Stayed in Royal Crown for 7 days and the service level was good. The staff were warm and genuine. We were delayed at the airport as our luggage went missing and we had to file a report but our hotel van driver was still smiling when we came out and that cooled my frustration. Once we got to the hotel, it was extremely soothing to have a cold drink and chilled towel. They also surprised us with a small cake for our birthday! The staff was helpful in assisting us to repeatedly call (with our reminders) the airport to enquire about our luggage. Our luggage arrived at 10.30pm, TG! Our room was a corner with two balconies which was great for evening people watching and smokes. Housekeeping was good and the room was always cleaned by the time we got back from our tours and walks. The air cond worked well in the room especially after coming back from our tours at Angkor Wat and the Floating Village. The weather was extremely hot and humid. The Front Office staff arranged our tour to Angkor Wat and we selected a tuk-tuk and an English speaking guide. It was a bit expensive as everything was in USD. Had we known earlier we would have walked a bit to some of the outside tour agencies around the Night Markets area and booked our Angkor Wat tours there. But our guide Ray was knowledgeable and took good care of us around Angkor Wat and our tuk-tuk driver Sovieth was very charming. Overall, the hotel was comfortable and the service level good plus its location is near to the night attractions without the din.
We stayed 5 days and did local tours from the hotel as a base. Great location! Walking distance to local areas of interest and easy motorised access to the airport and the temples. The staff are friendly. They are willing but tourism is still developing in Cambodia and the attention to detail that could be expected in some countries with more established hospitality training norms is still missing. The building has some old world charm and the rooms are quite large for the category. Everything worked. The rooms are relatively quiet (compared to the party area of town) and comfortable. The breakfast is in a good sized dining room and the selectin was not extensive but quite adequate. There are 2 pool areas which is needed at peak times in the evening. If English is your only language you can expect some difficulty - misunderstandings in ordering a drink or directions can be expected. A small store across the road and a Hard Rock 200mtrs away for some good music in the evenings on the way to Pub Street.
Just back in Australia after 7 nights in Siem Reap at the Royal Crown. This was our first trip to Asia as a couple and I couldn't think of a better value place to stay: The staff were wonderful and so friendly. The pool was a welcome escape from the heat and well maintained. I would certainly recommend a stay at the Royal Crown.
Location: 5' walk to the night market and the (in)famous "pub street" - depending on what you look for - but without the noise. And about 6km to Angkor vat that is 20' early morning by tuktuk or little bit less by car. Service: very good as the staff is attentive. I would recommend Mr. Lam who was our "dedicated" tuktuk driver who picked us up at the airport and showed us around the temples with kind attention, patience and experience. And he speaks very well English, so thanks to him, our 3 days there have been very smooth. Quality: for quite a reasonable price even for Siem Reap, we had what can be expected from a good hotel i.e. a large air conditioned room with a comfortable bed, clean bathroom, 2 small pools but enough to cool off from the heat after the temples visits, free wifi (it works better when close to or on the street...) etc... All in all, a very good place if you look for a friendly, practical and reasonably priced hotel to visit temples.
A very nice hotel, clean, friendly staff, great on-site massage spa, restaurant and the wifi is awesome. We would definitely stay here again. It is cheap pricing but not a cheap dungie hotel. 2 minute walk to HardRock cafe for nightly live music, 4 minute walk to street markets and famous Pub Street (great food and drinks is there). I would definitely stay here again! (The main 'hotel strip' is not central, you will have to tuktuk everywhere from that area of town)
This hotel was excellent in every way--room,staff,facilities and location. Above all, my strongest memory will be the friendliness of the staff, performing the simplest of tasks with a ready smile. Superb value.
Perfect location and the best staff at Siem Reap, our Favorite staff member was Daro Siv at the reception lobby, he was very welcoming and helpful, but everybody else was wonderful as well. Free pickup at the airport, good breakfast included, comfortable rooms with safe included and great touring recommendation. If you have a chance go to the spa, the massages were amazing.
There were mosquitoes in the room, centipede in the bathtub. On the final day of checkout, we had an early flight - we came down for breakfast at 5.50am, and told them we needed to leave early, and are ok with whatever was ready - they refused to let us in (even though everything was pretty much laid out). When we knocked finally at 6.00am, staff in the cafeteria gave as that look of "why are you so desperate". We requested for a small box to pack our breakfast - they actually refused !!!. By the way, the supposedly free wifi didn't work inside our room - had to go outside to get connectivity. Bad attitude, bad rooms, poor wifi and bad service - No brainer, never go there.
Pros: perfect location, reasonable price, good staff and clean rooms. Free airport transfer is good, otherwise this would cost you 5 dollar. You may want to give this money as a tip some of the friendly staff instead.. Cons:cleaning staff only folded the used bathrobes and quilts, they did not replaced them during 3 days stay. Wi-Fi was terrible in the room, but works well in the lobby...
We stayed 7 nights at the Royal Crown and can recommend it for everything except the breakfast selection! They have a very selected breakfast, but you will find something to eat...!! The rooms are a great size and the cleanliness fantastic. All the staff are friendly and greet you in good english. I recommend this hotel and will stay here again as Pub Street, Old Market, Art Market, Restaurants and shops are just a 5 min walk away. Its so convenient, you don't need to hire tuk-tuks you can walk everywhere here. If you are a spirit drinker !! The eighth wonder of the world is across the rd!! Its called the Angkor mini market and you can get Scotch from $8 USD!!! We were in heaven!!! Another tip, if you love a Long Island Ice Tea..... Then Get Mr.B.Phal at the Royal Crown to make one for you! He makes the best in Siem Reap. He a really lovely young man with a bright future and we thank you Bunthoeun for looking after us!!! We will return to the Royal Crown, great price, Fantastic location.
