Stayed here as the cricket was on in Sydney. Found that the staff were all really friendly and helpful throughout the stay. Nice to have helpful suggestions and friendly faces. The room that we had was overlooking the street. Not noisy at all and pleasantly cool. The room was in a good state for the couple of nights that we were there. Useful that they gave cafe/breakfast recommendations since it’s not possible at the hotel. Very convenient for the SCG and useful they could call a shuttle for the airport. Would use again for the cricket.
The hotel is in a fairly pleasant location just outside city centre. I would recommend for a couple of nights at most or if you are on a budget. We booked through an agent and the pictures on the web are not representative of the actual hotel. Good points: Mark on reception is helpful. There is a good information pack in your room. They have DIY laundry facilities. Wifi is good. They provide an iron in room. Limited underground parking on first come first served basis. We had a room over looking the courtyard. Not so good points: Very very tired. Dark musty corridors. Small rooms with windows that don't open. Room didn't feel clean not sure when the bed had ever been hoovered underneath. Tarnished bathroom mirrors, mould on tiles and in fridge. Very basic and very tired hotel. The hairdryer in the bathroom is something you would get in a very basic Greek hotel room. Although they did supply a proper one when asked. Seriously needs upgrading to make it more bright and welcoming. i was disappointed at having to spend 7 nights here on holiday.
We stayed 10nights in the Arts Hotel on Oxford Street - what a great hotel 👍 It’s in a superb location accessed by several buses which will take you straight to Circular Quay. It’s a simple & straight forward hotel and has everything you need. Great shower with L’Occitaine products. Good Tea/Coffee making facilities, a good little fridge, hairdryer & iron. Next door is the Rose, Shamrock & Thistle which does great food, there are breakfast places nearby too. The small pool is a super place to cool down on a hot afternoon as is the leafy & shady garden courtyard - we loved the Art Deco mural at the poolside. Truly a special little hotel & one will return to on our next visit to see our family.
My husband had heart surgery this year so we have had to spend many nights in Sydney. I stayed at various places but The Arts Hotel was by far the best. Clean modern rooms with everything you need. My room was overlooking Oxford Street but I had no road noise due to the triple door leading on to the balcony. I even had views of Sydney Harbour. I felt safe walking to and from St Vincent's Hospital day and night which was basically across the road..maybe 100m away from the hotel. I will always stay here when in Sydney, it wqas only a 15 minute walk to the city and buses came by every few minutes.
Nice spot! Lots of interesting places to see and plenty of food options. Amazing book shop next door and close to Paddington markets. Very close to Moore Park. Hosts were lovely Rooms small but clean and quiet. Pool was great for a cool down in the afternoon
From start to finish 3 nights this place was superb. Great location really easy to get around a bus stop is not even a minute away and the train station is close too. Paddington is a superb place for wandering around and best of all the staff particularly mark were helpful friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much bother and helped us check in and confirm our flights too just fab
I felt very relaxed and comfortable in this clean, neat and modern hotel. Room size is adequate and the bathroom toilet is functional if only built for one. Queen size bed, plenty of TV channels, nice big desk to work from and good clothes storage. Location is outstanding. Pub next door offers good meals with everything discounted to Arts customers, 7eleven next to that has a good choice of coffee and snacks, there is an abundance of shops close by, easy walk to CBD and the bus stops are almost right outside. One in the Bondi direction and the other into the city and beyond. Very helpful and friendly staff. Ticks all the boxes for a 3 star establishment
Stayed 6 nights due to family member in near by hospital. Was very comfortable and ideally located. My room smelt musty possibly due to a previous water leak but was only noticeable upon entry but wasn’t a problem. Was able to park under hotel and this alone saved heaps. Basic motel but got everything you need if your not looking for a 5 star hotel. Thank you!
The service: there isn’t really any. Front desk is not particularly friendly, there is no lobby, there are no bathrooms. I was given some helpful advice about how to operate the bus system, but definitely 2/5 stars. On my floor there were large bags of dirty laundry left in the corner of the hallways most of the time. The room: don’t look around too much. It’s not particularly clean. There was something spilled and dripped down the wall under the desk that was never cleaned up. The mattress needed to be replaced many years ago. The daily room tidy was satisfactory, but certainly didn’t go above and beyond to organize anything or show care. 2/5 stars Location: 40 minute walk to the harbor, easily accessible for the buses. 4/5 Overall: I thought I booked and know I paid for something around 3 stars. In actuality, 2 is generous. If it was advertised as a motel I wouldn’t have been as disappointed.
We stayed here after a week on the road. The reception was welcoming and enabled an early check in. The room was comfortable and quiet. The WiFi worked well. The hotel was central enough to be able to walk everywhere or get a bus. Booking the shuttle for the next morning was a breeze.
