It is an Ibis – you know what to expect, small rooms, very limited storage space, rather basic but clean. No surprises in Rotorua in this respect. Breakfast mainly catered for the needs of the many Asian visitors but coffee was better than in many other places we stayed in. Given its very central location only a few minutes away from the lake I’d normally award it a solid three stars for an average budget hotel. However, WIFI is not free and charged as an extra, which is completely unacceptable for me these days and makes me deduct one star.
I was put up in the Ibis for five nights while on a FENZ course. I thought the room was well appointed for my requirements. Breakfast had standard offerings & we would go to sister hotel in the evening for dinner. The sister hotel also had an adequate gym & hot pools / sauna use. The only little niggle was the cleaners would put iron & ironing board away, which was used daily.
Loved our 2 night stay. Reception staff were very polite and welcoming. Was a bonus to be able to use Novotel pool, spa and gym. Novotel dinner buffet spread was very good. I recommend this place. Would go again.
A short stroll to Eat Street, 15 minutes' walk to Pak & Save, Countdown and the shopping mall. Clean room, comfortable beds. Free wifi was available only in the lobby area and there was only one small pathetic couch placed in the area.
Very welcoming staff and a lovely clean room on the 4th floor facing the water. The restaurant served mostly burgers and pizzas in the evening at a cost of $25 each which seems a bit steep . Guest have free use of the spa pools next door ath Novotel.
King bed nice and clean Great area with a Lakeview Shower only Nice geothermal area to walk around Easy to walk to restaurants, very nice complex to eat. Very small town Not a lot open on Sundays Great place to stay if your going to the Journey of the ages, they pick you up there and drop you off.
Very good value for money. Compact but comfortable room. True to Ibis accommodation - you get what you pay for - a room. You can use the facilities at the adjacent Novotel but I didn't get a chance to. The check in process was very slow (about 10 mins), especially as this was a business booking and all information had be provided previously. The breakfast was overpriced and was not the standard breakfast in that the buffet was more rice, noodles and congee rather than the traditional eggs, bacon, hash browns etc. Would eat elsewhere next time. Overall good value for money
Loved this establishment. Everyone knows the Ibis is standard accommodation from the chain of (AccorHotels) but I thought it surpassed this title. The key needed to be reactivated several times but hey ho! Being right in town and a stones throw from Eat St it’s in a fab location. Room was impeccably clean with everything you need for an overnight stay. When I visit Rotorua again I will certainly be booking the Ibis and not even bother with the Novotel. They are right beside each other anyway, and the rooms are similar unless you want a lake view room at the Novotel which one pays for accordingly.
Hotel is what I expected for the price. Didn't sleep well due to old pillows and sheets that were tucked in so mercilessly tight it felt like Nurse Ratched had made the bed. Staff were excellent - friendly and efficient. Enjoyed use of the Novotel thermal pools and sauna.
(Below in English) Good value for money except for a service glitch towards the end of stay Pros: I absolutely loved the mineral pools and gym at the adjacent Novotel, which guests at Ibis can enjoy for free (but you have to show your Ibis room card at Novotel to get their access card); the room was spacious and well furnished; some of the staff were just fabulous and helpful; I was given a lake view room (Room 267) as requested Cons: Some front-desk staff members looked like they didn't care about their work. I requested and was given late check-out upon check-in, but apparently it wasn't put into records. On our last day, we were repeatedly asked if we were checking out and were locked out of our room. The receptionist was unsympathetic and unhelpful. After several unsuccessful recoding of the cards, someone who appeared to be the manager went up and fixed the problem. The Wifi was extremely slow and the login process (for iPhone) was a pain. Breakfasts were okay.
