Novotel Sao Paulo Jaragua4.0 out of 5.0

I stayed at the Novotel Sao Paulo Jaragua twice in the space of a week. The best things about this hotel are the central location, the breakfast, and the recently refurbished fitness centre. The worst things are the meagre amenities and abysmal check in and check-out experience. This Novotel is well below the standard I have experienced at other 4 star hotels and other Novotels. I stayed in two different rooms which were both feeling tired with worn furnishing and musty stale air. For the first stay I booked a Superior room and for the second stay I stayed in an Executive Room (although this room stunk of cigarettes even though it was a non-smoking room). Neither room contained a kettle or coffee machine and room amenities were at an absolute minimum. The most disappointing aspects of the stays were the check-in and check-out experiences. Even though I checked in online prior to arrival using the Novotel/Accor website the room keys were not ready on arrival. The first check-in took 20 minutes and check-in for the second stay took 30 minutes. This is simply not good enough and so typical of the bureaucratic processes that I’ve experienced at a number of Accor hotels in Brazil. In contrast, the previous month I had a number of stays in Europe where check in took less than one minute. This hotel needs to either stop offering online check-in or fix it’s processes so that check-in stops being so cumbersome. The online check in process also clearly states that an invoice would be emailed on the day of departure which also did not occur. I doubt that this function is even set up at this hotel. Then there were issues with the bill. The first stay was pre-paid and there were no issues. The second stay was paid at the hotel but the invoice did not match back to the booking confirmation. When I queried this I was told the difference was an optional tourism tax. I don’t know where to start with what is wrong with this? There was no mention of this tax on the booking confirmation or Accor website. The hotel provides no information about what the tax is, who collects it, or what it is used for. Then there is the absurdity of automatically charging for an optional tax. Very few people would willingly pay an optional tax. Interestingly the tax isn’t charged on a pre-paid rate but is charged on a non pre-paid rate. That just rings alarm bells. To avoid paying this extra charge I had to produce my booking confirmation and the additional charges took numerous computer keystrokes to remove. The impression I received was that I was the only guest to actually ever query these charges and I wonder how many guests unwittingly pay more than their quoted booking confirmation. This hotel needs to do several things: cross check the amount in the hotels systems to the booking confirmations issued by Accor to ensure customers are never overcharged, and either stop charging these rouge taxes, or actually quote the tax during the booking process. Check-out was also slow and sloppy for both stays. On the second stay it was incorrectly claimed a soda from the mini-bar was consumed and then I was asked to sign a form confirming that it wasn’t me who consumed the item. Again, where do I start with what is wrong with this? The hotel has made an error, and then involves the guest further because the hotel has some crazy admin process fetish. Asking a customer to sign an acknowledgment that they didn’t consume an item from the mini-bar would be totally inappropriate in many other hotels and countries and is not customer centric. The Accor Le Club loyalty benefits for Platinum members at this hotel are basically non-existent. I was offered Welcome Drink vouchers but only after asking. There was no VIP treatment. I was offered an upgrade for the second stay but not the first. It was clear that this hotel doesn't take loyalty recognition seriously and offers the absolute minimum. Overall I would not stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend it.
A nice flat in downtown São Paulo, close the subway station. I was glad to know that a host of famous guests have stayed there.Bob Kenedy, Queen Elizabeth of UK, JK and many others choosed the hotel. Although the vicinity isn't more the finest part of the city, it still shows partially the glamour of the fifties and sixties.
Good trip and hospitality in The hotel Benefity good only have a problem with check in and paymente I had pay with credit card and in the hotel have a pay one more She say you have a cancel peyment of credit card but at this moment not canceled
The staying was average until our second night when we ordered room service to have dinner in our room. We ordered it at 09:00 PM and the meal arrived at 11:30 PM. After many phone calls to the restaurant and reception, my wife decided to go down to talk to the restaurant staff and just go back to our room after the meal was ready. We requested to speak to the manager but he wan't there. This bad experience spoiled any positive experience we had with this hotel.
Excellent location close to Famiglia Mancini restaurants and very close to Anhangabaú metro station. Very good customer service. Delicious breakfast and a big variety different dishes available. Nice rooms.
This is a good property, but below par as compared to Novotel properties around the world. Room was small, without a Tea Maker, amenities were not good, the hotel is nor close to either of the airports in the city. May not be a repeat next time.
Nice hotel, good commodities. in downtown São Paulo. The hotel and the rooms are quite good. The location is good, close to the subway and many good restaurants, besides some security problems, becaus this part REPUBLICA is an old/depressed part of the city The worst part of this hotel is the incapacity of the staff to solve small problems... I had cold showers in almost everyday and they never fixed that problems (although I made several complains)
The room is ok but the services was just a nightmare. my reservation had been booked and payed by a local museum. I arrived at 7am after a long international flight and needed to wait for over 1hour as they could not find the reservation. The following day I was asked to pay for my stay. I showed them the documents I had proving that it had been already payed by the museum and they continued insisting. I had to ask the museum to call the hotel. A few days after I was again asked to pay for my stay and the museum called again to resolve the situation. On numerous occasions the card key was faulty and I needed to come all the way down again to get a new one (there are only three lifts in the building and there is a considerable amount of time wasted waiting). Finally once the same problem happened with the key , I needed to get my luggage and passport from my room, and I went down to get a new one, I was in a rush to get a national flight to another Brazilian city. I was blackmailed to paying one night and was told that the booking did not include that night. I could not wait for the museum to call again and resolve the situation as I really needed to get my flight. The cab I had pre-booked was waiting (and charging). I still had another 4 days of stay in the hotel after my trip and I asked the personal for this to be resolved upon my return in order for me not to loose my flight. They declined. I needed to wait for more than half an hour. I barely made it to the airport on time. I received no compensation nor any apologies for this situation or any of the previous ones. I will not use this hotel again and would suggest no one will.
The location is excellent and the staff are wonderful, but your wireless system needs to be properly upgraded or place 2-3 wireless router extenders on each floor for maintaining proper connections. When traveling, I have to stay connected to my clinics/nursing homes in the event of emergencies and they have to reach. Also, your online system needs to be fixed. Every time I receive your online check-in, I cannot complete it, because of an error problem in RED, it is requesting to be fifed, when there in nothing in RED shown. Also, I am unable to make my special requests, before arriving at the hotel.
