For context, I am a frequent traveler who is not extremely demanding. I am used to Hotel chains in the 3-4 star range. The Courtyard Marriot, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Double Tree type of properties. In every case, I generally expect a clean room, friendly staff and for things to come as advertised. Staff Seem Too Comfortable Saying "No." I left my wife and son in the room and forgot to take a room key. I asked the front desk for another key. They said they only ever give out two keys and that I should see if anyone was in the room. I have never heard this before since room keys are such a small expense that hotels usually are quite liberal about handing them out. We asked if house keeping was going to change the sheets. The lady said "No. We don't change those until after 3 days." Again, not used to this. The Internet We did get free wi-fi. However, you have to log out and log back in after reaching a certain limit. After reaching this limit, you get a passive aggressive "fair use" message. I found this slightly bizarre. The Continental Breakfast We chose this place because of the free continental breakfast. I think it would be more transparent to advertise what they call "Contiental Breakfast" something else. It comprises two slices of bread shrink-wrapped, an individual box of cereal, a box of milk, a fruit cup and an individual cup of juice. I was not a fan of this because my expectations were different. If I knew what I was getting, I might have felt differently. Usually, breakfast included means a bit of a spread, choice of a few things like 2% milk or whole milk if I wanted, like different types of cereal, yoghurt etc. The Good The location is great. You will be within walking distance of most things downtown. The room was pretty big. They have a laundry service on premises. I would neither recommend nor advise against staying here. I just think you need to manage your expectations or better, they need to manager guest expectations better.
We had booked the family room for 5 nights over the New Year period. It’s right next to the train station which is perfect. It’s also within walking distance to the Westfield shopping centre. The room we had was clean, spacious and had an ok view of Hyde park. The beds were made each day to and breakfast was given also alongside a free morning paper. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We would stay again if the chance ever arises.
My wife and I stayed here again just a few weeks ago. We were in Sydney for a business Xmas party and decided that because the hotel was so good on previous occasions, we'd stay here again. I cant think of another place in the center of Sydney, with free parking, free continental breakfast, kitchenette, balcony, a view of Hyde Park, opposite a subway station and close to good eateries......all for around $160 per night for RSL members. This visit was like all the others. Fabulous. The only difference this time was that for the first time we had a meal in the adjoining restaurant, which was, likewise, Fabulous. Visiting Sydney? Do yourself a favour and look this hotel over, compare it (and its price) with others, you'll be glad you did.
We needed an affordable family place to stay that was in the heart of Sydney. The Hyde Park Inn fitted this need perfectly. We received 2 large bedrooms, a living room and kitchen. We were provided with free WIFI which helped us to book activities and a simple continental breakfast in-room with a newspaper. The location of the hotel is right next to Museum railway station which made it easy to get to all the highlights of Sydney cheaply. As hotel is so close to the railway station we were able to use the train to get to and from the airport and the international cruise port at Circular Quay. Room was quiet and free self serve laundry made life easy when traveling with children. Liverpool St has some cheaper family meals which is just around the corner.
Ideal for sightseeing in Sydney being near station and bus stops. Our apartment was opposite the impressive Anzac Memorial and gardens. Very friendly staff, spotlessly clean and supplied breakfast ideal to get us out and about. Could well recommend.
This place is right across the street from Hyde Park and across from the Museum subway station. It's an excellent location and not too far from a "hop on/off" bus stop. The room I got had a great view of the Anzak Memorial and it was incredibly spacious. The only thing to keep in mind is that the continental breakfast is placed in your refrigerator for you and isn't gonna fill you up. They also do not have a restaurant on site, but the restaurant next door gives a discount for those staying at Hyde Park Inn. The room, however, was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were helpful. Highly recommend!
The check-in went smoothly and the staff were courteous, informative and friendly. The room was comfortable and quiet. It was close enough to all the places we wanted to go and see. I liked the fact that the hotel has a self service laundry. The hotel allows you to store your bags until you are ready to finally depart.
Very well located accommodation, close to Museum Station, opposite picturesque Hyde Park - three of us stayed here very comfortably for 6 nights. What we found most convenient was the supplied breakfast each morning which meant we could get up, have breakfast and then head out without too much fuss - the breakfast consisted of toast and condiments, yoghurt, cereal, fruit and juice - a good start to the day. Close to a new mover if good restaurants including a fantastic Italian recommended by the hotel staff. Clean, tidy and well appointed, if visiting Sydney again I would find it hard to bypass Hyde Park Inn.
We stayed here for 4 days and it is a great place to stay. So central to everything, great pubs and restaurants and tourist attractions. Very clean and the daily free breakfast is a bonus. The staff are friendly and always assisted us when needed. The only downside to this place is the parking, just to get in and out of the place is hard as the turn is very narrow and the spaces very small. If you have a big vehicle think again there is very little room and plenty of evidence on their walls of drivers who are going home with less paint.
As you only sleep here, has everything you need, but was basic. Breakfast left in the fridge of cereal, toast, juice and fruit, so adequate. Room was quite large with plenty of storage, and check in was Ok. We arrived quite early and did have to wait to get to the room, but was expected. Not too far from all attractions, and easy to get about. Subway across the road and goes straight to he airport, and easy to change to other places.
