This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at and I work in travel. It was impeccable service, amenities, cleanliness, service, etc... The food was amazing and I really can't get over the rooms, views and amazing staff! I can't wait to come back!
I travel to this Hotel with our group of 60 people from my company VIP trip. I was expecting to have chaotic atmosphere and stress with such a large group travel together. However, I was WRONG. This is one of the most relaxing vacation I ever have had in years. From the moment we check-in and welcome with delicious popsicle to the refreshing cocktail in sand bar. And the beautiful ocean view when you first walk into the front desk is priceless. I was impress by the room and the ocean view from the bedroom. The bathroom was lovely with outdoor shower and spacious. Our group had welcome banquet event on the beach and the food was amazing. Our group really enjoy all the food that we have at every event. The banquet chef is so accommodating by personally make the food for our friends that has special dietary needs. Myself and couple of friends had dinner in Coa one night and the wait staffs were very attentive to our needs. Christian was our server which he did great. Natalia was so kind for bringing us extra bread. By the way, the bread and homemade butter here were to die for. Jonathan offered us samples of his wine collection and we did enjoy the wine and the food in Coa very much. The steak from wood-fire oven was very delicious. Highlight of that night was the executive chef Suti visited our table which we did enjoy conversation with him. Seeing him talk with many tables in the restaurant with such passion and great personality. This set apart the dining experience from anywhere I have been to. Really refreshing to see the chef in the dining room with guests caring about his food. I am planing to comeback with my family for the holiday this year. We love your beautiful hotel, the genuine people, and the amazing food. This is a perfect place to recharge. For those of you who still on the fence. Just come and experience this. Come visit Puerto Rico.
This is a hard review to write. First, let me start with the positive because it is certainly worth boasting. The property is absolutely stunning! We were so beautifully welcomed at check in and beyond thrilled with the butler service. The room was immaculate and loved all aspects of the property grounds. Service at the pool was polite but required a bit of reminding and self initiating to get service. However, both libations and food was great including dining and service at several restaurants on the property. Now to the not so good. Concierge service was helpful in planning our trip and assisting with a booking a diving excursion for part of my party. However, at check out my bill reflected double the cost of what I had quoted. After pursuing the extra expenses, the concierge was apologetic yet denied ownership of the issue. (As a side, I was quickly in route to airport so was unable to pull up our email exchange for clarification.) The manager at the front desk did acknowledge my frustration and offered some compensation. The real issue came after I departed the property when I ascertained my email quote from the concierge. I called the property and asked for someone to return my call but they did not do so. Two days later I sent an email to the concierge I had worked with in addition to the contact email listed on the website. Now almost one week later, I have still not heard from anyone. The cost of this property is exorbitant, so it may seem unnecessary for them to follow up regarding a few hundred dollars. I am not so much about being monetarily compensated more but rather would just like acknowledgement that the concierge quote was not only inaccurate but also misleading. The intent would be to prevent this in the future. With all this said, if you have the $$$, it is money well spent but be careful to watch for inaccurate quotes and charges. I spent way more than I probably should have so frustrated with how this was handled.
My wife and I enjoyed three fabulous nights at this wonderful resort. We have been to many of the top resorts in Costa Rica, T&C, Mexico, Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Bahamas, etc., but the Ritz Dorado is our new favorite. The food was outstanding, our room with a plunge pool on East Beach was amazing and the spa is as good as it gets for relaxation, ambiance and tranquility. The architecture and grounds are so amazing and you get this blended influence of the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean. What is really special about the resort are the mostly local people who work there. The staff takes great pride in working at the resort and in their island as well. Obviously the people of Puerto Rico have endured a lot since the hurricane hit, but they are so warm, friendly and engaging and truly happy you are visiting. They took the time to get to know you and delivered great service while doing so. The hotel is big on delivering exceptional "experiences" for whatever you are doing be it dining, the spa, beach lounging, etc. What a great concept and we really did have a great experience in all ways. Too many people to mention all by name but Nester, Jose and Julio are just some of the great folks. Highly recommend this resort. Can't wait to come back and be in a beach chair eating the unbelievable fish tacos with a cold beer looking out at the ocean.
Amazing resort/ excellent welcoming crew / excellent room service and cleaning crew /excellent personal concierge Gabriel / excellent pool side service / spotty ehh reception desk service following the duration of stay/the kite surfing lessons Andy was a great teacher/please carry local cuisine and local fruits that are seasonal on resort from the island. Papaya guava mangoes would have made it more enjoyable.
