So the good part first... the common areas are beautiful... lovely large swimming pool... great access to the kamari beach, great surroundings... Now the negatives... the rooms... in dire need of upgradation..so very 80s... and the amenities... the wifi does not work in the rooms... you have to run to common areas to get connectivity... that does not make any sense in this day and age when you want to atleast put up photos on instagram or get in touch with friends at the end of the day. The breakfast is also very average. So all in all, a mixed bag and the hotel really must get its act together
First impressions were good. The hotel grounds were very clean and well presented. The pool area was kept imaculate and we never saw anything in the pool water. Breakfast was excellent for 3 star hotel, 3 or 4 egg choices, bacon and sausage, beans mushrooms, fruits, meats and cheeses pastries... it was all there and all good quality. The pool bar food was also really nice, just a little pricey. Unfortunatley our room let us down. Half the rooms appear modern aswell as how TUI advertise them. We had a room that had a hideous 4 poster bed with a dirty looking old sheet thrown over it. We woke up on our first morning to ants in the bed (this was resolved) and we could tell the bath wasn't cleaned and the floor too as we got dirty feet and felt the grime in the bath (we were there for 2 weeks) and glasses didnt get changed for the first few days. We also experienced noise from outside was a nightmare and a thumping bang every day which noone knew where it was coming from. When we raised this to reception, one man rudely said "what do you want me to do about it" Its a shame about our room as if that was better it would have improved our whole experience but based on ours we would unlikely return. Also be aware some 'sea view' rooms look as though they look straight into the pool area palm trees limiting how much sea you would actually see!
First the good. This hotel is in a fabulous location on the Kamari seafront with it own section of beach and yards away from dozens of bars and restaurants. The pool area is lovely, a large pool with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and a good pool bar and restaurant and friendly waiters. The bad has got to be the noise in the rooms. The walls must be paper thin, we could hear neighbours talking, snoring and using the bathroom. All through the night every night we were disturbed by people slamming doors and dragging furniture across the tiled floors and partying on their balcony. After 3 days we had to buy earplugs to preserve our sanity! The rooms are small with hard beds and barely any furniture. We had a very small wardrobe and 2 drawers, no chair so had to live out of a suitcase. Finally the ugly has got to be the bathroom, the worst I have seen in 40+ years of travel. It was so small the door had a slot cut into it to allow it to close past the sink. The shower was over an antiquated half bath which was so high I couldn't get in and out without my husband's help which was a problem as there wasn't room for 2 people to stand in the bathroom together. Totally unsuitable for anybody with mobility problems. Finally a warning. The hotel takes bookings from large groups. On the whole this wasn't a problem but we did have 2 particular groups (1 Russian) who were very disruptive round the pool, shouting, kicking footballs, throwing each other in etc. So all in all it wasn't the relaxing holiday we were hoping for.
Very nice hotel , staff were superb could not do enough for you , all areas including rooms were spotless , food was excellent and reasonably priced , great sized pool and plenty sunbeds , highly recommend
I had a beautiful room, but just above the Poolbar with loud music until 01.00!When I booked the room I had asked for a QUIET room!!The lady at the welcome desk was correct but not welcoming at my arrival, friendly the next morning. The man at the welvome desk in the morning of my departure was VERY unfriendly. Therefore I will not come back to this hotel.
Great hotel, only steps away from its own section of beach with sun beds and umbrellas for the use of hotel guests. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Public spaces and rooms very clean, bedrooms cleaned daily. Most rooms have balconies with room for a table and chairs. The food was excellent. The swimming pool is fabulous, one of the best we have ever used. However, it seems only a few rooms have up to date bathrooms with showers that are suited to showering and moving about in at the same time. Most bathrooms appear to have a tiny bath, only half of which is suited for standing in whilst simultaneously showering and wrestling with the shower curtain. Otherwise, the bathroom is fine, as is the rest of the hotel. One draw back was the noise made by guests returning in the early hours of every morning and then deciding to rearrange the furniture. We stayed for ten days and had interrupted sleep each night. This is not a problem of the hotel, just some people who stay there.
We stayed here for our honeymoon. The hotel itself is situated right on the beach front close to all the restaurants and a few nice bars in the area ( Irish bar was our favourite) The pool is huge and plenty of sun beds available as well as ones on the beach which you don’t have to pay for. The rooms and hotel are kept spotless , yes the shower is small but we only used the room for a shower and to sleep ( I don’t understand people who spend hours in their room when on holiday note to your diary - get a bloody life)!! We had a sea view room 115, our friends had room 29 ( much bigger in size with a smaller balcony) Breakfast is nice with both English and continental options and pool bar food was delicious. Bus stop just down the road from the hotel only 1.80 to Fira - which is well worth a visit as well as Oia and Santo wines for the amazing views. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Spent a week here in August 2018 while attending a family wedding. We found everything to our liking. Only stayed bed and breakfast but ate at the restaurant one evening and everything was lovely. Good choice at breakfast. Our room was clean at all times and nicely positioned ( although ‘balcony’ very small). Staff very friendly and more than accommodating, especially waiter/waitress service. Would definitely return.
We stayed here for a week. Great location on the beach front and probably the best pool in Kamari. Our family and kids loved the pool and the beach sun loungers. We had a sea view room (114) The rooms are very basic but clean and yes as in the other reviews the shower curtains and small shower basin isn’t ideal, definitely needs updating. Tip.. Keep the shower curtain in the tray then hardly any water on the bathroom floor! Just used the room for sleeping and a shower so didn’t spend a lot of time in it so was ideal. Breakfast was ok, a selection of continental and a few cooked bits. We had lunch at the pool side a few times and food was nice. Ate at the restaurant at the front of the hotel the first night and our food was so nice. My 2.5 year old who can be fussy loved the spaghetti in a tomato sauce. They happily did a child size portion. Free Car park at the back (or front apparently not beach side) which was ideal for our hire car. Most of the staff were very polite.. just the odd one a bit blunt and rude unfortunately. The hotel is surrounded by lovely restaurants and bars etc. Mango is not too far away along the front if you fancy a little bit of dancing. There’s a supermarket just a few mins up the road for cheap water etc. Large water was €1.50 in the hotel but €0.50 in the supermarket. And the room has a fridge so ideal for chilling the water.
We had a wonderful time at this hotel situated on the beach. The rooms were small but comfortable with large balcony doors and traditional shutters. The hotel is spotless. We had breakfast included which had an assortment of eggs, bacon, fruit, pastries, breads, etc. The pool area was beautiful and the beach area had umbrellas with lounge chairs. The beach is not soft sand but black lava rocks so it is advised to bring beach shoes. The scenery is amazing. There is a pedestrian only walkway that runs along the beach where you will find a number of restaurants. Small bakeries and mini marts are located close by as well. You are about 15 minutes by local bus to Fira and the bus stop is close by. It only costs 1.80 euros and another 1.80 to go into Oia. We enjoyed it as it is a great and cheap way to see the island. I would gladly stay here again.
