We visited the hotel for 2 weeks at an unbelievable price. Had never been to Tunisia before, if I ever go back I will definitely be staying at the Golf Residence (which is actually at the port) and where we spent most of our days/nights. The breakfast was beige. I can only eat so much in the morning so this was a good trait to have. There was a nice man on site to make fresh crepes. Dinner I enjoyed 2/14 nights we stayed. If I ever see Spaghetti Bolognese again I'll convulse. Suppose if you like low budget bolognese then this hotel may be ideal for you. The room was nice. Shower was great. Missed all the little things though such as: fridge, glasses, safe and air con. (Didn't expect it at the price we paid) but when I had 40 dinar stolen from my shorts, £5 in coins from my wallet, 20 marlboro lights and a bar of chocolate I then expected a safe for the room. Reported this to the head maid she shrug her shoulders and asked me what I wanted her to do. A very small fraction of the staff were rude, one bar man in particular that refused to give us glasses (despite having none in our room) and refused to give us ice (despite having no air con). The woman behind reception continuously short changed us when we exchanged money and several bar men also claimed he had no changed and would give me it later which I never saw again. Entertainment consisted of 2 young men feeling up young girls around the pool and playing the same song on repeat at night. There was a man named Rico who previously supplied entertainment and he was really attentive however he moved to a different hotel. This hotel was cheap but however we found that for £50 more you can stay at the Golf Residence were the entertainment was great day in day out and the pool was immaculate. Guests we met here were the only thing I'd recommend, you'd have a great laugh sharing this terrible experience with other people equally as driven insane.
This hotel has got potential and a great shower but iam afraid that's it! Do not be put off Tunisia because this hotel is not a good representation of how the hotels are. My friend and I are just back from spending 2 weeks there and I have to say it was terrible. Breakfast was ok, but dinner was just disgusting and was always cold. Its also stated as an adults only hotel... but it's not! seen lots of shouting between staff and staff and guests and apart from most of the waiters and Rico the rest of the staff were just so ignorant.. Final comment. £50 was stolen out my purse which was hidden in the room. I reported it to the manager who appeared to be helpful but soon backtracked on what he said. I ended up having to go to the police station in Sousse to report this. Very scary stuff and not what you expect to happen. Other guests had money stolen as well so clearly not a one off situation. I could say more but I wont. Yes I know it's a 3 star.. but there should still be standards and I am truly gutted that we chose this hotel. It wont put me off Tunisia but I will never be back near that hotel.
I stayed here with my partner for 2 weeks in June and would not recommend it to anyone! During this time we had money stolen from us (as well as two other guests), rude bar staff, rubbish pool, too far from the beach or any other attractions, two really annoying entertainment staff who made guests feel uncomfortable, only hotel not to sell passport stamps required for the journey home, food was really bad - very little choice, its currently next to a building site so noisey from 8am... the list could go on and on. I would recommend Tunisia, its a lovely place and really cheap but if you are going then check out the Golf hotel across from Aqua Park, we went there regularly to get away from the Daphne Club Mirimar and the pools great, hotel entertainment that was actually entertaining and really good food. I will give credit to one member of staff called Rico, the initial hotel entertainer - he was only there a few days before he made a lucky escape to another hotel. I've uped this review from one star to two on account of him - giving credit where credit is due !
Just home last night and can't wait to go back to Tunisia. BUT I wouldn't go to this hotel if it was free!! Adults only hotel? We arrived on a Sunday afternoon to a whole reception of screaming kids and a tunisian woman screaming at the receptionist. When I said I thought it was an adult only hotel they tried to make out they didn't understand me. Room was upstairs in another building with no lift. We opened balcony door on arrival and all the dust and black hair blew across the floor. The place was filthy!!! We asked for top bed covers to be changed as they were stained the head housekeeper took them away and never replaced them....we were there 2 weeks!! Tunisia has closed currency but we could not get money at hotel until next day so nothing to do with no money the first night. Sorry for long story but that's only the first day and it gets worse... The first week there was some although not much entertainment. The animators were never going to be able to do a good job as there were only 30 guests (can't think why lol). Rico pulled me up for telling another guest the hotel was rubbish (again I wonder). Second week There was no entertainment only supposed entertainers begging cigarettes and coffee continuously not even a bit of music at night until Saturday when the tunisian families appear again!! To top it all my friend had a £50 note taken from her purse which was in her case in the room. Manager was nice enough at first but then said she had to go to police office where she was kept for 2 hours and still did not know what was happening. Arrogant staff who deliberately stood waiting for tips OMG don't go to this place. There are many many better hotels this is cheap and nasty and really does not reflect what port el kantaoui is actually like. I know because this was our 6th holiday there in the past 18 months...
