Very helpful and service minded team, rooms are a good size and well equipped, pool and SPA area is attractive, restaurant from good quality in both food and service. The bar is always a place where to take a glass and have some company of other hotel guests. The furniture, decor and lifts are old fashioned but for those who like a little bit the "modern" style from the seventies with a lot of wood it is great.
Stayed at Pullman Fontana for 6 nights on a Business Trip. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The service at the reception was fast and effective. The staff were friendly and eager to help. The hotel is right next to the Vaihingen train & bus station and is convenient for those travelling to other places. They have a restaurant and bar within the hotel. It is expensive but the food quality is good. They have gym, swimming pool and sauna & spa for relaxation. Rooms have television but only with German channels. Mini bar and coffee bars are available in the room. Initially the room provided to me did not have a good working air conditioner and was quite warm. The staff was kind enough to change my room to a better one on request. The non smoking rooms have windows that can be opened for fresh air. Washrooms have shower area with tubs. Housekeeping do a good job keeping it neat. There is a nice park right opposite the building and bakeries and restaurants are at a walk-able distance. We located decent Indian & Chinese restaurants nearby as well. Overall, recommended for a good stay.
If you arrive to Stuttgart by train, it will take you about 20 mins to reach the hotel. The hotel is almost at the train station, so there is no problem with the luggage. Organize your internet package and breakfast at the reception or beforehand. Bar and restaurant are really good, offering a variety of drinks and snacks. The breakfast great - a range of dishes and drinks. Internet is stable and the rooms seem to be quitet, so one can relax and/or work. Room is also spatious. There are gym and spa area. The gym has 5-6 machines, a yoga mat and some weights. It is usually empty early in the morning, and opening hours are really long (6-23 if I am not mistaken). There are busses going to Max Planck institute just in front of the hotel. The neighbourhood seems to be calm and green.
The hotel was very friendly and pleanty of facilities. The ubahn (u1) starts from outside the hotel and takes you via the streets to stuttgart. centre Also the sbahn station is accross from the hotel and takes 13 minutes to the centre of Stuttgart as well as local buses.which take you to other parts of the area.
Great location next to the Vaihingen train stop for easy access to downtown Stuttgart. Short ride from STR airport. Rooms were comfortable. There was some noise from the train station but I did not notice it with the window closed. Spa was nice however be advised it is no swimsuits and coed. (Tip for modest visitors: get a big towel from the pool/lounge area to wrap yourself if it makes you more comfortable. The towels they provide to sit on by the sauna/steam room are the size of hand towels). Swimsuits were worn in the pool, however. The layout is a bit odd as you have to pass by the pool to get between the spa area and dressing/locker room. Breakfast was an additional €17 (it is included in some rates) but the selection was satisfying. Gym was small but had a few machines and weights. Only negative was the rooms don't provide hair conditioner so wish I had known to pack some. Staff was courteous. Will likely return to the Pullman if I'm in the area.
In general the hotel is in need of an update, from the clunky door keys to the slow lifts and for me most importantly the rooms climate control. While some may like the room to be hot (80'F) most of us would prefer low 70's. This was my third visit this year and each time I have had problems with the room as the climate control was not working correctly. Either it did not work period or would come on for 10 seconds and then switch off for 2 minutes. The hotel staff acknowledge the concern and depending on the day may address or not. Twice now the hotel maintenance team has 'bridged' the fan to run at medium speed all the time, so no temperature control or fan speed is possible. Opening a window brings in the ambient conditions, such as the trains, the humidity, smoke from taxi rank etc. Bottom line is they need to fix the air conditioning. Booking in advance is the way to go to get the best rate, especially breakfast which is around 24 euros per day if you don't. Hotel location is good right next to railway station, of course that can be annoying at times. Pillows are either hard or so soft they wrap around your head..... due to climate control sleep quality is affected.....
Fantastic stay! Although all of the Pullman's staff I encountered were professional, I would like to highlight Samira at the front desk, Stefan at the bar, and Hannah in housekeeping---they were particularly wonderful. Well done Pullman!
This is a very fine hotel. At the arrival I did not see the garage right away, so this would be reccommandable to improve. Check in was friendly and quite swift. Generally the staff is excellent, I did not see one single unfriendly face. They are also very flexible. After many years I was holding a real room key in my hands. Cute. Rooms are comfortable, luckily with bath tube what is very important for me. THEY STILL HAVE SMOKER ROOMS!!!! Such a nice feeling. The hotel did not subdue to the leathal infection in Germany to have empty minibar in room with that lousy vending machines. Minibar is well stocked, perfect. With tea making facilities as well. Bathrobe and sleepers are there and you don't have to beg for them like in other German 4 stars hotel. Hotel is old, but not tired at all, everything is functional. And I liked two phones - one on night desk and other on writting table. The pillows however are a bit unconfortable. A hotel to reccommand for a businness travel
Positives: 1. Location, location, location - It's right on the subway line (Vaihingen) and is very convenient and easy to get into downtown Stuttgart. It takes approx. 15-20 min. on the S-bahn to get to Stuttgart Hbf. It's also less than a 10 min. drive to Patch Barracks. 2. Military discount - ask for the military rate. They give it on the room and on breakfast. 3. Good service, clean rooms, good staff, good breakfast. Negatives: 1. Wifi. This is probably the main reason that I would consider not staying here in the future. I even paid (6 euros per day) for the premium access and it was no better than the free wifi. It was completely unreliable and really had a huge negative impact on my stay. 2. No AC. There was air blowing into the room but it wasn't cold. There were big windows in my room but it was hot out so that wasn't much help.
The best feature of this hotel is that it is practically on the same property as Stuttgart's Hbf. Since my husband and I are traveling by train, this was a real bonus. The hotel itself was very good, with the exception of the very expensive breakfast (20+ Euros), which we decided to opt out of. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and, as one would expect, spoke English for those of us who are Deutsch-deficient. Overall, a great place but the over-priced breakfast was my reason for 4 stars.
