I have a huge complain to make about IBIS Rotorua. First of all, 1) upon first day of check in, everything were smooth. However, we found it unbelievable to find a fly in the room. (I would understand if we were staying in a resort!) and the fly is still in the room on the second night. 2) we came back tonight, around 10pm. We couldn’t find a car park in the hotel car park. So i went in and ask the receptionist. - where can I park? He answered if the car park is full, then we can’t do anything about it. The management didn’t do anything about this issue (since there’s a concert tonight) - what’s the fastest way to solve this problem? He answered , um no way to solve this. I guess you have to find a car park yourself. But it should be quite hard before the concert finish. And he just kept telling me since the car park is free, a lot of people parked here for the concert. The management knew about this but did not do/ or maintain the car park. I don’t really care if it’s the managements problem or who else’s. We paid for the hotel and the car park should be kept for the hotel guests and with all his nonsense excuses instead of solving the problem, I really think is unacceptable. We found a car park on the road side of Novotel after another 15-20 minutes. My mum’s leg ain’t that good and had to walk the extra way back to hotel. Ok, and we got up to the room finding: 1) dirty room services plates outside of our room! (Which weren’t ours) (photo taken) 2) room service staff left the clean towel on the dirty luggage rack (photo taken) 3) the fly is still in the room (photo taken) Lastly, Wifi is SUPER slow. I can barely upload photos or even to use Facebook, Instagram or email! We paid $508 NZD for 2 nights, and I really think the service we got were totally below this amount paid. We have received such a bad and rude service from accor/ ibis. Oh and lastly, we found a paper from the staff in between our towel. (Photo taken!) this is totally unacceptable!!!
The room was clean and comfortable and included a small fridge, iron and board, kettle with team and coffee, TV. WiFi was abysmal- paid $10 for it too. Others complained and were let off the cost. They seem to know it is poor. Breakfast was chaotic. There are so many large groups trying to get breakfast it does not seem well organised and one morning we had to hunt for bowls and cutlery. The breakfast area is also close to reception making the reception area a confusion of people queuing for both breakfast and reception. It is ok for stay - just be aware of the WiFi issue and expect breakfast to be busy.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a self drive road trip in New Zealand. Being from the UK we were obviously aware of the Ibis hotel group and have stayed at their hotels in our home country. We were disappointed with this hotel in Rotorua as the staff on the Reception desk were not exactly friendly or helpful (in fact the short haired lady who appeared to be in a senior position was positively rude) and the room was basic but functional. No common areas except the breakfast room which also doubled up as the restaurant and the bar. Breakfast was very basic and there was not much choice but in fairness the service team at breakfast were great and tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Wifi was very hit and miss. We just didn’t feel that we were in any way welcome there so we would not go back. The hotel is ideally located for local bars and restaurants however.
the unit was small but very clean, there were 3 of us only 2 towels were provided, had to call for another - they were quick to drop one off. bed and selection of pillows were great - no info book about the place or sky mag so we had no idea what was on. we were road facing and the unit was quite which was always good, aircon worked great. shower pressure was good. - the food down stairs - breakfast was I tihnk 21 person which was lovely and plenty of places to sit. - dinner not so great. we waited and waited the lady at the front desk said she would be back soon, we waited, other people came down got told the same thing, we sat down and waited, she served 3 ladies that came up to the bar so we waited again (at this point we were ready to eat else where) the lady serving us was lovely and friendly, dinner so you get to read the headings no menu you have to ask and then ask again ( a selection burgers and pizzas) as there is no list on what is on or in these items, for the price it was ok. checking out we got a lovely jar of m&ms which was a lovely touch, over all we would stay here again but not eat dinner here
Ibis Rotorua was a let-down. Firstly, one of the main reasons we booked the hotel was the view of the lake as shown in pics of the Lakeview rooms. Sadly, the one we got had a side-on view. Secondly the room was really cramped and the bathroom tiny. Thirdly, the common areas were quite dirty - the entrance from the parking was downright filthy. The breakfast was very very basic. Not recommended!
Easy, clean, well managed with friendly staff. Made for a pleasant stay in the area. The hotel is close to everything and offered free parking. Also had room service and a restaurant downstairs. We would stay again :)
Check in was fast and efficient. Rooms small but clean with great beds. Would have preferred plumper pillows as pillows went flat. Not sure our thermostat worked as our room didn’t cool for our liking which is most people’s cold. The downstairs eating for breakfast and dinner were awesome. As we were restricted to inside due to storms the downstairs eating area made a great common room for the kids. The staff were super helpful and very knowledgeable about the area.
Spare time for check in and check out, do not expect more than standard. Overvalue for room only because of the location. The reception desk only one person at check out time in high season. The room nothing special.
Hotel Ibis is located close to the lake front and city centre. We got a room facing a wooded area. It was quite beautiful . the room gets nice sunshine. Comfortably furnished and quite a spacious room. Had a delectable breakfast.
We had a 3 night stay booked in Rotorua. Weather was absolutely terrible and pretty much ruined our trip here, everywhere we went we were running through the rain. Thankfully the Ibis is not in a smelly part of town! And close to shops/restaurants. Buffet breakfast average. Rooms were small but tidy and perfect for a quick stay. We spent most of the time in our room and found that it was fine with 2 dbl beds and tv. We left one night early to escape weather and unfortunately couldn’t get a refund on our last night as it was prepaid, but understandable.
