The room was dated but clean. The staff were very nice and welcoming. The only issue was with an unnecessary very slow check-in. We had to wait twice, for the process to be completed. First, the receptionist decided to check in other guests before giving the hotel welcome speech. ??? So we had to wait for 15m for that. After she gave the welcome run down of the hotel facilities and hours, etc, we had to wait another 10m for her to see if our room was ready. While she was ‘checking on that’ - she had processed another group of guests. 25 minutes later we were given the keys to our room which had been waiting for us on her desk the entire time. She was very nice, but the whole process was ridiculous. I have never experienced this type of piece by piece check in before.

Far from main road. 4 days in we needed a shuttle van and were never told what it was for. This could have been used to help with getting to the main road to take other transport. Taxi's are many times more than main road transit. Also a good distance from all the main action of the Gap. Staff good... assisted when asked. Dining OK... Pool area OK. Many broken pool chairs. ZERO entertainment unless you call a manager's meeting at mid day when most go out. Was out so no idea how that was but told steel pan music. Other than that - no other entertainment in pm. Charged for calls and for room safe also. Other hotel we stayed at for SAME PRICE had all that included.

The positive: super friendly staff. The pool in the pink building is nice, clean and new feeling! The staff are very accommodating, the building from the outside is been maintained decently. There are nice areas outside to hang out and pretty birds flying around....It's a nice quiet side of the gap location wise! The negative: the over all cleanliness needs to be better. There was dirty cupboards with finger print marks, the doors had a layer of dirt along the frame where people touch often, the cupboards have a layer of dirt/dust along the edges, the lamp shades were dusty, the room info sheet was sticky and had food stuck to it, the walls had finger marks...... this was not the cleaners fault but more the over all expectation around what a clean room should be like. The rooms aren't cheap and over all I expected better quality for what I was spending but we had a decent stay.

The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The room met our needs for the one night before we went to a resort next door. The room itself could use some updating, especially the bathroom!! But all in all, if we return to the area we would not hesitate to stay here, again!

This property offers rooms with kitchen facilities there are grocery stores close by as well, making it easy to select items for breakfast or whatever. Room was spotless, house keeping every day ! The beach is right there and it’s not crowded and there are loungers. The pools and garden area is lovely this property offers very good value for your vacation dollars. We will be back!!!

Good location with plenty of choices to eat and drink within walking distance. Supermarket nearby. Rooms are a generous size, a little dated but clean and bed is comfortable. Excellent air conditioning. Lovely pool area with enough sun loungers when I was there. Direct access to beach. Bar and restaurant located by the pool, food reasonable and not overpriced. Staff were friendly, some smiled more than others but not rude. Certainly a reasonable place to enjoy Barbados from.

The main building was ocean front but the other two were not. Expected a kitchenette but got only a fridge and microwave and kettle. Two cups and saucers but no plates or cutlery. These were supplied on request. Building is old and rooms badly set out. Lots of wasted space. Nothing happening in the evenings bar/restaurant closed about 8! Breakfast was ok but didn’t eat in the restaurant. Lots of places to eat nearby.

The Dover Beach Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of St Lawrence Gap and within walking distance of many amenities. Although a bit dated, the rooms are exceptionally clean. The staff are extremely polite and courteous… always smiling and ready to assist.

The Hotel should update all photos to reflect the true appearance of the hotel. The staff are wonderful but the facilities are not up to par. If you are the type that can "rough it out" then go right ahead. If you are unable to be at peace if your environment is untidy, then this is not the place for you. I actually ended up staying elsewhere for the entire trip and checked out of the hotel officially just before my flight. The location is great and again, i emphasize wonderful staff. Serious upgrades needed to modernize, more attention needed in cleaning the bathroom, and replace all fittings that are peeling, rusting, or stained.
