Really a B and B . Couldn't check in till 3.00. Only served breakfast but the rooms are really spacious and well furnished. The town is not great but only 30-40 minutes from Carmel . Easy to find but then the town is pretty small
My wife and I stayed there on May 5,6 and we enjoyed every minute of the stay. They were terrific to make it a wonderful time. The inn was close to the beach and everything else in this great location.
I've been in hotels for over 17 years in management at five star properties. So my expectations are very high with any property that I stay at. My husband and I selected this property which is five minutes walk to the cutest town at Capitola. Once you walk into the doors chandelier's, fireplaces, beautiful outdoor patio area fountains, cocktail service in the afternoon snacks, served all day. I can say probably the best breakfast served included in your rate either in your room, at Your suggested time of eggs Benedict, French toast, frittata soufflés,. We stayed at the Paris Suite which is just gorgeous. Double fireplace, marble floors just exquisite. My point is that the staff could not have been any more hospitable and kind. I would stay at any of their six other properties which is inns on the beach.com they have four properties in Carmel and Santa Cruz, Fabulous stay!
We have stayed here so many times that I think we have stayed in all but 1 or 2 of the rooms. WE LOVE IT. Breakfasts are amazing!! Beds are super comfy!! You can walk to the beach and down town area and also walk over to Gayle's (one of our favorite meal spots). Inn at Depot Hill is one of the BEST places in Capitola. HIGHLY recommend it!
A lot of thought has been put into this B&B. I am not generally a B&B kind of gal, preferring anonymity (I'm not a celeb, I just like to go unnoticed... kind of a happy loner!). But, I really enjoyed my two nights here and would return again with my hubby... he would be very comfortable here, as well. I stayed in the Stratford-on-Avon room, which was nicely decorated and had a very comfortable huge window seat where I spent several hours reading and also enjoying my morning coffee. Love that they have a small Keurig Maker, as I brought along my favorite K-cups, just in case. They bed was very comfortable, and that opinion comes from a very picky bed person! A bad bed is a deal-breaker for me and I will speak up about it. (I get rather incensed when expected to pay for a miserable nights sleep!). My room was one of the smallest, and I booked at the last minute so it was the only available, but I had an opportunity to see several others on Sunday, after everybody else had checked out, and they were cleaning... the Capitola room, the Library and the Railroad Baron rooms were gorgeous! There is a very nice outdoor patio with comfy furniture and a lovely and large water feature. I am not exactly a breakfast person, so I did not take part in the complimentary breakfast, but, I have to say it smelled good! I did observe that there is not a choice for breakfast, just one offering... it seems to me that the hotel is large enough to warrant offering more than one choice? Loved the touch of fresh roses in my room, too! Wanted to take them with me! Service was excellent, and very friendly. Be aware that there is not an elevator, and luggage will have to be schlepped up the stairs for those on the second floor. They do offer to help with your bag, but it seems silly to make a someone smaller than me carry my bag! Not a big deal, however... just a tip to pass on. Ladies of the Inn at Depot Hill... thank you for a lovely weekend!
Everything was really excellent. Clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, spacious room. Friendly staff. A real personal full breakfast. The guestbook in our room was filled with compliments about anniversary stays with dinner at the Shadowbrook.
We came to town for one nite to go to swim wear shop, gayles, and walk the beach. This was an awesome b&b great breakfast even though initially sent wrong. Fixed quickly and great. Beautiful, clean, calm, great fireplace we will return. So relaxing. Only warning stairs. I have recent knee replacement so only issue just went up once
Great place, very nice quite place. Very historical and we'll kept hotel. Breakfast was very good and filling First time staying but will definitely be back. Mandy was great host. Close walking distance to beach, shopping and great dining choices.
My husband and I just spent a lovely time at the Inn at Depot Hill this past weekend. We stayed in the Delft Room which was absolutely gorgeous and spacious, with a sitting room with fireplace, bedroom, large bathroom, and a private patio with a hot tub. The bed and pillows were exquisitely comfy as feather beds and pillows are. The attention to detail is extraordinary and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. A wonderful breakfast is prepared for you and is delivered to your room (if you choose) or you can have it in the shared dining room. We opted to have ours in our room and the presentation was just perfect, as well as, delicious. Every evening they provide hors d' oeuvres, wine, and sweets in the main area, which you can enjoy in the common room or your own room. The staff will assist with dinner reservations (if you choose) and we dined at the historic Shadowbrook, which was an experience in itself and not to be missed if possible. The food, service and ambience are unparalleled and well worth the trip. Overall our entire stay was just magical and we can't wait to come back and do it all over again.
We spent two relaxing nights here recently, and were treated like royalty. This is a wonderful honeymoon or anniversary destination. You can walk around hilly Capitola easily and get down to the wharf and beach in just minutes. The most impressive part of this B&B is the level of service and the food, which was abundant and delicious. We had our breakfast at a small table in the common room, which was good because there wan't much of a table in our room. The rooms were very clean. The bathroom was marble and enormous. We stayed in Sissinghurst, which is next to the kitchen on the first floor. There was a bit of noise in the early morning. We had a private patio and spa. There are many fine restaurants, including informal Gayle's deli and bakery and the infamous Shadowbrook. (We went for an early Monday dinner special at Shadowbrook, burgers and a drink for the bargain price of $14.99 each. There are different dining rooms and you don't have to spend a fortune to eat there.) If you are ambulatory, you can easily walk to both of these restaurants. There is a free shuttle to Shadowbrook. Capitola is a popular tourist destination with boutiques and galleries, and I imagine it gets crazy in the summer, but we were there off season and it was quiet and lovely.
