We stayed here for two nights while doing the tourist thing in Rotorua and had a lovely stay. Reception staff were friendly, hotel while being a little dated was clean and provided full access to the guest facilities at the nearby Novotel Hotel, including the thermal pool and spas! Free onsite and on street parking was easy with a hire car and the hotel was located within a short stroll to Eat Street and the centre of Rotorua.
We had 2 rooms and 4 adults. We had a short but pleasant stay. We wanted a smile weekend break in Rotorua and we are very happy we choose the IBIS.Being close to the novotel for their buffet was excellent value.
Great place to spend time in Rotorua. Price is affordable and room is clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. Location is great, near the lake and close to shops. Breakfast menu was ok but not excellent.
We were welcomed with a complimentary drink and advised about facilities we were able to use at the Novotel as Le Club Accor Silver members. The young lady on the desk was excellent and most helpful thank you. The room and the bed was absolutely fine so no complaints at all. Handy to everything and with a pleasant outlook.
Very disappointing. Went to check in at 2pm on a Fri afternoon and told my room not ready. After a 15 min wait was given a different room. This was not the double room I had booked for my husband and I and had a child's bed in the corner. Went back to reception and another ten min wait. Receptionist tried to get someone to remove bed from room but to no avail and we were made to feel it was an inconvenience. Given keys to another room and same deal, a child's bed in corner. This was supposed to be a romantic birthday with my hubby so really disappointing. At 2.40 we had no resolve and we went back home to Tauranga. Disappointing as we had a meal booked that evening and were meeting friends which was totally ruined. On top of that the two rooms looked pretty shabby, beds not made properly and looked lumpy. Rooms felt damp.at 2.40 there was still laundry and rubbish littering the corridors. The girl on reception did not even offer us a drink whilst we were waiting nor offer an upgrade, such sad customer service nowadays. She could not even confirm that my account would not be deducted and did not have the courtesy to ring me after and let me know. I was very polite with her and i was the one who ended up apologising that i couldnt wait any longer. So sad as I love the Ibis in Hamilton and stayed there heaps of times and would give five stars. This one in rotorua is substandard and a joke.
Awesome location - close to Eat Street and bars. Great service. Clean and tidy. Also near lakefront and easy walk to town. Friendly staff. Breakfast was included in deal so this was a good value overnight stay.
We spent two nights at Ibis Rotorua, all I can say is that the deal is fairly cheap, apart from that nothing stands out and you get what you paid for. Room is very small, no slippers provided. Toilet's door can not be shut. The overall condition of the facility appears to be poor or below standard. If you just want to find a cheap place to stay, then go for this one, but if you want a quality holiday, you may want to find somewhere else.
My wife and I toured New Zealand for a month during February and March 2017. We have provided reviews of all the places we stayed at during our tour. It was a standard Ibis Hotel. The staff were nice and friendly. The room and bathroom were clean. The shower was adequate. The bed was comfortable. The towels were nice and fluffy and when we asked for some more towels they were brought up straight away. There were no cooking facilities. There was a fridge, a kettle and tea and coffee supplied. There was plenty of parking at no cost.
I am a regular here because it is good value for money, the beds are excellent, handy location (walk to Eat Streat & lake) )and we always receive lovely service from obliging staff. On this occasion renovations were underway in the foyer and around the restaurant. No bar area was evident...yet! But I am hopeful a cosy corner might be created. But whatever the result, we will be back.
We booked the Ibis as it was so much cheaper than the Novotel, and we had just wanted a quick one night getaway. The room size was fine, we'd paid a teeny bit more for the superior room. The chair under the desk hadn't been cleaned, so I had to sweep off someone's crumbs and a hair. The bed was tidy, but the mattress protector didn't cover the whole bed - I could see the mattress through the sheets which bothered me a bit. Pillows weren't very firm. Breakfast was fine, but not a huge amount of options. Wifi is okay... as long as no one else in the hotel is using it. Overall for a one night stay it was okay, but if we were going back to Rotorua, I'd probably pay more for the Novotel.
