My son was married in Cesky Krumlov and the Hotel Ruze was OUTSTANDING! Milan and his staff made our day memorable. Adding Czech tradition to the reception and taking special care of every guest. The food was over the top fabulous, the views from the patio were spectacular. A first class hotel with a friendly staff. Everything was in place to make a fairytale wedding day for the bride and groom and all of the guests. THANK YOU HOTEL RUZE! Highly recommend this hotel for venue or holiday stay.
We attended a wedding and reception at the Hotel Ruze. The location was wonderful, right on the river, the hotel was lovely and the STAFF was excellent. Would like to make special mention of Milan the host for the hotel during the event. He was extremely gracious and accommodating. The food was wonderful and everyone that attended had a wonderful time. We thank you for your hospitality Hotel Ruze, would like to recommend to anyone that needs a venue for their event.
We found this hotel to be absolutely charming with a real European feel and we loved that. It is an old monastery. It fits right in with the little village of cszecky krumlov. You can stay at a super modern hotel anywhere, but this hotel will transport you to medieval times in comfort.
Cesky Krumlov is a must, and my favourite place on our 4 week holiday. We stayed at Hotel Ruze for 3 nights, definitely would not rate it as 5 start. It is very well situated and has the potential to be spectacular. The rooms were very cute, with 'period' furnishings, but was in dire need of refurbishment. The check in staff were very friendly and helpful. The Restaurant Staff however were not! Suggest you do not eat in the restaurant, it was the most costly and the worst food we had during our 4 day stay, the local restaurants are fantastic. The breakfast is acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Overall is was OK.
Hubby and I stayed here as part of a Back Roads Bike Trip. This is a unique hotel, comfortable and well located for walking around the city. Our room had a most beautiful view to the Vltava River below, where we watched happy school children float down the river. Rooms are medieval in decor and each is a bit different. Ours had a throne like chair at one end of the room, and a large and high medieval bed at the other. The bathroom was large, as well. The rooms are rather dark, as one would expect from a hotel of this era. Breakfast buffet was sumptuous. If you want the amenities of an American hotel, find a different hotel. If you enjoy the adventure of staying in new cities and new places and enjoying the culture of the area, do stop here!
We had an acceptable two night stay at this hotel but it certainly was not 5 star standard so I am not sure who has rated it 5 star. The rooms were cute and had character but ours was in need of refurbishment. The bathroom amenities were disappointing as the shampoos and soaps provided were poor quality and there was absolutely no hair conditioner provided at all. In addition, no face clothes were provided and the showers are simply hand held shower heads to use while standing or sitting in the bath. A proper shower with a decent quality shower head would be an enhancement for sure. The check in process was slow and painful as there was a queue of people all checking in at once when we arrived and only one person handling everyone. It was also very unclear when we arrived, what to do about our car and luggage as the hotel is a wee walk over the bridge to enter the town. No signs indicated that it was safe to drive up to the hotel door so we ended up walking with a lot of luggage. Apparently you can drive in so a sign should be put up to make this clear. Having said that, the check in and check out staff were friendly and greeted us with a smile. While our rooms were relatively clean, there was a sticky substance on our remote controls for the air conditioning that should have been wiped off. The floor area in the lobby and dining areas was filthy and needed a good scrub with a brush and soap. It looked like it had had nothing but a basic soft mop for several years. The outdoor terrace for dining is lovely and a much nicer place to sit and dine. Breakfast was underwhelming and we opted for cereal and toast after having a disappointing cooked breakfast of cold grey coloured scrambled eggs and chewy ham on the first morning. As others have commented, you may miss out on certain items if you breakfast late. On our second morning we arrived at breakfast around 9 am. There was no white bread for toasting and only brown bread. Our children do not eat brown bread. I asked a waitress to please replenish the white bread and was told - "we can't as everyone else ate it". She said this to me like it was not the hotel's fault! The hotel should most certainly have extra of all basic breakfast items so they can replenish for the entire breakfast service and even the last diners do not miss out on any item of their choosing. It is unacceptable to run out of food and it is easy for hotels to over cater and plan better so this does not happen. Having said this, we did not. Price a wides ale problem with many items running out as others had commented. Only the toast and hot chocolate ran out while we were there. I also heard wait staff arguing with each other in the dining room in front of guests. This was unpleasant and left me wondering if the staff at this hotel are unhappy. While breakfast was among the worst I have ever had, overall we had a good stay in a lovely town with gorgeous views and a quiet and cute room. I would not be in a hurry to go back but I do feel that with a little effort, cleaning and refurbishment, this hotel could be truly lovely. Overall it was OK.
This hotel is a mediaval experience by itself. Confortable and very well located. Warm welcome and really dedicaded staff. Just make sureyou know how to get there. My spouse and I have been treated like king and queen!
The hotel is at most, average. The service attitude of the people working there is great. We wanted to thank Stephan, the Head of Reception that was able to assist us and feel special in overcoming several pitfalls we encountered. Without his intervention we would not be writing a positive report. Rooms are a deception, old and pretty basic. They do need a quick revamping!
we loved the flair and atmosphere of the hotel, the building is historical and the location is perfect, the service was perfect as well, our car has been parked in a privat parking slot, all the staff is very frendly and helpful. The restaurant has a very nice terrace.
Lovely old building Rooms creaky old floor boards Broken room furniture Backpacker type bedding and mattresses Big TV inside smaller cabinet obscuring the screen But the clincher was the dirty bathroom Shower screen that folds back had a line of grime which could have been there for months Tiles dirty Just grotty All in all a generally grotty place Definitely not worthy of the four stars Time for a review folks
