I have stayed at this Novotel many times. Being an Accor Platinum member I tend to stay at Accor's properties whenever I could. It's surprised to see there are so few selections of Accor properties in the huge city of Shenzhen. There are basically two and the other one is a bit out of my way. Location wise, it is pretty easy to get to. Just a few minutes walk from the metro stations. The KK mall is just opposite to the hotel and there are a few places to eat inside there however the choices aren't big. Rooms are always nice and clean. It is in the older style decor, beige furnishing. It is pleasant and comfortable. However if you were a platinum card holder please do not expect too much. These days even when I stay at the Ibis they acknowledge my status and offer me a free upgrade whenever possible and welcome drinks. Sometimes even a letter or fruit platter to welcome me. Having stayed at this Novotel at least 6-7 times. I was never offered anything but the room upgrade maybe once or twice. Status recognition almost non existent here. Nonetheless, it's not a bad place to stay don't get me wrong. It's reasonably priced, clean and convenient.
I had a very pleasant stay at Novotel Shenzhen, the hotel provided the best mattress and the bed is huge and comfortable. I stayed in Novotel a few times in the past, the pool is small but nobody swims there. I had never eaten in the hotel for lunch or dinner, so cannot comment on its food. It is close to the oldest mall in Shenzhen, not much food choice in this mall though. Through the mall, you can reach the metro. In the summer time, is good that I can walk through the mall to reach the hotel, when there is air conditioner.
Hotel is as average as all novotel properties I have visited so far. It is very much approachable from Shenzhen metro line 1 (grand theater) and line 9 (hongling south). Line 9 is just few steps walk away from the hotel. Property is just 15 minutes drive from futain border crossing. So if are willing to cross border to Hong Kong, it is very near. Hotel entrance is back side of the road. It is a quite property very near to market and financial hub of Shenzhen. Rooms size is okay and clean. You have option for free mini bar. There was not shaving kit in the bathroom. Only few staff members know english. Over all its an average property in my view.
I booked a suite room at the 13th floor. The view was great but the room is looking a little tired. The closet is old n little cracks. Toilet not well maintain. I would suggest a hotel upgrade would be good!
I stayed there for 5 nights I was very disapointed for few reasons : - I had a corckroach in my bed - The staff speaks few english words and so it is hard to get any information - The diner buffet is the same during 5 days, no change at all I won't go back for sure
Room design of this Novotel is the same as the Novotel Taipei. I use the room upgrade certificate to a bigger room with free minbar drink, including a Coke, Sprite, orange juice and Qingdao beer. It's a good place to stay for business trip.
Excellent Manager Bruce. Thank you for your warm hospitality. I suggested one improvement that needed to be made to change the twin beds in Suite Room. I am having a hard time sleeping at night. Looking forward to nice new beds on my next stay at Novotel Watergate Shenzhen.
The hotel is ok, typical Novotel fixtures and fittings, quite comfortable and normal room size. Unfortunately it goes down hill from here! Firstly, the hotel entrance cannot be seen from the main road, it is on the right hand side coming from the metro and there is no directional signs, which is really frustrating!!! There are only a couple of staff that can speak English! When I checked in I was not given any of the Accor Gold member benefits, I had to find somebody who spoke English to get the right room! I then tried to login to the wifi, unfortunately nobody gave me the password and it took me 30 minutes to find somebody who spoke english to help me! I then asked WHY DONT YOU GIVE THE PASSWORD WHEN YOU CHECK IN!!!!!! I spend around 30 days a year in China for work and I expect this type of problem in local Chinese hotels, but not in an international Hotel like Novotel. The restaurant and breakfast are good! This was a very frustrating couple of days because the issues were small and could sooo easily have been fixed!!!!
Service are average. But no accor member benefit at all, no welcome drink, no welcome letter. Also, gym room is not opening for 24 hrs which is not match with Accor standard. For the room services, the delivery is on time but the coffee and food is not hot enough.
