Fab boutique hotel in the eastern suburbs. Very gay friendly, beautifully appointed and well located hotel on Darlinghurst Road. Convenient to all the best Sydney has to offer - cafes, bars, restaurants, trains, buses or it’s walking distance to pretty much anything. Big bonus is that it is dog friendly, with no stupid surcharge.
Stayed here for three nights, and the main criteria were walking distance to SCG and decent place to sleep. Took a bit of a punt on Medusa, and we were very pleased. Easy walk to cricket ground, pub across the road, plenty of restaurants near by. Had a balcony room, which was very pleasant. It is quirky, it is not your usual modern, chain hotel, so you need to know that. No bar or restaurant in house. The road is noisy, but this is an old building with thick doors and walls. Luke was fantastically helpful, and just full of ideas, and provided over and above help with luggage.
Arrived at 9:30 in the morning after flight from UK - receptionist was very helpful with local knowledge & we got our room by 10:30. Room was good. Location is good - you can walk to central Sydney & there's plenty of nearby restaurants & cafe's - & a pub just across the road.
Really cute little hotel close to st Vincent’s hospital where I had a seminar. Friendly hosts and very clean and comfortable rooms. It was incredibly quiet even though it was the middle of Darlinghurst and the night of the SSM decision and a big football game. The only thing that was an issue was the lack of curtains in the room ( they had shutters and frosted glass so very private) meant the outside lights were a bother at night and in the morning for a light sleeper like me. Blockout curtains would be a great addition. Also some carpeted stairs to climb to the room. Not a problem for me but some might find it an issue.
This hotel has a unique , boutique feel. You are greeted by a giant artwork of medusa in the small reception area. The rooms are very large with windows looking over a courtyard, trees and Centrepoint tower. The windows open and you can hear the birds in the morning and get some fresh air (most unusual for hotel rooms). It almost feels like you are staying at someone's house. Your room has classical music playing as you arrive and chocolate by the bed. There is a little area to make tea/coffee etc with a fridge. Beautiful Aesop toiletries in the bathroom. The location is also fantastic near great bars and cafes. Would stay again.
This hotel rates 5 Star on google - wrong. Lucky if it’s 3 Stars. It’s got the potential to be fabulous it’s in a beautiful building and great location. The rooms are tired, furniture is dated (not vintage). The bedding was itchy and the mattress didn’t allow me a great nights sleep (but each to their own). We paid $235 through Qantas Travel. For $150 it would been okay. Needs a facelift and a personal touch. The it would be a great boutique hotel as it says it is.
Staff were very friendly and we were able to check into our rooms before 9am, which made it so much easier for us. Nothing was a problem, the rooms were lovely and very quiet at night. Luke gave us heaps of advise on the local cafes. They also allowed us a late checkout the next day, so we were able to have breakfast, come collect our luggage and head down to board the ship for our cruise. This is a fantastic hotel to stay and we highly recommended it to everyone
Darlinghurst is the ideal suburb in which to base yourself while visiting Sydney. It's chic, friendly, and has more than its share of great eating places. Luke and Jesse manage Medusa with aplomb. Class and local knowledge, humour and sophistication - these two have it all. The rooms are well-appointed. Comfortable beds, with good linen and bathroom products. We loved it@
The hotel is a lovely old building in a great location with pub across the road and plenty of cafes nearby. Kings Cross is an easy 10 minute walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, interesting in decor and well appointed. The bed was great and the shower good. We enjoyed a large balcony that afforded great views of Darlinghurst Rd and surrounding area. Some may find this room too noisy but we were ok with this. The bathroom is small but functional. A tad overpriced for the standard of hotel.
I've always wanted to stay at the Medusa...having flown to Sydney regularly on business, it was one of the places that I kept my eye on to see if I could get a room in 'budget'...to my delight, one came on offer for the days I was to be there recently. So it was with great anticipation that I finally rocked up to the very cook frontage in Darlinghurst. Now this is the area I ALWAYS stay