Could be a good hotel but has its issues,, good rooms good shower, air conditioning rubbish boiling in rooms,, food ok'ish,Tunisian breakfast English sliced cheese on first few days then ran out for the whole 2 weeks, spag bol every evening plus some fish, chips roasted soggy veg, rice like rock, tablecloths could do with a boil wash!! Security man on hotel gate day and night, however at least 5 people had money stolen from rooms and had to go to police station and 1 was a large amount,,although these people didn't have safes and left money in rooms,it became obvious it was an ongoing issue, We had man from reception come in our room at 2 in morning and frightened us to death, they said this was a genuine mistake as someone had called reception but they got the room number wrong! Round the pool plenty of sunbeds, pool great not too deep at one end never busy,,we came here as an adult only hotel but counted 12 children in 2 weeks! Bar staff n waiters great nothing to much trouble, pool lads are okay friendly nut very very amusing when trying to just relax n enjoy sunbathing,,no evening entertainment, water polo in day that's it! Half hr walk to the marina rather hot,it's a drag really but you can get taxi couple of dinar. All in all we had a great holiday at this hotel, holiday is what you make it
Hi everyone. Let me tell you a little story.visited this hotel with my dad of 83yrs. Read the reviews and was a little hesitant, however arrived late and was met by reception chap pleasant and more than accommodating showed us to our room thank fully ground floor. Room clean and was impressed at the linen clean and smelt fresh. Arrive for breakfast not to every ones taste but hey were not at home. Staff pleasant. Spent most days by the pool where activities' were scheduled daily and through out the night. Was met by a gentleman by the name of Rico I have to say he spent a lot of time chatting to all guests welcoming and assisting where needed. This was the start of a new friendship. All staff were attentive to my needs, nothing was too much trouble I guess I was spoilt along with my dad. The hotel manager was also attentive with a open door policy he was very approach able and on occasion also joined us in the bar.. I will be returning to this hotel to get married and yes to a local. Please do not be put off by some of the reviews. But please the entertainment at this hotel makes this hotel. Rico and team well done with out you they may as well close the doors. Regards Amanda & Bob. X x ❤
Its a great hotel with some really nice people considering the price we paid it was more than what we expected and most importantly rico the culbs entertainment guy made our hoilday a great one definitely going back there in a month or two .
This hotel is located quite a distance away from the beach. The hotel staff are really aragont, they are not helpful at all. I went with my wife first time here and believe me this is my last time. My wife's money got stolen when we arrived at the room the door was opened and money missing. When we reported this to the manager he was not helpful did not even acknowledge the fact that my wife was so upset. In fact he tried scaring us by saying I will call the police and you have to go to the station. Why should we be scared so went reported everything and since then nothing ever happened not even an apology from the management. His name was Mr. Fredj. I did book this holiday via jet2 so currently in the process of making a complaint and hopefully get the money back. So please I would not recconmend this hotel at all. To just finish this comment a guy who works as an entertainer through a 3rd party company mentioned to me this is not the first time money has been missing it happened 2 weeks ago so this tells you a lot. People are just scared because It's a little bit of money but something needs to be done.
Some of the staff in this hotel were arrogant and not helpful at all. I was 3 months pregnant and required special tea which I did not receive (i had the ingredients) and I could not eat in the dining room because of the smell which made me sick so I asked to eat in the lobby which was also refused. Moreover I slipped outside my room as there was water that I couldn't see I told the receptionist and she did not do anything nor apologised or even called a doctor for a checkup. Throughout I was being ignored and not given any attention. I would not recommend anyone who is pregnant to stay at this hotel. Plus there were robberies (money stolen) from the rooms so no security and no trust with this hotel.
Being the first time I've ever visited Tunisia I cant say ill be in a rush back. Overall the hotel was fine, rooms and pool area were ok. I visited with 2 friends, all aged 22. After being in the hotel for about an hour we were already being (aggressively) bombarded with requests and information and prices on things we hadn't shown interest in. Spa treatments, massages, boat trips, camel rides, horse rides, henna tattoo, the list goes on. And it was the same outside the hotel, constant hassle about things we should buy and spend money on. A warning to anyone visiting the local shops/market in Sousse, beware of anyone approaching you as you get out of your taxi claiming to be a chef at your hotel or claiming to work there. After making you trust them and feel comfortable with them, telling you the best shops to go to and explaining the different culture to you, helping you bargain in shops and get prices down, he will then demand your money for helping you. Also the shops he has taken you into are his friends and he doesn't work in your hotel and never has. Be aware of anyone who tries to befriend you, there is an ulterior motive! The residence building away from the main part of the hotel was nice but no wifi available only in main reception. Food was very average not much choices or difference between nights. Walled the lifeguard and the young male waiter are the nicest people we met on the entire trip and are a credit to the hotel and they should look at employing more staff like that. I've been to other countries before where you may get some hassle of people trying to sell you things but never to this extent. When going on holiday you want to be able to relax and enjoy yourself but they make it impossible to do so. On the last morning from walking to the residence building to reception there were some local men standing outside the 'La Fouquet Lounge', after noticing me they instantly tried to receive my attention by making kissing sounds and other strange sounds and then proceeding to ask me for a cigarette. It seems 'can i have' is the only thing everyone in this area knows how to say in English. This was at 7am and if you cant even feel comfortable in your hotel then where can you!? I would say to anyone visiting this area of Tunisia to book an all inclusive high star rating hotel and not leave it unless you want to constantly be conned into spending your money.
