directly across the street form the beach. Also very convenient to the town which is 2 blocks away. I had a room with a balcony overlooking the beach. It was very relaxing to sit on the balcony and enjoy the scenery. The Sebel has 2 buildings. Each has a swimming pool. It is very difficult to find your way between the buildings as you have to go through the restaurant and down the driveway. Both pools are small but nice.
We stayed at the Sebel Manly Beach for two nights in an ocean view deluxe suite on the 6th floor. Our suite consisted of a separate lounge, bedroom, kitchenette, balcony and bathroom. The view was great, the room was spacious and very quiet. The bed was comfortable resulting in a good nights sleep. The kitchenette had a microwave oven and a small fridge. The modern bathroom had a large shower but no bath. The bathroom also held a washing machine and dryer. There were good quality and a good supply of bathroom products. The towels were clean and soft which I always consider a plus. Wi fi is available free to Accor members. Check in and check out was friendly and efficient. Onsite parking is available at a reasonable charge, street meter parking is available but can be quite expensive. The hotel does not have an onsite restaurant for breakfast or dinner but there are a number of nearby quality cafes and restaurants. The only downside to our stay was a maintenance issue resulting in wet carpet nearby the bedroom balcony door leaving the room with a strong musty odour. The hotel attended to the problem and resolved the issue to our satisfaction.
Stayed for only one night and wish it was more, perfect location right on the beach. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Apartment was clean, tidy perfect for what we needed!! Would definitely book this hotel again!!
I gave this score as we found this stay not a particularly pleasant experience. My sister booked for her and myself and when we arrived she was on one floor and we were on another . We are both Accor members supposed to give us all these benefits well my sister did well lovely room superior than mine but we were paying the same price I was given ten percent discount after complaining. Our room was cleaned the next day when we arrived home that night rubbish was sitting on bench coffee not replaced and some toiletries not replenished. The rooms are very tired in need of refurbish. Excellent location close to restaurants and attractions.
Great views, stayed in 2 bed corner apartment in the north tower with views of both beaches and along shore front. Staff friendly and very helpful. Apartment excellent has everything you need to self catering but also you have the availability of restaurant connected to the hotel. Clean and tidy.
Stayed one night in the south tower. Room was large, bed was amazingly comfortable and enjoyed sitting on the verandah listening to the beach. No view from the south tower lower levels, but we could hear the beach so clearly. If you need to leave early they double park cars in the parking lot, so be mindful. The parking lot is quite small.
Good size room and well equipped but confusing information in the room which indicated that no housekeeping unless you stay for 8 days and a cost for wifi! So we bought provisions only to find that housekeeping did come in every day and replaced coffee and milk etc and made beds and changed towels!! Very confusing. We had a large room but the view from the balcony was a building site an smelt of cooking due to the extractor chimneys
We only stayed here 2 nights but couldn't have asked for more. They were running a little behind at check in time and didn't have our room ready so upgraded us from the south tower with a city view to a studio room with an ocean view. Keon ( sorry if the spelling is incorrect ) gave us this upgrade and we couldn't have thanked him enough. Room 202 was exceptional. Wine time/beer o'clock was spent outside on the balcony both evenings in perfect weather watching the world go by at a relaxed pace. Thanks to the Sebel for making our 30th wedding anniversary such a memorable one.
