We live in Sydney wanted to visit Vivid & not have the hassle of travelling home late at night. Received emails from B&B advising all info required including easiest transport to location. The room was clean & exactly as advised. Very impressed with keys & security after hours-could come & go as we pleased. Excellent breakfast. B&B is situated in a fascinating part of the CBD. No noise from outside Will recommend this accommodation to our friends & family
The best thing was the location right in the Rocks. And no, you don't need to climb lots of stairs to get there! There are various ways around the back streets and alleyways without many steps. Our upstairs room was near the shared bathroom, but was very small with 1 chair, no work space and nowhere to hand up a towel. Don't have a big suitcase or mobility problems (no lift). However, staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast quite nice but the tiny breakfast room got very cramped; although there is lots of room in the courtyard, it's no fun in bad, rainy or cold weather. There is no common area where to comfortably sit and read. After 2 nights my husband stayed the rest of our holidays but I booked into the fabulous youth hostel next door (for a fraction of the price and with a rooftop terrace with views to die for).
This Bed & Breakfast in the Rocks was fantastic, I took my Mum out for an early birthday celebration to see Vivid lights. We couldn't fault the experience we had. The historic building was kept in great condition and the Flinders Room did not disappoint, with a lovely little veranda with a partial view of the bridge...very partial. It was perfect for mum and I. Warm and clean the bed was very comfortable. 5 minute walk to the rocks and harbor. We will be staying again.
The Cook room has ensuite and all you need for a comfortable night in this historic part of town. We could see the Opera House from the window. We were not here for the 4-star luxury but rather a convenient and reasonably priced place to stay while we visited Sydney attractions. A very nice cooked or continental breakfast was provided
Not all rooms have amenities. We had ground floor double room with shared bathroom. However had to climb 2 flights to reach them. Anyone with knee problems should book same floor as amenities. Need some hooks in bedroom for holding wet towels. No cups or glasses in our room. A kitchen nearby. You can see the Harbour Bridge Pylon from outfront.
I must say.. I am reluctant to let the cat out of the bag as to how extraordinary this place is as I want to return and don't want to risk it being booked out! This is hands down the best place to stay in Sydney. I could not fault them anywhere. It was clean, comfortable, spacious and the breakfast was delicious. We shall be back!
We enjoyed our stay at bbsh. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom and toilet were clean and handy to the bedroom. The location was ideal for our Vivid visit but also close to all transport and walking distance to everything. The staff were polite and very helpful. A couple of suggestions to enhance what is already good - a tidier, more efficient office area; less over-powering air freshener (esp for those with allergies) and, although the spread at breakfast was comprehensive, the cooked component was "tired" - eggs had gone grey, bacon was tasty but chewy. We would visit again and recommend to others.
Sydney Harbour Bed and Breakfast is really close to Circular Quay, restaurants, bars and most of Sydney's premiere attractions are within walking distance. The building itself is an old gem, you really feel like you are stepping back in time when you get there. We opted for the private bathroom room, which was good, however the hotel felt quiet so even if you opt for the shared bathroom, it'd still be a great experience. The rooms have everything you need, the beds are comfy (my only peeve would be the pillows weren't the most comfortable, but not the end of the world), the building feels solid enough that despite the main road going past it, there is very little noise coming from outside. The included breakfast is good too with eggs, bacon, baked beans, toast, cereals etc. on the menu. Service is great, we met the owner in his office and he gave us all the info we need and check out was as easy as putting our keys in a box after breakfast and hitting the road. Great experience!
This bed and breakfast was old dusty and dirty. A dreary and unwelcoming entrance, staff entry with linen bags at front of the property. On arrival was given the key this was old and dirty key tag with a grey swiper to get in the building after 5, was my first impression. It is like an airbnb with a more expensive price tag. In my room floorboards were old, scuffed and needing to be re-polished. I cannot see that it could be hygienically cleaned with so many unsealed boards. Although room was of a good size, no comforts such as additional blankets, a warm rug or appealing curtains to soften the starkness. There is no communal lounge anywhere in the building. On the morning I ate in there was not enough room in breakfast room for more than 4 groups and it was an atmosphere zone. Maybe some soft music. With regards to the three items of food in the metal containers, bacon burnt, eggs rubbery and baked beans were cold. I arrived after 5 and there was no one to meet me but money taken out of account prior to stay. The bedding was crisp and beds made up daily and although there was a spare pillow in bottom of cupboard there was no cover. One face washer for three day stay. One concern was that there was no way to contact outside of biz hours, but downstairs there was a sign that outside business hours, to use the 000 number to contact. I was lucky I did not lock myself out of my room!! After staying one night I would have loved to have left and gone back to my hotel with 24hr concierge and elevators but once paid no refund on your stay. Really disappointing, and I feel sorry for the owners who are so stretched by being new parents but they cannot use that as an excuse to give as good service as my high rate of the stay should provide. The excuse that this is a good rate for the Rocks/Circular Quay is also incorrect as there are 5star hotels that are cheaper with concierge and elevators. I am so sorry I stayed here.
Lovely room . very comfy bed. Easy to drive to , park the car Then a walk through the historic Dig area right next door and then down to the Rocks . History right at the doorstep. Very quite considering its proximity
