"The view from the yurt was quite an experience. It was also pretty cold at night, hot during the day if you don't use the shades/sides properly--or even if you do. The structure itself was pretty makeshift, and was not airtight/bug tight like a traditional yurt would be. Also the bed was like a punishment. It could really use a foam pad on top and at least one more of the sad, flat pillows per person. Why skimp on those? This experience is spartan enough. Also: bring earplugs and perhaps a noise machine, the barking dogs at night are pretty disruptive. The property did have hot water in the showers, near the pit toilets (only 2 toilets for a place with 12 person capacity). These were a healthy distance from all of the accommodations and you'll need to light your own way after 10pm. Alice, the host was very pleasant and made sure we had a nice, cheap breakfast provided each day. There is also a functional kitchen on site and massages on offer. If you have any mobility issues, this place is a real struggle. At least 120 steps from the street to our yurt, with a six story climb. Property is likely muddy during rainy season, there was very little by way of erosion control at present. It is a newer property, so I'm hopeful they'll continue to improve. Quick tuk-tuk ride to "downtown" and there is parking on site. Very little parking in San Marcos though, other than the big church."
