The hotel is OK and in a beautiful location. It has some tasty restaurants near by and Akrotiri town is 20 minutes walk if you don't mind climbing the hill on your return - we quite liked the walk! Access to the rest of the island is tricky and expensive so it's advisable to hire a quad bike or car. The sunset from the hotel is amazing and the restaurant is good with sensible prices. We knew Santorini is expensive but we have stayed in other hotels on the same week with higher quality amenities for lower prices, right next to Fira so we would dispute that the price of this hotel is quite steep. The reception staff were lovely and friendly and the bed was comfy and our room was cleaned every day. We had a good stay but felt a little overcharged for what we got, sadly.
The hotel staff were ok, not rude but not necessarily friendly as well. The room was average it was on ground level with the view of the parking, it was clean though. The location was't so good as we though in the beginning, too far from everything, you definitely need a car to go around the island!!! The public transportation bus stop is far to walk, from Thira with a car took us around 30' with all the traffic and to go to Oia to see the sunset (the most popular village of the island) with all the traffic took us 1 hour!!! The worst part of our stay was that we had booked it with half board food ( breakfast and dinner included). I mean the breakfast was Ok nothing special though but the WORST part was their dinner. I mean they served us whatever they wanted only 3 courses, without any choice of picking whatever you like and not even for a refill, and for example if you didn't like any food or be allergic to it then you would have to pay for it!!! The pictures of the food that they have on their site do not compare to the ones that they serve which are much worse!!!!
The hotel is in a beautiful location the view is amazing however you are quite remote so if you want to check out the island I would definitely recommend the 20 minute walk to town ( the hotel will happily call you a taxi) to hire a quad bike/car. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and very clean/well kept. Our room was also very clean however we were disappointed with the size of the room, particularly the bathroom as it was very small and didn't have a bath. We stayed on a half board basis and were happy with the food. Breakfast had a good buffet lots of variety even for a vegetarian although dinner became a little bit repetitive. All of the staff here were very friendly and helpful particularly the reception staff and we overall really enjoyed our week here :)
Spent a week at this hotel. We had eaten at the Restaurant on a previous visit to Santorini (which was excellant food!) so we knew the area And location. Fantastic view of the caldera over breakfast every morning. Plenty to choose for breakfast, clean & staff helpful. We were in room 1 at the back of the hotel overlooking the pool area, so no view of caldera but as soon as you got to door opposite to leave the caldera is in front of you, so not to far away! Room was clean (and cleaned every day!) bathroom clean. Balcony small but enough for a table and 2 chairs. We didn't really sit out there that often - too busy by pool, sea or sightseeing. When by pool there is facility to order food/drinks and snacks. The only slight downside was no kettle in room to make hot drinks. Staff here made us feel very welcome from day one. Would definitely return here .
My wife and myself visited the place for dinner. We tried lamb and squid. The lamb was so soft and tender and the squid tasted superb. We felt it was by far one of the best greek foods we had in a long time. The host was very friendly and all the staff members showed great hospitality. I would definitely recommend this place if you would like to enjoy an authentic homemade Greek cuisine with your loved ones.
We liked the location of the hotel, out of the really touristic Fira or Oia you have a full view of the island and it s just amazing for breakfast as the restaurant is in front of the panorama (I am not talking about sunset as you need to go there to understand). Just 10min drive from the hotel there are nice beaches and very good restaurants. The rooms are clean, big enough and well decorated; just what you expect for a comfortable stay in Santorini. Very good place to stay as the staff is really kind and helpful. Great value for money!
Stayed for 2 nights with family. If you are new to Santorini, the island is crescent shaped. The west side is famous for volcanic islands view from cliffs. The east side has beaches, not the best in the region. Hence most tourists come for the west side views. Oia, one of the two popular towns is on the north tip of the crescent. And is known for it's caldera view and it's unobstructed views of sunset. Caldera Romantica is on the exact opposite tip of the island. Has the same views as the overcrowded Oia but minus the hype. It beats me why would anyone stay in the overpriced Oia except if they love the crowds. I personally love solitude in places of natural beauty. Not only does the hotel have unobstructed caldera views, it's also quintessentially Santorini with pristine white color and blue frames. The staff is really helpful and the view from the all glass restaurant is awesome. The only issue which leads to a lesser rating is the small washrooms which was also stinky. The staff couldn't solve it during our stay unfortunately.
They say that all fiction can be reduced to two basic plots: "A stranger comes to town" and " A man goes on a journey." But, the “ Caldera Romantica” the coolest hotel in Caldera, Akrotiri , Santorini inspired me to write a review about it was conceived as a poem. Without doubt one of the favorite hotels I stayed during my time in Santorini, Greece! Stayed May19 to 22, travelled with my wife. We were privileged to spend three nights and four days with Mariana, most friendly and helpful receptionist ever, so lovely and great first impression of hotel and her amazing team, their service was the best I have experienced in the world and I have visited over 36 different places in 16 different countries. The view of the Caldera took my breath away from the hotel, one could see basically the whole west coast of the island, with Thira , Fira , Fira Stiffani , and Oia. Behind the hotel was a big swimming pool, with a bar. All of our food in Caldera Romantica Restaurant of high quality and beautifully presented. Christiana, the restaurant supervisor has a smiling face always and very friendly , (appreciate this!) , all of her recommendations for food were excellent! The light breakfast we were served on the resultant adjacent to the main entrance of the hotel consisted of tea or coffee, fresh fruit juice, omelets ,eggs, bread with preserves ,pastries and fruits, sausages, beckons, milk, corn flakes, etc, the table always beautifully laid with flowers, high quality everything. We were welcomed by a sunset on the evening of arrival and we watched this amazing sight every evening. The whole time we spent in Caldera Romantica was of peace, relaxation and harmony. Mariana and her team could not have done more for us ,all of their recommendations for restaurant and for car hire and recommendations for visits were perfect. Fortunately everything about the hotel was exceptional, and I don't give praise lightly. It was clean, stylish, roomy with excellent service in restaurant where we had breakfast and dinner. Food were beyond good and great value for money and service are attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I could go on but suffice it to say I was very pleased with my stay, and although short and sweet this time, I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future. All respect for Mariana, Christiana and also to the other lady whose name is not remembered by me now, who does a great job here; a true sample of excellent hospitality! Thank you everyone for making our stay as enjoyable as we look forward to visiting again.........can,t wait.
My partner and I stayed 3 days in the hotel during our first days in Santorini. We were extremely pleased with the welcoming we had. Mariana was very kind and took time to show the different activities that could be done in Santorini. The bedroom we had was very good, with a couch, fridge and closets and a mezzanine with a king size bed. The balcony gave a great view on the caldera. You could see basically the whole west coast of the island, with Thira and Oia. Behind the hotel was a big swimming pool, with a bar. Something that can be noted, there was a specific wifi network available for the swimming pool. The breakfast is VERY good and is taken in a restaurant nearby that belongs to the hotel three different menus each for 13 euros, very cheap for Santorini. In definitive, Caldera Romantica is a great and calm place, with a very friendly and dedicated staff. It is perfect if you want to enjoy calm holidays. If you want to see more and go to shops and restaurants, then be sure to rent a car or a quad, since the location is a bit remote.
We had such a pleasure to stay at this hotel!! Marianna welcomed us with such a kindness and a big smile!! The bedroom was beautiful with view on the caldera! The breakfast was also good! Thank you for everything!!
