Hotel Record is a hidden gem! We loved our three day stay here while visiting San Sebastián. The location is convenient to walk to the beach and the Old Town. There were many good restaurants nearby in the Gros neighborhood as well. Hotel Record was originally a grand home. Our room (115) was spacious and sparkling clean with a very nice balcony. The bathroom was a little tight, but it had a full size bathtub and hair dryer with a 110 plug. We had plenty of hot water and the noise mentioned in other reviews was not an issue. The very best part of Hotel Record was the warm hospitality. Marien and Leire, who worked the front desk, greeted us warmly each time we returned as if we were family. Leire was a wealth of information about the area and helped plan our days in San Sebastián. She explained the bus transportation to Hondarribia, gave us coupons for discounts, and provided restaurant suggestions. The personal attention we received warmed our hearts and made us want to return. There is a small parking area at Hotel Record which was very helpful since we drove from Barcelona. I would not hesitate to recommend Hotel Record.
Picked this hotel initially because I needed to have a place with parking as I was doing a road trip thru Northern Spain. Turns out it was a great place to stay. Nice and accommodating staff and clean/spacious room. Easy and convenient walk to all the beaches and old town. My only problem is that I wasn't aware that breakfast wasn't included in price. Loved it here and would stay again.
This is a fairly simple hotel in a lovely old house in a good location about 15 minutes walk from the old town and only five into the trendy but less touristy Gros. The room we had was spotlessly clean, with a comfortable bed and good linen. Wifi worked perfectly. Bathroom is simple but all worked, again sparkling clean. As some have pointed out the walls are a bit thin but thankfully the only screaming that we had to put up with that of a small baby! Staff were friendly and helpful. For ourselves we particularly appreciated that we could have our small dog in the room (only €10 extra) and it had secure off road parking. We were also allowed to leave our car until well after check out on our last day. This is a fairly basic but clean and very good value hotel in a convenient part of San Sebastián. Recommended.
A good value hotel, within walking distance of the old town and the beach. Friendly staff, good w-fi and free parking( the car park is quite small, so practice your 3 point turns before hand). Good for dog owners, as they even give you poo bags and doggy treats .
Clean, quiet hotel towards the east of the city, beyond the film institute and surfers beach. Friendly and helpful staff. About 3 mins from beach, and 15mins from Old Town Pintxos. Larger than most hotel rooms in San Seb, it’s good base to explore. Being on the more residential side, it’s bars, restaurants and bodegas are frequented by locals and less tourists. Definitely for those in the know, and for couples, rather than the cramp penziones more centrally located
The hotel is in San Sebastian's Gros district, with its many bars and eateries, it is also a few minutes walk to the old town with all its attractions and views. The hotel has very friendly staff to check you in and out, advise on the local sights and facilities, and to serve a simple but adequate breakfast in the morning. The reception is manned 24/7. Our room was adequately sized with a comfortable bed, and a desk and chair. The bathroom was nicely appointed except for a shortage of hanging space for towels etc. Our only concern was that there seems insufficient hot water to shower all the hotel guests, so it's better to get in early. Otherwise it is very good. Note that the hotel is on the edge of a residential district at the eastern edge of the city, the benefits are the quiet nights, the negative being a lack of view. In summary, a nice hotel for a few days in San Sebastian.
This is a very basic hotel run by great staff, and in what we felt was a great location--not in the middle of the tourist-heavy Parte Vieja of San Sebastien, but a bit away in a real neighborhood, yet within walking distance of all you might want to see. Our room was small and right on the parking lot, and smelled heavily of disinfectant when we walked in. But the smell left after a few hours of airing, and despite the parking lot the night was quiet. The decor was simple but pleasant, and we got a good discount on it, so it worked for our purposes.
Short walk to beach and old town. Linen was clean and the beds comfortable. Staff were really friendly and also accommodated free parking for our small campervan. For a 1 star hotel it was really good.
The builder needs to be jailed. This is a relatively new building. The floors of the bed rooms creak. Also the stairs. There is a foul fishy type smell that seems to come up from the shower. The walls are paper thin. All sounds of showers and toilets flushing etc. are audible. Our room had a lovely balcony over looking the street. Twin beds are comfortable. Room was spacious. A few hundred meters from beach. A km walk to the old quarter for busy atmosphere. Staff are pleasant. We had help from a lady with parking our car that was appreciated. A loud barking dog started a 8.30 am a few doors up didn't help . No fridge or kettle! Breakfast €4.50
it was our first stop on our motorcycle trip of Northern Spain, a few minutes from the beach and the town. The staff were so friendly and helpful, one girl could not help us enough maps places to eat her English was very good compared with our very poor Spanish. The room was very nice and comfortable ok bathroom, breakfast was very plentiful just what we wanted in a small hotel, would use this hotel again no problem
