Sturbridge Host Hotel & Conference Center

I'm used to Marriott properties so I was very disappointed here with how outdated the facility was. The person at desk was rubbing his face and then asked for my license and credit card. That seemed unprofessional. The room was ground level and was dank and it's smelled like someone smoked in there and then masked with Fabreeze.

We only stayed here for one night but staff was great. They brought a fridge to our room even though we asked very late. The room was very clean. Pool water on the cold side. Wish we had time for the boat paddle rental. Many restaurants around and Old Sturbridge village is a five minute car drive away.

I was pleasantly impressed when arriving at the Sturbridge Host Hotel & Conference Center. The facility sits on the bank of a small lake & is very peaceful. The room eith 2 double beds was very pleasant & even though we looked out on the dining/entertainment area there was very little noise except an occasional bag rolling across the bricks. Hotel staff was very friendly & helpful. Further from Boston than I expected - at least an hour each way & longer during rush hour.

I've stayed at several places in the area. This was by far the nicest experience to date. The staff was very helpful. The room was large and clean. There are several excellent restaurants within walking distance from the hotel.

I felt like I was at the place in Dirty Dancing. Might be good for families. Room was clean, TV was old and satellite was marginal. While the rooms were updated and nice the hotel was generally dark, and 70s like. The bar had all these beers listed on the menu but essentially unless you wanted a bud or the standard no taste American low cost fare, they "were waiting on their beer delivery". Very much set up for wedding parties, so there were long lines at checking. Not a bad place, but definitely not worth the $.

Some minor problems with wall not repaired, bathroom fan didn't work.

Pool opens late/closed early-no late night activities Rooms are nice/ hotel could use some repair

We got a great deal for this hotel and thought the value was worth the price we paid. The rooms were standard. Bed was not very comfortable, that would be my only complaint. The staff and food at the resturants was excellent.

Our room was actually two rooms with a balcony overlooking beautiful Cedar Lake. An ideal location

This place could use a multi-million dollar facelift. It's really quite shabby. The room was dark and musty. The carpeting, furniture and wallcoverings were stained. The redwood terrace facing the lake needed paint and repairs. The Oxhead Tavern restaurant was just passable.

The sturbridge Host: The rooms have been remodeled and the granite counter tops and shaping of cabinetts in the bathroom was nice to see and the view of the lake was romantic. To relax in the hot tub was very refreshing would like it to stay open later but all around a great time.

Nicely renovated room seemed fresh and comfortable. Housekeeping was quick and responsive to our needs. Centrally located to all the local attractions. Overall a good experience.
