Situated in the heart of Old San Antonio, the Casa Navarro State Historic Park features the original housing complex of Texas patriot and signatory to the Texas Declaration of Independence, Jose Navarro. The San Antonio Missions National Park preserves four of the five late 17th- and early 18th-century Spanish colonial frontier missions.
River Walk
Boasting cypress-lined pathways, lush landscaping and arched stone bridges, the 2.5-mile-long River Walk is a verdant oasis along the shore of the San Antonio River. In operation since 1881, the renowned Buckhorn Saloon and MuseumOpens in a new window celebrates San Antonio's Wild West past. Relax amidst the colorful flora and aromas of the San Antonio Botanical and Japanese Tea Gardens.
Amusement parks
Amazing animal shows, thrilling rides and midway-style games can be found at the SeaWorld and Six Flags amusement parks. Historic rides are available at Kiddie Park, which is America's oldest children's amusement park. Other top attractions include the San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium and the 750-foot-tall Tower of Americas, which features awesome 360-degree panoramic views of the city skyline and surrounding countryside.

At the Tejas Rodeo, you will enjoy the excitement of watching bona fide cowboys and cowgirls in action as they compete in events such as barrel racing, calf roping and bull riding. In addition to museum exhibits, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center sponsors a variety of festivals and celebrations that focus on the contributions of Chicano and Native Americans, such as the San Antonio CineFestival. Other major celebrations and events held throughout the year include the music, dancing, food and exhibits of Fiesta San Antonio, Fiesta Noche del Rio, Juneteenth, Oktoberfest and Dia de los Muertos. In addition to various professional sporting events, San Antonio serves as the host city for the annual college football Alamo Bowl each January.
Best time to visit
With an average daily temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit, November to April is the most comfortable time to visit San Antonio. Guests arriving during the summer, the most popular time to explore the city, should prepare for the legendary south Texas heat and humidity.
Travel information
Served by more than 30 domestic and international air carriers, San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is situated less than 10 miles from downtown, where you will find plenty of San Antonio hotels. The Amtrak station is located downtown near the convention center.
