Locked in bathroom, screamed at, then kicked out!

I had the worst hotel/BNB experience of my life here. Upon arrival, I used the bathroom and closed the door. When I tried to open the door of the bathroom to leave, the door handle immediately fell off, and was broken upon inspection. I spent the next hour trying all sorts of methods to open the door, to no success. After panic started to set in, I decided to call for help. Hotels.com offered me a discount on my next stay, but couldn't do more. Great! I'm still stuck in the bathroom, and my girlfriend can't get into the building because the keys are in the other room. I tried calling for help, but nobody could hear me. I finally found the phone number of the owner of the BnB, and reached out. She only spoke Italian, but through google translate I was able to communicate my situation. After a while, I was relieved to hear her entering my room, and opening the bathroom door from the other side. She then proceeded to scream at me in Italian!! She must have thought I was a reckless foreigner, or she didn't like Americans, but she proceeded to tell me to pack my bags and leave (through google translate). I packed up all our things, and dragged our bags outside to the curb, where she had 2 men watch over my girlfriend and I. We were scared at this point, and needed a safe place to stay as it was getting dark. After close to 4 hours on the phone with Hotels.com support, we were finally relocated. Please stay here at your own risk. Last day of our vacation wasted.

Beautiful room with all the amenities but looks like a questionable property from outside and as you walk up 2 1/2 flights of stairs to get to front door. More signage would be helpful. Staff speak no English.

We wanted to stay here the night before we left for the airport and the pictures and reviews looked great. The contact lady was nothing but accommodating and kind. However, when we got there we discovered it was three flights if narrow steps to get many bags upstairs. We didn’t feel safe leaving the bags in the car, as parking was impossible to find and the area was mobbed with people, bars, and loud music. The location was above a bar that was pumping loud music until 3:00am. With kids and an early flight, this wasn’t the right choice for us. The room also smelled like smoke, which again, made it not a good choice for us. We booked thinking the room and location was something entirely different. Again, the contact lady was very kind, but in the end, we had to scramble to find a different, non-smoking hotel room for us to stay the night.

Good stay with some caveats

Very good one night stay before we flew back to the USA. Check-in procedures were OK but a little confusing; the person who checked us in didn’t seem to speak much English but was super nice and we were able to manage. There was no shampoo or soap provided but luckily we had some from a previous hotel stay. The room and beds were really comfy and updated. Lots of street noise and partying from the busy street with restaurants below the rooms, even on a weeknight, but I just turned my white noise app on. Overall I would recommend this place if you are prepared for the things I mentioned.

The room was absolutely lovely! However, it was an absolute death trap! The door handle for the bathroom kept coming off every time I opened it, and I tried to open the curtains in the morning and the fell down ans hit my head! All of this after the cleaning woman who let me into the place initially tried to con additional moneh from me upon arrival! Won't be staying again.
