Wow... Honestly wow! Pier one and the staff at pier one, blew us away with their hospitality, attention to detail and care at our wedding in the water room on Saturday the 20th of May. Paul and I knew from the moment we walked into pier one that this is where we wanted to have our wedding. Paul proposed at pier one 11 months ago and the next morning a wedding reception was being set up in the water room and we took a little sneak peek and fell in love with the room and view instantly. That was it. We knew from that moment this was the place we wanted to celebrate the best day of our lives with our family and friends. Nothing was too hard or too much and the pier one staff made us feel so special. Every single staff member that I walked past the next day to pick up a few things from the reception room congratulated us and commented on how beautiful a part of the wedding was. They all clearly care and love what they do and it shows. We had a very beautiful note in our room with a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us from be staff at pier one when we got back to our room after our wedding reception. Such a thoughtful touch. The food was the best I have ever tried at a wedding and we were so excited after our tasting to have the lamb cutlets and aged beef tenderloin again! All our guests commented on how delicious the food was and the table service was 5 star. Everything was fresh and arrived quickly to the tables. Rosie was our wedding coordinator and was incredible. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and how we had imagined. The decor and room service was breath taking. I couldn't help it but squeal in excitement when we walked into our reception room. It was fabulous and looked like a fairytale. She is a very very busy young lady (they have so many functions on every week)but made sure we always felt like or day was the best wedding she would ever be part of. I truly appreciate how much work she put in. Special mention also to kenny, Sophia and Sam for making sure everything was perfect on the night. For brides and grooms thinking about having their wedding here... Do it. You won't regret it and it will be the best decision you ever make. So many receptions have limitations on what you can and can't do but with pier one there aren't many at all! We had a wonderful band perform (Kartik kunasegaran) we had fairy lights setup, a champagne tower, huge round ballon arch, a sparkler send off, doughnut wall and exposed candle sticks and flower arches... You don't realise until it's too late at how many reception venues won't allow you to have such things for this or that reason, but Pier one just want you to have the most fabulous day of your lives. We enjoyed every minute of our special day and I hope you do to and this review helps you :) P.s the only things I wish we did differently is have the blinds down and door to the water room at the canapés shut so that guests wouldn't go into the room until it was time and then have that full wow factor when the doors open. Also if you are having your ceremony in the bridge marquee ask to have the sides open if it's a sunny day as there is a great photo spot for guests with the bridge in the background (so many guests have made it their profile pictures!)
Our first time here for myself, hubby and 10yo daughter and I doubt it will be our last! On entering this fine establishment, it was very busy & we were hoping for an early check in, but we were flooded with staff grabbing our suitcases, offering our daughter chocolate covered strawberries, bottles of water all round, glasses of bubbly and checked in quite quickly with room ready! Welcome to Pier One! Our room was a perfectly set out King Suite Waterview with our sofa bed made up at our daughters bedtime. Bathroom was well set out with beautiful amenities. Clealiness was 110% to this mumma's high standard. Beds, pillow and linen are of an exceptional standard & comfort level. Opening sliding door for the afternoon sunshine & ocean breeze. We enjoyed breakfast with our stay, with anything & everything imaginable available served freshly in Gantry. Eggs made quickly exactly to order. Check out was 5 seconds with Concierge extremely helpful and holding our luggage while we went for a wonder before leaving. Concierges are brilliant with offering bottles of water everytime we walked in or out, also they packed our luggage in our taxi. Truly, the Concierge team and their thoughtfulness and thoroughness absolutely makes the hotel! Definitely staying again and we can't wait!
I spent two nights here in October during my Australia vacation. I arrived early, was able to leave my luggage there, and they had a lovely lobby bathroom where I could freshen up after the long flight. Everyone was super nice and gave me great recommendations. The location is convenient to the Rocks, Harbour Bridge and the Quay (short walk to see sunrise over the Opera House!). Breakfast was hearty and delicious, and worth the money to start the day with energy.
We had two nights in a harbour view room. We were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and our bags taken to our room. The rooms are spacious and decorated with style. It would have been nice to have a window that opened or balcony but unfortunately this is the only disappointment. Everything was great about our stay and the staff are very friendly and accommodating, they all appear to enjoy they jobs. The breakfast was well laid out and there was plenty of choices. The hotel is a nice stroll from Circular Quay, walking under the bridge and past The Rocks. You are offered bottled water as you leave each morning and also when we departed which was a nice touch. Would recommend to others for something a little different
This was our first visit to Sydney and we are in our 60's. Having Platinum status I choose Pier One for its location. I spend on average over 90 nights a year in Marriott Hotels, many being the Main Marriott brands and Autograph collections. I have Diamond status with Hilton so I know good hotel food, service and bedding. The service I received was impeccable. You could tell that everyone was totally genuine with there smile and really wanting to make sure your stay was great. The concierge AK.Sydak was fantastic, truly helpful beyond. He would be an asset for any top notch firm. The Barista - Mario Palufi again fantastic made the best latte my wife and I have ever experienced. Gabreil at the front desk when we arrived treated us like king and queens, taking around the hotel and showing us the many attributes the hotel had to offer. These young men along with many of others including the maids were extremely helpful. The food selection at breakfast and service was great. Everyone made us feel totally welcome. After spending 6 days there realized some of the young people were there on 6 month visas from other countries which made really interesting to meet and talk with them with their English skills as good as mine. Our room had a beautiful view of the harbor, bedding was divine rooms super clean. We stayed at the Marriott Harbor days before service or food selection was only on par to Pier One. I would prefer to keep Pier One a secret so when I go back they will have rooms available. Well worth the money to stay there. The location is ideal for walking along the pier. We felt very safe even late at night walking by ourselves along the pier. To me the service the friendliness of staff, there willingness to assist you with any of your needs is a reflection of good management.
This hotel was an amazing stay. Staff where fabulous, so accomodating and friendly. Loved the lobby bar and amazing gym facilities. We dined in the restaurant, the service was 10/10, food 5 star quality and great wine list. Will definitely come back in the near future.
Our entire family gathered at Pier One, Sydney for 2 nights to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Our stay was made special by the combination of professional, helpful and friendly staff in all areas of the hotel as well as first class accommodation in an historical setting on the waterfront and within the historical Rocks area. Their Kerrigan Smokehouse was a unique experience which we took full advantage of for casual eating. The entire experience of being at Pier One, Sydney made last weekend a very memorable and fun time for us and our family. It will be remembered and recalled with delight for many years to come.
Great service , friendly staff , buffet breakfast was superb... would love to stay for longer if time permitted , front staff at the hotel would always greet you . Must have harbour view suite top notch view as per photo below👍
Excellent hotel and also very good breakfast. Just below the Harbor bridge, 5mins walk to good restaurants in the Rocks, 15mins walk to Circular Quay. No Swimmingpool, but a small gym with view on the water. We had the Hickson Suite arranged by our travel agency. Very big and with a convertible Sofa in the Living room. Perfect for parents with kids or 3-4 adults. But no balcony. If you want to spoil yourself rather take one of the balcony suites, otherwise the waterside rooms are as good and more value for the money. Breakfast is cheaper if you book it up front when you check in... There is also a small burger booth just outside the bar on the water side, if you want a small (and less costly..) bite. The only negative is that the free Wifi is not very good/stable - we did not try the paid one .. surprised that paid Wifi still exists...
What a lovely hotel. Staff were so helpful from the minute we arrived. Champagne and strawberries at check in. Lovely room. Staff were all wonderful. Such a central location. Had a walk around the markets Saturday morning and a lovely breakfast
