Where do I begin!? First of all we booked two rooms for the Silver oaks-heritage hotel. One was a family apartment with a kitchen and the other was a one bedroom for a couple. When we arrived at the heritage to check in, the first clerk passed us off after five minutes. Then the manager waited on us but he kept going to the back room. Every time I asked what was wrong I was not answered. After 30-40 minutes I demanded to know what the confusion was about, So finally the manager says we have to go to their sister hotel called Geyserland. We thoroughly told him that this was not what we had booked nor wanted. He assured me that this was an upgrade. When we got to the other hotel Geyserland, it was a hot mess! The first room they gave the couple, the room was not even cleaned. The beds were stripped and the linens were still on the floor. When we went back to the front desk she apologized and gave us another key and this time she started to walk with us to the new room, and as she was walking she then casually mentions oh by the way there was a party last night in the room and the bathroom mirror is cracked and broken. The mirror was the least of this room's problem, as there was mold everywhere--behind the doors, around the sink, around the tub, around the showerhead and along the back sliding door. The desk was grimy and in need of a cleaning, the bed spreads were so thread bare that you could see through them. The showerhead was supposed to be clear and it was black with mold. There were holes in the wall with no attempt to patch, and the carpet was heavily stained, worn and frayed. This room was the most disgusting room I have ever been in and we have traveled in many places and many countries. There was clearly no attempt to clean the mold from the bathroom fixtures or bathtub. And when we woke up there were fleas in our bed. The family unit was slightly better however there was no kitchen like we paid for. (Fleas and mold was also in the family unit.) We were also not discounted for the lack of facilities that we originally booked. The internet did not work in our rooms as indicated. Both managers of both sites knew we were extremely dissatisfied but they made no attempt to assist us other then to show us what room we were staying in. We tried to book another two rooms in any other hotel but the whole town was booked up, as this is summer and peak tourist season and holiday for many in this area. So this was our only choice and I let the front desk know again how were thoroughly unsatisfied with this arrangement. I had booked the heritage hotel because it is labeled four stars with this site. This is a huge oversite by my standards. Also, the original hotel should not have made us move to the other inferior hotel and try to sell it as an upgrade for us! If Geyserland is an upgrade then I cannot imagine what the heritage is like in one of their rooms.