My husband and I just came home from our 5 day honeymoon at Dorado Beach. Where to begin! From the time we pulled in, we were blown away. The lush greenery surrounding the entrance makes you feel like you've been transported to a tropical oasis. The expansive ocean view you're greeted with when you check in is absolutely breathtaking. We couldn't get over how beautiful it was! (And note, we were there when it was pretty grey and rainy for most of the week!) We stayed in a private plunge king room on the east beach and would HIGHLY recommend this! You still have amazing ocean views but much more privacy than is afforded on the west beach. The plunge pool was such a fun indulgence -- a tad chilly, but I think if we had asked, they would have raised the temperature for us! We also loved the outdoor shower, soaking tub, and insanely comfortable king bed. Housekeeping and turn down service came reliably each day. We ate almost exclusively on site. Every night, we were amazed by the quality of food offered! We knew it was going to be expensive, but believed for the convenience of not having to leave the resort, quality of food, and quality of service, it was worth it. When we weren't in our own private plunge pool or soaking tub, we were reading on the beach. We had excellent service here -- we were brought a bucket filled with chilled water bottles, sunscreen, ice, and a menu. Our server came often enough to keep us well-fed but not so often we were annoyed at the interruption. We also greatly enjoyed riding our bikes (covered in your daily resort fee!) around the resort and trail. Because it was our honeymoon, we decided to indulge at the spa. We each got a 90min thai treehouse massage. Whoa. Being in the treehouse is quite a unique experience, as you're surrounded by the sounds from the tropics around you. It's an experience that forces you to be mindful, in the best way possible. If you book a massage, make sure to go early so you can take full advantage of the private spa area that includes a warm and cold plunge pool, steam room, and relaxation room! We were consistently impressed with the service everywhere, from the bellmen to the concierge, beach-staff, restaurants, spa, and especially our embajadores. Everyone was super friendly, and, impressively, remembered who we were. Although we'd made our reservations under my husband's former last name, when we informed them we were both changing our last name, they got everyone to use our new married last name when communicating with us instead! We loved every minute of our stay and are so sad to have returned home to reality. This was such an indulgent treat, and a wonderful way to celebrate our honeymoon!!
Beautiful, clear blue beach - not crowded and everything you need - water/towels/sunscreen/drinks/food. Lovely pool (many kids there) and great coffee/snacks at La Cocina including aFarmer's Market on Sunday with local vegetables. Super hospitable staff throughout the reserve - a special shout out to Victor on the beach - always smiling, gracious, friendly while working hard in the hot sun! Wish I were back there now...
I lived in Dorado Beach as a child and wanted to go back to show my family that part of the island. It was very different but the essence was still the same. We enjoyed three fabulous nights at the amazing Dorado Beach Ritz Carlton Reserve. We arranged for private transportation to and from the airport, was greeted by the very helpful embajadora Raysa and were thrilled to see our wonderful room with an ocean view (balcony), soaking tub and outdoor shower. The service at this resort is impeccable ~ we wanted for nothing and all the staff were very good at anticipating for our needs. We received daily texts from Yeisha asking if we needed anything. It was very easy to make reservations, arrange bikes and ask general questions, all via texts. Bike riding around the expansive property was a lot of fun especially when the trail went along the ocean. Coa for breakfast is a must and our favorite for dinner is Melao. We hope to get back for another visit soon.
We visited the Dorado in 2013 just a few months after it opened. We were wowed then but for some reason did not return as we got busy. When the hurricanes happened I feared I would not have the chance to return and the property might not open again. Thrilled to report that we just spent a long weekend there. The property has been fully restored to its original beauty. The plantings are amazing and the architecture still takes your breath away. On the downside the service is spotty. I ordered lunch on the beach one day and it took a full hour to get my drink and then the food even longer?! Our room one day was not made up until the late afternoon when we had requested an 11am service. Also I miss the Jose Andre restaurant. The food is just ok at Encanto, Coa and Omakase. Still the team there tries very hard and is nothing but friendly. Incredible place.
I have to say, from the time you're picked up to the time you leave, this place is VERY special. The service is amongst the best experienced at a hotel/resort. Very caring people and there appears to be a special concierge/backup assigned to each room. Very impressive. The facility is beautiful and like all "reserve properties" is about nature-natural. I think we will have to come backhere as it's very convenient to u.s. mainland and about a 40 minute drive from the airport. Pools are gorgeous (2 of them to choose from), plus every room appears to have a beach view. we got "lucky" with a plunge pool which added to the ambience-I used it daily. The outdoor shower was really cool, the bathroom simply amazing. Very nice bedding and living space. Food appeared pricey, but not overpriced for quality in my opinion. Pictures online were true to form. WE tried all the restaurants. Coa impressive wine list/all about meats. Sushi restaurant was good (but spoiled living in Tokyo). A cool place at the club you can get your own wines, drinks, snacks and bring to the room (and great sorbets/gelato). Besides the resort itself, I would say the service is what adds magic here. Just a note: though you book through marriott- this property sadly does not give points/nights, nor do they accept points for rooms (I think this would make this the bomb and although they probably do not need to do such, it sure would make it nice for bonvoy members).
