Stayed here recently for one night and would happily return. Friendly helpful staff, received an update on arrival which was most appreciated. Comfortable bed and clean room. Enjoyed the in-house restaurant for dinner. The heated outdoor pool was fantastic, the only thing I didn't like was all of the Asian tourists spitting everywhere - it was so disgusting and unhygienic. Especially those that were spitting onto to the concrete ground around the pool, it was raining so eventually was going to end up in the pool - I made sure I didn't put my head under. Some signs around the pool might help discourage this.

Having stayed in the Distinction Wellington Hotel, which is fantastic, I was expecting something similar. Unfortunately this Distinction is well overdue for an update. It's tired, very brown and burgundy and needs a good coat of paint in places where its peeling. The beds were comfortable and the linen good.Shower pressure was also pretty good although the shower head was quite low and I had to bend to get underneath it to wash my hair... and no... I'm not six foot! just a mere 5'4"! That being said, the staff were incredible. We took our own pillows and the fabulous room service staff mistakenly changed the pillowcases. I went to reception to explain, never expecting to see our own pillowcases again... however 20 minutes later there was a knock at the door and there were two pillowcases, laundered and still hot from the press machine. Amazing!!!! Big ups to spending the time looking though what an only be 100's of white pillowcases to find ours (also white just to add to the challenge!)

Good accommodation standard. The pool was the favourite with the kids! We liked the hotel, which has a nice old-world charm about it. Very good service at reception and concierge. The buffet breakfast was outstanding.

We come together as a family here every year or so, they accommodate us all, have plenty of room options on a budget we can all afforded. The evening menu caters for all and The in house Japanese restaurant is an awesome dinning experience.

I stayed at a specious room with big beds and all amenities. Clean but old. At times noisy from the main road. I attended a conference at the hotel which was well catered for and had good conference facilities.

I have recently just stayed here for a business trip, everything from checking in with the lovely lady at the front find my room we're all very good. After a long day I was excited to get into one of those advertised private grotto spa's. On entry into the cave like area, I walked in to the first one only to find the lock on the door broken and stuff floating in the spa. I continued to spa no.2 this one looked nice, but as I walked in to close the door I discovered a dirty/used tampon on the side of this spa. Heading on to the third spa, this lock was also broken but workable. I closed the door and locked it and proceeded to get ready to hop in. I pushed the button to make the jets turn on, they started and within 30 seconds my eyes became extremely itchy and sore, I was now also finding it rather hard to breathe and it only got worse. I had to grab my stuff and quickly run outside to get fresh air and wash my face. As a regular pool swimmer I'm use to chlorine but whatever levels you have in there are dangerous. Quite disappointed.

Stay here frequently with work. Always a friendly welcome. Nice comfortable rooms, not flash but good. The meals are good. Conference facilities are also good. Have had a few sessions in them. Pools for the family and a nice garden area for a bit of quiet time, if you're lucky enough.

Pleasantly surprised with this hotel. I booked this via their own website and booked the wrong days. When we checked in I realised my error but the staff were unflappable and rebooked me without an issue. Pools were great. Ask reception for additional towels and robes. Dined at Mr Yakitori which was excellent, good value Japanese skewers. Definitely will return on our next visit to Rotorua.

The hotel was disappointing on arrival it was dated and old and had that old smell about it. We checked in and got in the lift to our room the room was not great, it was a shower over a bath but more importantly the bath was dirty looking there was dust around the room and when you laid on bed it just sunk on either side and the middle it was not comfy at all. We went down to reception to discuss our concerns and they where helpful and moved us room. However it wasn't much better as we went up a level one of the lifts was out of order but closed off with a half closed curtain and what looked like a road barrier and the room wasn't much cleaner the dust around the fans was discussing ( there above the bed - so not ideal) the beds was a slight improvement. They did not advertise that they had a pool or spa on the website or when we checked in we read one or two lines about what the hotel offered on an information sheet in the room. We did use the pool on the night and the hotel provide towel for this which was nice. There was also a outside jacuzzi however it was to dark to sit in there was its cornered off around bushes more lightning is needed outside for night use in general they also had inside cave pool which seemed an exciting aspect for the hot pool area we was in however we didn't use these as they seemed dirty.

Room was clean and spacious and ready when we arrived. Breakfast was fantastic and there was plenty of variety and quantity was great as they kept replenishing the trays right up until sitting closed.
