Pet friendly facility with a $50 surcharge. Very nice ambiance and friendly staff.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY! We will definitely go back again!

Everything is good but hotel does show its age regardless of extensive renovation the owner/company did. Would have been better if they had build it from scratch.

The clerk said he would call/text me when my room was ready—-I never heard from him. I had to find things to do to keep busy for a few hours, then finally I just called, and a different clerk said, yeah..your rooms been ready. So I missed out on a good chunk of my stay. By the time I checked in, it,was too cold for the pool. Disappointed in such a nice hotel.

Room not ready at check-in and only made available after repeated pestering by the staff who were at best indifferent. Pool area was nice.

Great place to stay near everything and clean. Beautiful accommodation for the family!

I think calling my room a " View Room" was a bit of a stretch. Overlooking a parking lot and a court house is not my idea of a view. Other than that my only complaint would be that I was in a room next to the stairway, and you'd be surprised how many people decide to bang out a little tune with their wedding ring against the rod iron staircase. By tune I don't mean tap tap, but actually banging out a rhythm.

The hotel was decorated beautifully although the cabinetry in the room had seen better days. The food was expensive, but decent. The pool was nice for the kids, 9ft at one end but, the pool area was extremely dirty. French fries and other food reminants all over. It stayed that way the 4 days we went to the pool. It was kind of gross.

The only bad thing with this place is the bed. The bed felt worn and could feels the springs. Ended waking up with our backs super sore and never got any sleep! Would recommend once the beds are replaced!

All kinds of hipster of the moment things - unfinished wood paneling, iPod docks, good quality bath products, cotton instead of polyester bedding. Didn't go to the bar/restaurant but it had a good look. The staff kind go bugged me - When I asked about parking they replied "Yes, you have parking. I give you a permit and you put it in your car window, done. Easy." But...then i asked if there was a charge (I don't know why I was suspicious) and he said, Yes, there was a $10 charge. I thought that was kind of deceptive for him not to have offered that info when we asked what the deal with parking was. Same kind of answer for this question "Is there breakfast?" Answer: "Yes, our chilequiles are renowned." My husband took that as breakfast being included. he should have just said yes, we have a restaurant and not led us to believe breakfast was included. Room service tray from previous occupant outiside for hours and hours until we asked for it to be removed. The only way to get natural light in the room was to open the floor to ceiling window curtains that led to the walkway - so light or privacy - not both. Overall it was nice, comfortable, contemporary but actually nothing all that special - just a hip traditional middle brow hotel. Probably better than much of what is around.

I've been visiting Santa Cruz for years to see family an I must say the paradox hotel was absolutely over the board amazing words can't explain it kinda one of those see for urself places deff 5 start rating an more

Then we got locked out before our late checkout time

beautiful, artistic, modern, pleasing. staff from front desk to dining room were wonderful: friendly, knowledgeable, more than willing to find out if they didn't know answer. we have not had such great service before in a very long time.

Great hotel with friendly staff. Room had a nice king size bed but was room itself was very small. My wife and I were always moving out of each others way to get to and from bathroom etc. Bed was very worn out and uncomfortable but the staff told me at checkout they were in the process of upgrading the beds. Despite the negatives I mention, I would stay there again. The pool area is very nice, complete with hot tub, cabanas, outside bar with seating area and plenty of lounge chairs. Restaurant staff and service were great. Everything was clean and staff made you feel important.

The rooms were nice, but the restaurant was over priced and not great for the price. Potatoes at breakfast were very very spicy with no warning.

The Paradox has become a favorite hotel for family and me. It is high quality but still within price range. The pool and hot tub area is a treat as is the in -hotel restaurant.

This is a well maintained property with a friendly service-oriented staff.

Great hotel. Great location and friendly not over the top staff. It was a bit too expensive for the average rooms and amenities.

Nice pool and outside area. The restaurant on site is very good and the bar staff and everyone working at the hotel are very friendly. Great happy hour with $5 drinks and appetizers. Conveniently located away from the madness of the beach/boardwalk. Easy walk to downtown. Close to the freeway for easy access to the property. I always stay here when in Santa Cruz and I am there often as my daughter is a student at UC Santa Cruz.

Great experience at the hotel. Definitely we will return
