Location more suited for exploring the area with a car, but if you need a cab the hotel will order for you and the cab firm are prompt. A spacious hotel with fireplace and wood panelling in large reception area. Staff very helpful and when the maintenance team were unable to fix our bathroom extractor fan we were left a handwritten note apologising for inconvenience and a bag of salt caramel fudge sweets. Our double room had a huge kingsize bed and the room was spacious and clean. Only downside was the wardrobe which had sliding doors and made it awkward to gain access to hang clothes up - especially when they have the hangars which hook onto the fixed rail. These are the bane of my life when travelling! Good hairdryer and bathroom clean and with good power shower. Restaurant in the evening offered a decent range of wines and food was well prepared and presented. Service was good although a bit pricey. To go out to eat you would have to drive or get a cab so you pay for the convenience of eating in. Breakfast was busy but no queuing and offered cereals as well as cooked choice. Some pastries on offer also. To work it all off you can use the fitness centre which had a reasonable sized pool and gym aswell as treatment room although didn't check if this was available to guests as well as members of the gym. A good place to consider as a venue for conferences as they cater for groups aswell.
Asked for quiet room-got one-but 1st night I was cold-the room was a route march from Reception with 3 outside walls.2nd night asked(twice) for another duvet-so was O.K. Have fruit and pastries for breakfast-there were no prunes/grapefruit/oranges+only 3 sorts of pastries-poor for a Holiday Inn .
The room was big and clean - So it was good for a one night stay. The furniture in the room looked worn and the air con was very noisy. The bar downstairs was really expensive, costing £7 for a single gin with tonic, so it was cheaper to jump in an Uber and find a nearby pub. The reception staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. I would recommend for a one night airport stay.
Just what you expect from a good one. My only fault would be its a little out of town but other than that its a high quality Holiday Inn for business and pleasure. My two night stay for work was faultless, breakfast was well presented and cooked and the staff were very helpful. Well done Holiday Inn!
The pluses: 1) Its location near the University. 2) The sport centre. 3) The friendly reception staff. The minuses: 1) The uncomfortable beds and sheets. 2) The slow restaurant service. 3) The necessity to scrutinise the bill filled with erroneous charges.
This is a good Holiday Inn with the perfect location for our visit to Surrey University although it is a little distance out of the town. The rooms are good with excellent Wi Fi the bathrooms are a little dated and could do with an update and the installation of shower cabinets.
Great location - proximity to University of Surrey. Easy to find, adequate parking space, clean rooms, friendly reception and easy check-in. Nice bar linked with a Starbucks. Great full English breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed.
The hotel is incredible , amazing views, good restaurant seats, Starbucks coffee available. Great parking, all excellent good value for money, good receptionist. Fridge in the bedroom I was well impressed. However very rude people at the gym. I was told off by an old lady because I was playing on my phone while I was on a rest set. Being a personal trainer I know what I am doing and I was texting an urgent text back whilst on a machine. I wasn't using the machine unreasonably . She could have asked to join my set but instead shouted at me saying that, the machine wasn't mine and I should let the others use. I was shocked by the old lady's behaviour as she looked very classy to be talking in this manner. Apparently once I complained , the staff said this wasn't the first time she did it. That was the only downside of my stay. I don't think I would be coming back because I felt uncomfortable using the gym and people in the area and hotel perhaps has no manners...
I stayed for several nights between Christmas and New Year. The staff are all friendly and helpful but the hotel itself is pretty dated, and was disappointing for the high rate I paid. Not sure why it was so expensive as the place was virtually empty while I was there. I had an Executive room on the upper floor. Be aware, there are no lifts so not being one for travelling light, I had to lug my case up 2 flights of stairs then along a neverending corridor. If you are less mobile this is something to consider. The room itself was fine, a good size but smelled musty almost like someone had been smoking. The aircon has a mind of its own and although I switched it off I woke on two nights baking in 25C heat. Bathroom again a bit dated but has an amazingly powerful shower that I loved, and plenty of hot water. The bed was so comfortable, as were the pillows - I didn't want to get up! Not a fan of the sliding shutters instead of curtains, they stick and don't close properly so the light gets in but overall an ok room. Beware of the mini-bar. It really is automated so if you move anything you're charged, but reception were very helpful in rectifying the bill. Pool, sauna and steam room were all ok, again dated with a few rusty bits which made it feel dirty, but I had a relaxing time. Staff very friendly and attentive. Water and drinks available in spa reception (reasonable price too) if you overdo the sauna. Breakfast had a good selection of continental and cooked but maybe because I didn't get there early and it wasn't busy, the bacon needed a hacksaw. It had been under the heat lamp and was rock solid. Scrambled eggs were a bit dry because of this too. The sausages were great though and I prefer my food hot which it certainly was. Dinner was in the lounge, very quiet with rarely more than half a dozen guests. Staff good and very attentive without being intrusive. Menu is quite varied, teriyaki salmon was lovely. Watch for the service charge and room service too is quite pricey. Overall ok for a business stay or if you have a car to get about. Loads of free parking but it is a bit out of the way otherwise. If you want to walk to the shops or for a coffee you can't. Can't fault the staff, and I felt totally safe and comfortable as a solo female traveller, but the hotel itself is very tired and a bit depressing. May stay again if I got a great deal but would rather be more central next time.
First off this is a Holiday Inn not the hilton so set expectations accordingly. Executive rooms are a good size. Beds are comfortable. Wifi worked, eventually. Bar staff were willing but badly trained can't blame them for that but can blame the management. Bar food is ok. Restaurant has all the atmosphere of a cave eat in the lounge, much nicer.
